Re: Still Here, Mr. Cow! [lexusguy]
by jlbl on Wed Oct 29 13:02:00 PDT 2008
My wife and I use to go to Paris at least once a year, usually closely before or after Christmas. One of our favorite visits there is the Paris National Opera House (Palais Garnier/Bastille), either to attend an opera or ballet soirée. We prefer to drive to our destinations if possible, and make a stop or two along the way; but going like that to Paris to pay short visits is truly prohibitive due to the distance from our place but particularly Paris crazy traffic. U-tube and buses are best choice in Paris, as you said. The same applies to Madrid and many European towns, BTW. We went to Madrid a fortnight ago, this time by car, to see a Rembrandt´s paintings exhibition at 'El Museo del Prado'. If you, or any one of the usuals here, happens to come to Spain you should not forget to pay detailed visits to El Prado, Thyssen-Bornemisza (and Sorolla) Museums in Madrid. With L'Hermitage in St. Petersburg, may be the best painting collections in the world. And if going to Barcelona, 'El Palacio de la Música Catalana' and 'El Liceu' are a must for music lovers. But if coming anyway, you may rent a diesel car just to have a drive on the dark side. Regards, Jose (Trying to attract as many visits as possible to this land in times of economical burden ;) ) Edit: I forgot to say, I've attended a couple of concerts at the Vienna Musikverein and... they both were an unforgettable experience. The acoustics of the hall and the atmosphere of the place are just the best frame for the best performance. Vienna breaths music in the air.
Problems/Gripes/Gems Nissan Murano LE 2009
by mycatcroaked on Fri Apr 18 11:58:41 PDT 2008
I saw the '09 Murano at the Detroit Auto show in January. My local dealer - Montrose Auto Group/Hermitage Nissan got in five of them a week later. I drove and immediately bought a merlot Murano LE w/Black leather, Navigation/Tech Package and Dual Panel moonroof. Dealership (on the sale): Excellent. Vehicle: Well equipped, solid tight, squeak/rattle free, fun to drive. I was looking at the Infiniti EX35 for comparison which I outruled because it required Premium Fuel and the fuel filler door is on the passenger side for some reason. I previously owned the Infiniti FX. The closest Infiniti dealership is 70 miles away - a further factor. So I test drive the car - and find a slight vibration. The dealer says they will balance it. No sweat. On delivery they tell me at least two tires have a tread defect and they will opt to replace all four at no charge. Great. Two months later, the tires are in and viola, I have four new 20" tires. But wait! The shaking/vibration problem still exists...maybe worse? Another computer balance/alignment corrects nothing. Uh-oh. Now the dealership says to open a case with Nissan because they can't fix it. So is this another tire defect? It seems unlikely to me (unless all the Toyo tires were from the same batch). I am really pissed at Nissan and more importantly, the dealership at this moment. They are ruining my euphoric new-car experience and with only 2500 miles on the thing, this type of back-and-forth grief shouldn't exist. I know when I had the FX - everything was perfect. I'm waiting for a response from Nissan by Tuesday, April 22. They asked "Do you want a new vehicle?" I said "Well yes - if you can't fix this one - obviously" ...though I'd hate to have to reload dozens of CDs to the HDD Music Box! Now other issues: I saw a post here about backrolling: mine does too - on hills. The Driver outside rearview mirror is optically distorted (everything is fat like stretching your 4:3 TV image to a 16:9 widescreen set). The moonroof only opens about 3/4 of the way..why not all the way like on the Ford Edge? Why don't the rear windows go down all the way? Why does getting the NAV system delete the rearview mirror compass? And why to I have to listen to a nagging woman's voice on the Nav...where's the dude? My list of complaints on the '09 Murano is short and nitpicky. Handling is decent (the tires could use more grip). Low speed high throttle starts are not particularly thrilling - and fuel economy isn't nearly what I was hoping for (around town), but pusing mid-grade 89 or 91 octane fuel makes an immediate noticeable improvement on performance. I don't like that the Nav doesn't accept commands like Acura ("find local Chinese restaurant" and the like), but via HDD it is incredibly fast and accurate. I considered the Jeep Liberty, Infiniti EX35, Mitsubishi Outlander, Mazda CX-7 and Ford Edge. Nissan beat them all for features, overall performance and (as yet to be revealed) reliability. Other than the current blunder by Toyo (the tire people) or my dealership (Montrose/Hermitage Nissan, Hermitage PA), the car was a good choice. I'm not in love with the overdone upswept rear-window or bulbous back end, but driving it seals the deal. Oh, and no one has called it ugly like I keep reading. Everyone I know thinks it's awesome or at least very good looking. So front-end critics, get over yourselves. I'll update this after the resolve by Nissan.
