Re: lease deal [n1g1fl]

If you want Bluetooth or like listening to your iPod without the FM radio hissing sound, I would consider purchasing or leasing a 2009 Porsche Cayenne instead of the 2008 model. The PCM in the 2009 is supposed to have the iPod and bluetooth direct hookups (clean digital sound) while 2008 models can only have aftermarkets installed. 2008 Cayennes don't even have an option to have an OEM device and have to have the aftermarkets installed for $1200. I would only get a 2008 model if you can negotiate the aftermarket mObridge device installed for iPod and Bluetooth capability. I own a 2008 Cayenne GTS and I love the SUV but not the awful music coming from my iPod hooked up to an FM relay. I'm planning to get the aftermarket device installed soon...

Good luck with the Turbo...I almost bought it! I believe it only had 28k miles on it and I'm sure it was well maintained at the dealership. The only drawback is that I've heard from other forums NOT to by any Cayenne except 2005 and newer. This one particular Cayenne may just be an exception. Also, if you're looking for an iPod or Bluetooth connection, talk to Eric Schaeffer in Service as he recommends the mObridge (which will set you back about $1200 installed). Porsche does NOT make OEM iPod or Bluetooth hardwired to the PCM 2.1...I've done the research (compared Nav-Tv, Dension 500, Tooki, mObridge, etc). Michael Stead, so far, has the cheapest price for the product and installation but mObridge has a backlog on their end as far as production goes. It may take awhile to get your hands on one...

Review of mObridge iPod interface

I have the mObridge iPod installed on my Cayenne for a month now. Since I was the first Cayenne install for them in America and the guy from mObridge came over and install it for me for free. Initially I installed it in one of the compartment in the trunk and it was very simple to install. However, it was very inconvenience to get the iPod in and out. So mObridge install it again in the glove compartment for me. It was a little more work and I had to drill a few holes to get the cable to the PCM. It works as it supposed to and so far I had only one crash. It wasn't clear whether it is mObridge's fault or not since it was the iPod that locked up. The song is very good, selecting song is not as easy as from iPod thumb wheel. Basically it use the CD changer interface of the PCM for control, one disc per function. Disc 1 for select song from a playlist, disc 2 for selecting song from artist, disc 3 from an alphabetical list, disc 4 for selecting it from album, disc 5 for selecting songs from genre and finally disc 6 for using aux input or directly from iPod. In mObridge, you have a less layer than iPod when selecting song from genre or artist. For example, in iPod you have genre->album->song, in mObridge you have genre->song. If you have a lot of songs in the same genre then it is more difficult to select the song want. You can move to the next song or go back to the prev song from the driving wheel, and selecting song from PCM interface while driving is not recommanded, I almost got myself into trouble while doing that. One thing good it the capability to unlock the iPod and select the song directly from the front wheel without the need to use an aux line so your front side passenger can select the song for you.

I also just got a Cayenne S. I love the car but i want an IPod hook too. Do you have the web site for MoBridge, I can't seem to find them so I can check out the IPod intergration?? All the shops around here are telling to put in the Nav-Tv kit. Also does anyone know how to take off the trim around the radio so that I can get to the screws? I can get the bottom of the trim off but when I get to the top around the heat controls it won't pop off? Thanks

Just got it last Friday and took it out to a road trip without reading the manual. Overall the UI is OK and can use some improvments, I guess it is the problem with the PCM, I think Mobridge and some other vendors have to make use of the existing PCM UI. However, it crash on me once, not sure whether it was iPod's problem or Mobridge. I can see the content of the iPod and goto the track I wanted but it won't play. Resetting the Mobridge by unpluging the power didn't help. Unpluged the iPod and it won't play the track neither. Reset the iPod then everything works fine. I never had that problem with my iPod, but again I've never put it in the truck of the car, it is hard-drive based and vibration might be the problem. Need to talk to Mobridge and figure that out. Will let you know more my after I another week or 2 of using it.
