Newbie.....: by nysniper28 on Thu Sep 18 19:06:30 PDT 2008; just joined and love readind the messages here! I am looking to get a 2009 limited 4cylinder with nav and know exactly what i want. I have been doing my homework and know I kinda got screwed when i was younger and bought my first car and want to get the best deal I can now. I see that on edmonds the invoice is at around $24,791. Should my first step to buying the car be trying to contact the fleet manager, do most people agree this is the best way and how did the conversation go down on the phone? Also has anyone ever emailed their dealership and stated what they wanted and were willing to spend, is this a good idea or stick with the phone? I live in upstate NY, utica area, so if anyone has any dealership stories from around me that would be great thanks!

"One proposal that Wall Street hears is under study is to sell the Packard engine plant at Utica, Mich., to a truck manufacturer, move Packard assembly to a smaller plant, and put the huge Detroit plant up for sale. Headquarters would be moved to South Bend, Ind., Studebaker's home, and the Studebaker nucleus itself might be sold to some company that could use a tax loss." I can't remember where...maybe it was the '56 Annual Report, maybe not...but I remember reading that sale of the big East Grand Boulevard Packard plant brought in only $750,000. By the '55 model year, production already had moved out of there and into a small former Chrysler plant on Conner Blvd. Bill P.

Some dealers noted that we had to take a car off the lot. ALL quotes exclude TT&L fees since these vary by state. If doc fees were given, I added those in.
