New 2009 Sonata Limited without Nav "Price Paid"
by bob241 on Mon Nov 17 09:10:56 PST 2008
I hope this helps you, just bought new 09 above, Window sticker was 25,340. I paid 18,700, 598 dealer fees, plus Tax and Tag. Total came to 20,200 OTD. You have to pay tax on the rebates. I went to Coconut Creek Hyundai in Broward Florida. I first went to Rick Case in Davie FL. They wanted $21,500 plus Tax tax and title and were not moving on the price. My price included a $2500 Hyundai rebate, and 2500 dollars dealer rebate at Coconut Creek Hyundai. They were all very nice. I negoiated the price over email with the internet sales dept. Do not pay more than 19,300 with dealer FEES anywhere. I love the car. Fun to drive. Nothing fancy but great transportation. the Infinity Stero is kind of weak but OK. I did not take the zero percent financing. They have new car financing for 4.74 percent. Not to bad. To bad they put the cheap chinese tires on the new limited sonatas. Good Luck!!!!!!

Maybe Japan should advance 50 Billion to level the playing field..After all they invaded this country using ex-congressional folks who turned to the field of lobbying to fill their pockets with yen....Tradefree industrial zones were established to allow the invasion..I spent two years running the sales of a Japanese plant in the Battle Creek, Mich area..early-80s, it was a giveaway program and some of the product was "junk". Slice the union pay and get the right to run the plant..Let management's pay stand for the automotive end is a tough game..for somebody has to make decisions..The union is liberal, their game is looking for the the bad side, confusion and complaining is their goal..Spent 6 yrs running a manufacturing plant near Flint and yes, we had the UAW. We had the right to run the plant, the Big3 gave away that right..I have seen paycheck stubs on janitors making !00k/yr. in the late 90s.. The Big3 have been burning money for years, and the Govt has finally screwed GM, Ford, and Chrysler with it's ecology stance and lack of domestic oil..The whole scenerio has been in play for years.. The whack jobs pushing the "Global Climate" mantra will stiffle the country for they have a good start, and no quick fix is available..Just BS by the volumes..Take a look at the mortgage mess and the history of Freddie and Fannie, DEMOCRATS IN ACTION..Can't wait until they get their hands on HEALTH CARE.. NO HEALTH CARE IS COMING..
Re: PLEASE HELP - Need advice on extended Warranty .... [roverfish]
by discoman on Sun Nov 09 13:01:44 PST 2008
It sounds to me like the third party warranty company offered them a better kickback so they are pushing it. Also, is the 3rd party something local that the dealership's owner may be a part owner in the company? You might want to inquire at another dealer, possibly in another state or city. I phoned my dealer in Seattle where I have bought 3 vehicles from in the last 10 years. He told me their LR extended warranty prices are comparable to the last one I purchased, allowing for inflation of course. But they haven't gone up anything drastic. Just a few $$$ in the last 2 years. I would be really, really careful with 3rd party warranties. They aren't worth the paper they are written on. I had one on my 2003 Expedition EB, and I got the best one available. It supposedly covered all the AC components, including the rear AC. Except for the $800 worth of parts and labor that broke on mine. It covered the electric windows, except the part of them that broke on mine. The switches yes, the switch controller module, no. So if a switch went bad, I would have to pay $100 deductible to replace a $20 switch plus labor, which came to $120. The controller is a $350 module, plus labor, and not covered. Get the picture? They make it look really good by having a long list of parts. Most of them with familiar or important sounding names, that are covered, so it gives you a warm fuzzy feeling that you are in good hands. But these are the most reliable components, that almost NEVER break. A manufacturer's extended warranty is infinitely better, because athough yes, they are pricier, and designed to make a bit of extra $$ on the back end of the sale (The salesman gets no comission, the back office does), they also cover the important components likely to fail during the warranty period to keep the vehicle in good running condition. This keeps the customer happy because as long as you are getting good warranty service, you will probably purchase a new car from them again. And the current vehicle you will probably trade will be in better condition for the resale too. So it saves them $$ again by not having to spend so much reconditioning your car before they put it on the lot, and they can offer you a better deal on the trade. 3rd party warranty companies don't care as much about repeat business, because they figure if you don't need them, you will never know how little you are actually covered for. This will make you come back to them on your next car because they are cheaper than the Manufacturers. And if you do need them, you will realize what a rip off they are and go with the manufacturer's warranty next time anyway. Hope this helps. :confuse:

