2003 Camry 60K maintenance
by jmyana on Tue Oct 21 17:17:49 PDT 2008
I am a novice when it comes to cars and their maintenance. I got 60K maintenance done on my Camry with a price tag of $718.00. This is the full maintenance they did for the vehicle. I did not remember what I did at 30K and dealer could not pull up 30K service record(He was able to pull up all other records), so I went with the suggested full maintenance. - Replace engine oil and filter - Rotate and balance tires - Visually Inspect brake linings - Replace engine air filter - Replace Cabin air filter - 4 wheel alignment - Inspect tire pressure -Inspect all vehicle fluids - BG fuel induction service - BG power steering flush - BG brake system flush - BG coolant flush - BG transmission flush - BG MOA oil supplement Is this too high for the things they have done on my Vehicle? Also they suggested to change FRONT PADS/SHIMS/ROTORS and quoted $400.00. Also suggested to change Serpentine Belt (He said it is cracking)and quoted $130.00 Also suggested to Clean and Adjust Rear Brakes and quoted $25.00 When I asked them if they can resurface rotors they said rotors were too rusty and they need to be replaced. Do rotors get that rusty 60,000 miles? Also, does Serpentine Belt quote seems to be reasonable? Please help with these questions?

Re: best lease deal [usair]

When leasing from Honda Finance, aqui fee 595 is standard. Either you pay it up-front or have it build into the total amount to spread it out over the lease payments (36 - 42 mos.). Same as 1st payment. The only thing to avoid from Boch's quote is double dipping on DEST. CHARGE $670. If you protest then they will take it off from quotation. Dest charge is included in the MSRP as window sticker, last item before total amount. About 2 trips - I think you can save the 2nd trip if setting up auto hauler to deliver the car from Boch to you. I know there is one at Canton, MA (search online)... about 15 mins from Boch.
Re: 2009 Camry LE with Luxury Package....in Atlanta... [kannu]

Okay...I don't want to put the actual name of the dealership to be fair with other dealerships...here is a hint....it is located in Canton, GA. There is only one guy who does the Internet sales at the dealership.....Request a quote from him via email....He does not play a game...he honors his quote, a very straightforward guy... but he does not accept any negotiation...so, when you go there, make sure that the price is the best you can get....because it is a long drive.... Here is a tip when you shop for Toyotas....In my opinion...Toyota prices are much more easier to work with than Hondas....Honda prices are very difficult to figure out.. And.I never saw any special prices posted on Honda websites...But for Toyota, simply go to any dealership website in the area and look for 'Hot on the Lot" pages....Get the price for the vehicle you want to purchse...or, get the price for a similar vehicle...and you start your negotiation from that price....Tell your salesman that the price is the average price people pay....In my past experience. when I shoped for Sienna back in April......they accepted that price without any problem....of course, I went to a large volume dealer..when I asked for more discount, .they came down about $100 or $200...but no more....So, I guess that "Hot on the lot" prices are very good prices.some salesman say that Hot on the Lot vehicles are demo vehicles...don't believe that kind of lies........Well....this is my opinions....If you are not good at negotiation..like me...this may be a good strategy.... If you have a trade-in, don't bring your car to your dealership...If you bring your car to the dealership for trade in, that means that you want to help dealers... I don't think it is bad...you are helping local businesses...nothing wrong with it...but don't complain about it...In Atlanta area, first bring your to CarMax and get them appraise your car....I know that they also want to make money out of your car...but their price seems to be a lot higher than you can get from dealerships.....For example, the best price I could get for my 2005 Mazda MPV from all different dealerships...was $7500. as you know...they say that they don't make any money.....out of trade ins....blah blah....but CarMax offered $10000 for the Mazda.....When I negotiated my trade in, I asked the dealer to match the price....first, they declined...but when I tried to walk out....they finally matched the trade in price... Note that it is better to trade in your car through a dealer because there is a tax benefit....if no dealer matches that price, sell it to CarMax. Every situation varies....the two tips I listed above may help a person like me who is not good at negotiation..... Hope it helps....Good luck...
New Tacoma $
by cal4 on Tue Jul 15 08:58:33 PDT 2008
What are people paying for new 2008-2009 Tacoma's in relation to MSRP? If the trucks went up 5.1% this year. The Toyota Corp. gives a 1K check to get into a new one but that doesn't mean much if the dealers are sticking to the window sticker price. As to the disscussion on how may trucks are failing inspection. Some dealer's must be grading harder than others. Our Canton Ohio dealer is flunking every one that comes in as far as I can tell then selling most all of them a new vehical..
Re: First year bugs [powder73]

I always buy first year model "Consumers often delay purchasing a model in its first year, waiting for the manufacturer to get the so-called bugs out," said Joe Ivers, partner and executive director of quality/customer satisfaction at J.D. Power and Associates. "Yet, the quality of most new-model launches is actually very good. Some manufacturers have virtually eliminated the launch-year quality drop-off. A few have even demonstrated a pattern of launching models with better initial quality than the models they replaced." New/Redesigned Models Often Record Better Initial Quality Than The Vehicles They Replace, But Not in Every Case I think the "Not in Every Case" refers to the rollouts at the Nissan Canton plant when it was new or maybe the supplier issues in Alabama at the Mercedes plant when it first opened.
