Aftermarket Stereo/Speakers
by masantafe on Thu Nov 13 13:30:40 PST 2008
I have a new 08 SE with standard (no Infinity) stereo. Looks good, but sound could be much better IMO. Problem is I want to keep the head end. Has anyone changed out just their speakers and possibly added a moderate amp? How does it sound? Worth the investment? Anyone know a good shop in the Boston/Southern New Hampshire area? Thanks.
Roundel Snow Tire Article
by riez on Sun Feb 09 06:33:15 PST 2003
brave1heart... Have you read the latest issue of Roundel (Feb, 03)? Has a great article--titled BMWs Over Ice: Stirred, Not Shaken--discussing what positive impact dedicated snow tires can have. They test three vehicles: an X5 3.0, a 330Ci, and a 325xi. Great text and photographs. Use of snow tires significantly improved winter performance for all three, including both AWD models. But what they did for the 330Ci was most dramatic: "tossing on snow tires had the most profound transformation of the three cars. The 330 went from pitiful observer to hockey player.... The car could be driven through the slalom--on the snowy ice, but not the glare ice--nearly as fast as its [4WD] counterparts.... It meant being able to properly stop in a straight line, and even trail brake a little.... It meant we could turn in and go around the cones, not sail past or over them, and get it pointed at the next corner." Ultimately, winter driving is most dependent on two things. First, winter tires. Second, driver skill. If you don't try to outdrive the winter tires, you'll likely be amazed what it can do. They did the test using Pirelli snow tires at the Team O'Neil rally driving school near Mt. Washington Valley, New Hampshire.

I always work off the invoice price. Try the mbusa web site. Build your vehicle then you can send it to any MB dealer in the United State for a quote. You can an offer with your E-mail or request a quote. I found some of the best price in California from dealers in the cities of Torrance, San Francisco and Oakland areas. The E-mail goes to the Internet Department and they usually reply within a day or two. I do not know about the shipping to another state other than a European Delivery. You might also try the dealer in New Orleans and Holloway Motors in New Hampshire.

Hi I have a Mustang 97 cope v6 3.8l Stick shift .. I love my car never had any major issues but i have only driven my car in the DC and Maryland area where it does not snow that much and this is my first winter after buying this car. I have put about 5K on this car in 2.5 months i have had this and now i have shifted my base to boston and southern New Hampshire area where it snows much more than Maryland. I have read this car can be really difficult to drive on ice as its RWD and has good torque with a light body ....so needed some thoughts and any suggestions will be appreciated ...?

Just a thought if you are going to sell the car... look for an electric car club, they are always looking for a car with a broken motor to convert to electric operation. Jim