Test Drive From Hell
by driver100 on Thu Oct 16 15:16:07 PDT 2008
True story...Salesmen, be careful; John Burman The Hamilton Spectator (Hamilton Ontario Canada -Genesis would be about 20% less U.S.) (Oct 16, 2008) The test drive from hell started when a man admiring a $47,000-plus Hyundai Genesis suddenly grabbed the keys and dove behind the wheel. What followed was a wild ride up and down Parkdale Avenue North Tuesday afternoon that ended with an arrest in Brantford. Hamilton police say a man walked into Hamilton Hyundai around 2:30 p.m. and took the top-of-the-line Genesis sedan shortly afterward. "He was walking around in the showroom and asked for the keys to one," sales manager Sean Wilson said yesterday. "There was something about him," said Wilson, who's learned a lot about human nature in his 11 years in car sales. "I figured I would walk around with him." The man went over to the Genesis parked outside, asked a few questions and asked Wilson to unlock it. Then he said he wanted to hear it run and snatched the keys from the salesman's hand, jumped behind the wheel and started it up. "I hopped in the back and next thing he's doing 60 mph up Parkdale, telling me to get out." When Wilson refused to get out the first time the man stopped the car, he drove the wrong way at high speed up one side of Parkdale against oncoming traffic. The Genesis, Wilson said, "has 290 horses and he used all of them." "He stopped again and yelled, 'Do you want to get out now?' "So, I said OK and got out." As Wilson headed back to the dealership, the car disappeared. About 4:30 p.m., the same man drove into the Brantford Hyundai dealership on Powerline Road and a salesperson noticed the car had no plates and a Hamilton Hyundai price sticker on it. The driver claimed he was making an inter-dealer delivery and said he wanted another car or a ride back to Hamilton. A quick check with Hamilton revealed the car was stolen. The dealership called the OPP and stalled the driver until police arrived. A 36-year-old Stoney Creek man has been charged in Brantford with possession of stolen property worth more than $5,000. He is charged in Hamilton with dangerous driving and theft over $5,000. The car hadn't returned to Hamilton by midday yesterday but Wilson understood "it's all in one piece." My Question is; "Who's going to pay $47,000 for a Hyundai?

Sales were down 24 percent at Honda Motor Co, 32 percent at Toyota Motor Corp and 37 percent at Nissan Motor Co. Chrysler LLC sales were down 33 percent. Silicon Valley car dealers shut doors OWNERS TRY TO SELL DEALERSHIPS,THEN GIVE UP AND WALK AWAY Article Launched: 10/02/2008 10:04:49 AM PDT At his dealership in Los Gatos, John Moore sits, both literally and figuratively, in the middle of a depressing time for Silicon Valley car dealers. Moore Buick-Pontiac-GMC is a three-generation, family-owned dealership on Los Gatos Boulevard. To the store's right are the remains of Swanson Ford, which closed in 2006 and was destroyed in a fire on Sunday. To the showroom's left is Los Gatos Chevrolet, which locked its doors for good on Tuesday. "Two years ago, I was saying I never saw business conditions like this," Moore said. "Unfortunately, car dealers are the most optimistic entrepreneurs in the world. We keep hoping it's going to get better, but it keeps getting worse." Perhaps a dozen San Jose-area dealerships have closed in the past few years, including Silicon Valley Hummer, Stevens Creek Buick-Pontiac-GMC, Sunnyvale Dodge-Chrysler-Jeep and Sunnyvale Lincoln-Mercury this year. Smythe Volvo closed one location on Capitol Expressway Auto Mall, but another Volvo store remains open on Stevens Creek Boulevard. "These stores are closing, not selling. That's what's amazing," said Shaun Del Grande, a longtime Valley dealer with Mazda, Suzuki, Hyundai and Volkswagen franchises. "There's not even a market out there." Bay Area Loses Three Car Dealerships in One Week KCBS, CA - Oct 2, 2008 SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) -- Three Bay Area car dealerships went out of business this week, and the pile-up is probably not over. Good Chevrolet in Alameda, another Chevrolet dealership in Los Gatos, and a GMC dealership in Colma all either closed, or announced they would be closed before Friday.
