I usually do that drive in October when I visit my sister in Virginia and we drive down in her car. Malfunction junction just keeps shifting around Knoxville, lol. I know all about the Ooltewah Owls too. :-)

Yes sir.. It is still bad.. I used to live in Cleveland, TN about 38 miles north of downtown Chatt.. Had to move closer because my RT drive was about 80 miles each day.. When U get to Ooltewah, TN they have made it into 4 or 5 lanes for awhile then it goes back to 2 lanes heading into downtown and 2 veering off into GA.. Actually, the prices in Georgia are now more expensive or the same as compared to southeast TN.. I emailed a frat brother of mine in Dallas,TX about a different topic and he asked how much gas was here because he used to love in Atlanta, anyway, when I told him he was surprised because we were about .13 cents more a gal then in Dallas.. It has gone up .08 cents since last week.. One day it went up .17 cents a gallon from the time of the morning commute until the afternoon... Just a heads up to you, if you are planning to come down to see your kinfolk, if you come through Knoxville,TN, be prepared to take I-640 around K-town.. The state is working on I-40 in downtown Knoxville and will be doing so for 14 months.. It will be a true pain come football season to go see the Vols, if I can afford the gas prices by then, plus the tickets.. ha-ha..
Bad Plug Wires at 70K??
by 99jetta on Fri May 07 05:27:12 PDT 2004
I just had to replace the plug wires, cap and rotor on my 99 Jetta and it only has 71K miles on it. They were so bad that the car actually wouldn't run. I was under the impression that wires should last around 100K. I think the recommendation is to replace at 60K but as a single mom, if it ain't broke I can't fix it. Anyone have any advice on this? Is there anything else that should be done at this mileage to prevent another break down? (I lost my owners manual). Thanks!
Bad motor mount
by 99jetta on Wed Jun 23 05:41:45 PDT 2004
I have just been told that the left rear motor mount on my 99 Jetta needs replaced. This car only has 70K miles on it. Has anyone else encountered this or know what would cause a motor mount to break this early?
HELP! 99 Jetta NEEDS REPAIR
by 99jetta on Fri Jun 18 06:03:59 PDT 2004
I have a 99 Jetta 2.0 that is leaking coolant. I have replaced the T-stat/gasket but it is still leaking. Not enough for the light to come on and the reservoir is still above the full mark but I am about to go on vacation and want to avoid problems on the road. Any suggestions? The only repair place in town is the dealer and they can't get to it until after I leave for vacation so they referred me to Enterprise Rent a Car!
Radio Problems
by 99jetta on Thu May 06 08:17:17 PDT 2004
For some reason the cassette player automatically turns itself on when you are listening to radio/CD. It comes on (no tape in it) and displays an error message. When I switch back to radio/cd it goes back to cassette in just a few seconds. I can hear the cassette player making a noise. My question is does anyone know how to fix this OR does anyone know how to get the factory unit out. I have had several people try but only manage to break a few buttons off. (Can't afford to pay to have it done). Thanks!
