Re: Downside of lower gas prices... [larsb]
by gagrice on Fri Nov 14 11:14:02 PST 2008
Sometimes I HATE IT when I'm right.. Not so quick. Or worse. At least 10 U.S. ethanol producers reportedly have filed for bankruptcy in recent months, including VeraSun Energy Corp. of Sioux Falls, S.D., a billion-dollar business. Even T. Boone Pickens is feeling a pinch. The billionaire oilman, who peppered the airwaves this summer and fall with commercials touting his proposals to promote wind power and natural gas to help wean the United States from imported oil, says his plans for a huge Texas wind farm may be slowed by reduced access to credit. Corn ETHANOL was NEVER a good idea as alternative energy. It was boondoggle that we were going to have to pay for with NO real benefit. It was politics to please the Midwestern farmers and the BIG AG companies like ADM As far as T. Boone. The price of Oil has NOTHING to do with tough credit. That has to do with years of poor lending practices. The supply dried up. He should be able to build his wind farm from pocket change if he is dedicated to the idea. So far cheap gas has been good to help us through a tough time. No money no gas. You have 10 million people driving from one job interview to the next and cheap gas helps them a lot. CHEAP GAS IS +++++++++

it's good to be ADM. If ADM is doing well what happened to VeraSun? Looks like someone took pity on them. SIOUX FALLS, S.D. » Ethanol producer VeraSun Energy Corp. said Monday it received commitments for up to $215 million in debtor-in-possession financing to pay bills after filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection last weekend. I'm sure it is our tax money that is backing this up. I have no idea what debtor-in -possession means.

2008 EXL V6 without Navigation
by holmboy2 on Mon May 05 07:10:21 PDT 2008
I've been using this forum to investigate the market on new Accords, so I thought I would post my deal from May 3. I must note it was the last day of the month for this dealership and I was there making the deal in the last hour. I have also bought three new Hondas from them and done all my service work with them. Bought from Vern Eide in Sioux Falls. $25,500 including the chip guard. From the information I know, that's a few hundred under invoice. I also got this price from a Honda dealer in Minneapolis. I did have a trade. A 2005 Accord EXL V6 with 141,000 miles. The appraisal was at $9500. We traded for $16,000. I figured either the price on the car was $25,500 or $26,000 if they bumped the appraisal up to $10,000. Either way, I'm very satisfied. I can't believe a car with 141,000 miles can still be worth that much money, but that's why I keep buying Hondas!
Re: Ugly Suspension Noise When Cold [nissmazlover]
by grasma on Sun Feb 10 09:41:06 PST 2008
Vehicle is a 2007 Mazda 5. Location is in Sioux City, IA. Winters can be very cold. Suspension starts it's chattering when the temp falls below 25 degrees. Dealer replaced front rubber bushings on sway bar in March 2007. Noise was worse this winter. Dealer contacted factory engineers, again. Seems as though certain VIN series ALL have a concern, BUT unless you live in a cold climate and complain, you won't receive help. Dealer replace Lower Front Control arms, front sway bar bushings, and rear bushings (4 of them in the back). Colder than ---- out there today, and there is still LOTS of noise coming from the front. Next call will be to the factory,or the Iowa Lemon law may come into effect. I did sell cars for a few years, so don't let the dealership Bull you with stories. Do your research and then go after the dealership...
2008 CX9
by mkumar on Tue Sep 18 09:58:32 PDT 2007
I went to the Billion Mazda dealer in Sioux Falls. After I showed him the Fitzmall.com printouts he agreed to sell me for $500 over invoice price. So I finalized 2008 Cx9 Touring model with (i)Moon roof and bose system, (ii) compass with autodimming mirror for $34000 before title and tax. Then we discussed about finacing the car, he offered me 7.5% APR for 48months (he told me my credit score was 686) I came home and checked the mazda website it tells 3.9% APR incentive offer. I applied for it online and was approved for it. Then I called Mazda American credit to confirm the interest rate. They are telling me that the interest rate will be decided by the dealer. If feel like this is full of crap. Can anyone explain me whether I am being cheated. Is $34000 an OK price? 7.5% seems to be on the higher side any suggestions will be welcomed. Thanks
