Re: Hating Nissan right now [fedfuzz]

fedfuzz...I have two names for you to contact...(Unfortunately, I am having problems finding the email addresses, but the names and proper addresses for mailing will also work.....) Fred Standish - Director of Corporate Communications Nissan North America, Inc P.O. Box 685003 Franklin, TN 37067-5003 800-647-7261 Lanae Burton Executive Specialist - (Works for Fred Standish) I emailed Fred Standish directly and Lanae was the person that responded and was assigned my case from start to finish. I think my Dad may still have the email and phone numbers for these two, so let me check and I will shoot them to you. If you mail a letter to Fred, he will respond by having Ms. Burton contact you directly. The initial response will be a flat denial of all accountability, but the more tenacious and organized you are with documenting the facts of your case, diplomatically, you know non-threatening, other than the threat of legal action...the more they will want you gone so bad they will pay you. I got the first $8,000 on my own with Lanae's help, and then I got a Lemon Law Lawyer that got me the other $5,000. Nissan didn't even care that they had already paid me AND replaced my engine and cats on their dime...because they'd have had to pay me well over $80,000 if they had decided to go to court and lost...so another $5,000 was nothing. It took a year, and my Nissan sat, with the new engine and cats, parked the whole time, and I bought a Toyota instead. I will work on the email addresses and phone numbers for you but do keep me posted. Good luck, Sara
My contact with Ford
by nadineb on Fri May 08 08:17:07 PDT 2009
I believe that the Customer Service at Ford has only one answer - It's "Proprietary". They will not provide any information, and tell you to contact the dealer. Did the dealer make the vehicle? Franklin Delano Roosevelt in a message to Congress stated, " The liberty of a democracy is not safe if the people tolerate the growth of private power to a point where it becomes stronger than the democratic state itself. That in its essence is fascism: ownership of the government by an individual, by a group or any controlling private power." Ralph Nader writes in his book The Good Fight, " This loss of control is felt ever more deeply. A Business Week poll in the year 2000 found 72 percent of the people believing that corporations had too much control over their lives. This was before exposure of the ongoing corporate crime wave that has looted or drained trillions of dollars from hardworking people. Society, like a fish, rots from the head down. Our leaders have been delivering for themselves and their circles, not for the people they allegedly serve. In return, too many people have been too trusting of, or resigned to, their leaders' mass media rhetoric. Our static political system often leads our elected officials to do the opposite of what they say." " Powerless people often aggravate their situation by giving up on themselves. They don't believe they're really capable of doing anything about the injustices affecting their families, their neighborhoods, and their communities." We can not afford to give up. All of us should be asking for a hearing as citizens of this country. I know that my senator really does care about the people he serves, and I know with all my heart that he will do everything in his power to make that happen. We do live in the GREATEST country in the world, and it is owned by the people for the people-not Ford!
The Sour Tale Of A Lemon
by bentleylemon on Tue May 12 10:57:34 PDT 2009
It’s more than a bitter taste to swallow when your car qualifies under the state’s lemon law – it is endless aggravation, exasperation and anger. And, it can happen to the lowest or highest priced car. Just ask Nick at MLEB Partnership located in Franklin Square. Last year they spent over $350,000 for a brand new Bentley. Only five days later the car was brought in for repairs. Since then it has been back to the dealer over a dozen times, and with less than 6,000 miles, has had over $16,000 in warranty repairs. Despite all of this, the car still has windows and a roof that doesn’t close properly causing leaks that allow water and air to soak into the car. It also has a steering wheel that shimmies and pulls to the left at low speeds, and numerous other problems, some of which are classified as safety violations. This vehicle has been in for service 13 times and towed in 5 times, because of safety concerns about driving the vehicle. It was towed again on 4/21/09 to a new dealer, Manhattan Bentley, again because of safety concerns to drive the vehicle. As for Bentley, officials offered $5,000 to settle, then quickly offered $80,000 off a new car, for the owners to settle and not file a lemon law complaint. When I went to trade in my car, I was told it was only worth $200,000. They tried to tell me that my car has depreciated over $150,000 in 6 months. While Bentley officials insist the car meets Bentley’s standards, the Nassau county Office of Consumer Affairs disagrees. In a letter dated April 8, 2009 they report, “This office has substantiated the problems and problems have been further substantiated by an independent company that specializes in luxury automobile maintenance and repair.” The dealer, Champion Motors in Jericho, was cited with a violation and unfair trade practices but the actual violation had to be stayed because the dealer had filed for bankruptcy. The Consumer Affairs office also recommended the owners to file a Lemon Law complaint, which is now being prepared by MLEB Partnership. And so a car that was to bring a “dreams come true story” has turned into a living nightmare, one day that appears will not be over anytime soon. To this day all problems still exist. With the moral of the tale being, lemons can come in all sorts of prices, shapes and sizes.

No, they don't...TARP is also law. That is the debate. Can the government pass a law that circumvents the Constitution, which gives rights to the lenders. The Supreme Court has upheld those 5th Amendment rights that the TARP law would like to take away. Only in this case, it involves protecting every taxpayer, not just a select few hedge funds. I have NO love for hedge fund operators. I believe they are a big part of our financial problems. However the tax payers money should not be spent in the way it is being used. That I blame on the Treasury and Congress. I think we are totally out of control with no one at the helm. Let me put it this way....if the bondholders get their way, and Chrysler liquidates in order to pay off their bonds with bailout money, what we have is redistribution of wealth from the ordinary taxpayer to hedge funds acting largely on the behalf of the wealthy. And frankly, I'm tired of covering investment losses for gamblers who decided afterward that they couldn't handle the risk. I agree and that was my gripe with the bailouts. Our bailout history is a mixed bag. We the tax payers are out way more than we have gotten back. That in spite of those that believe these loans/gifts will ever be repaid. Here are the bailout losses up to 2001. Figures in 2008 dollars 1970 Penn Central RR loss ($16.02B) 1971 Lockheed loan fees paid $122,220,000 1974 Franklin National bank still owes $185,300,000 1975 NYC All loans and fees paid 1980 Chrysler bought back 14.4 million shares of stock netting the US $660,000,000 1984 Continental Illinois Bank FDIC suffered $1.8 Billion loss 1989 Savings and Loan Bailout cost the tax payers $178,560,000,000 the rest was covered by the private sector. I see this current round of bailouts in the same light as the Savings and loan losses in the late 1980s. http://www.propublica.org/special/government-bailouts

Developer Dan Schmidt has placed six of his auto dealerships into receivership amid a dispute with KeyBank .....The dispute with KeyBank centers on the Nashville and Denver dealerships. Schmidt in January voluntarily placed his five Nashville-area dealerships and a Denver-area dealership into receivership at Franklin County Common Pleas Court. All were financed by KeyBank, which sued Schmidt in the same court on Feb. 18 to foreclose on the properties, arguing he had defaulted on nearly $30 million in loans. Franklin County Common Pleas Judge John P. Bessey granted immediate foreclosure the same day. “This is all collateral damage from the credit crisis,” Schmidt said. http://columbus.bizjournals.com/columbus/stories/2009/03/09/story3.html