Re: Service Stabilitrak Light (2007 AWD) [mrock]
by truesdell on Sun Nov 11 04:00:47 PST 2007
:confuse: I purchased a 2007 Pontiac Torrent on September 9th, 2007, 8 days later all the lights came on saying it needed service(stabilization/traction control/anti-lock brakes/all-wheel drive(suppose to be on-demand), i took it to the dealer and they ran a test and said the speed sensor was bad, they had to order the part, so I had to make another trip, for repairs. After the repairs i went for a quick shopping trip to a store next door and then got 5 minutes away and the lights came on again. Since I had just left the dealership not long before that, I turned around and went right back and they ran the test again and then produced a bulletin that said GM knew about the problem and that it was lights only. I had also contacted Pontiac 2 times, one time they told me it was a lights issue and that the all-wheel drive on demand was still on-demand, the first one gave me free oil changed, like that was going to make me feel safer, it paid more to get the added safety features. Well, it continued to make funny sounds and the lights never went off, so I contacted Pontiac again and got another Rep, who said she wanted to change me from an unhappy Pontiac customer to a happy one. She also wanted me to get it in and have them retest it, and guess what, the bad part they supposed replaced with a good part, the good part was bad also, or else the dealership lied, and never replaced it to begin with, so i asked them if the repairs this time would help my gas mileage, since there was an electrical issue, and at first he told me no, then upon checking he said it should help, because the wheel axle was turning, so I said, that means the all wheel drive is working all the time, and he said YES, I said know wonder the gas mileage sucked, you know, if the roads were bad and the all wheel drive was active, I wouldn't mind the gas mileage going down, but not on good roads. So anyway I had to take it back in again for the repairs and he said this should help your gas mileage too, and I said I hope so, but was told that before, and you know what, my gas mileage still sucks. I will hold off giving the name of the dealership's name, other than to say they are in Hermitage Pennsylvania and recently bought the dealership. You know, I have always been taught that you should always give someone the item they bought, but you know, this dealership did not give me what I bought, I bought a 2007 Pontiac Torrent, with Stability control, Traction Control, Anti-lock brakes, so that I would feel safer when driving, but did not get all of the features, I bought an expensive LEMON, and you know what, I will never ever buy another vehicle from this dealership(or any of the car lots within this companies operations and will never buy another Pontiac. Hey if they don't care about me, then I don't care to buy from them. You would think in this highly competitive field, they would care more about their customers. But I guess that is what I get for thinking. This is a dealership and a manufacture problem, and they need to get their acts together. I then told the representative, after she wanted me to take it to another dealer and get a second opinion, that it was actually the third opinion, but that it would also be the third time(3 strikes and your out - it is considered a lemon, especially whe it pertains to safety issues) for the same issue and that after I took it, I would be filing a case pertaining to the "lemon law" and that it was going to cost them a lot more, she did not seem to care. I think if enough people would stand up against these companies and start doing like we are doing, by posting and letting everyone know how they treat you, that they would soon get their act together. They may think they are getting the last laught, but word of mouth can make or break a company. Negative comments will not look good for them.

Yeah I have been by there a few times. My dad later moved to the Hermitage area and when I visited him I would drive Lebanon pike into the city proper. My dad moved to a subdivision where every street was a Bonnasomething. :confuse:
Re: Chrysler Pacifica NAV System Questions [lovinmytsr]
by jrs1110 on Sat Mar 24 10:41:02 PDT 2007
Lovinmyster, The DVD case is empty because the disk is being used in the GPS Navigation System located in the rear compartment of the vehicle. The disk is needed to operate your nav. system. If your nav is operating then don't worry about an empty case. GPS Navigation is a free service to all GPS users and you will NEVER be charged for the service. The only OPTIONAL cost would be if you ever wanted to buy an updated DVD disk with more current information such as new streets and services since your model year 2005.

If you have airconditioning get the r12 "freeon" checked if not you might be looking at blue but the gears inside the knob may not be catching and turning to the cool (blue) area
