dealership cant lose money?
by tha_lildude on Mon Nov 10 19:05:17 PST 2008
i dont understand this. dealerships in the lower 48 consistantly sell vehicles for under invoice and on top of that, you get the rebate. say a truck is 32,000 msrp, the invoice is 30,000, and the rebate is 5,000. alaska dealerships right now say 30,000 plus 5,000 rebate. and consistantly say "we cant lose money". ok well how can dealerships down in the states sell a vehicle for under 30,000 plus rebate. example i got a quote from bill pierre, the truck was 1,000 UNDER invoice plus rebate of 7,000. putting the truck at almost 11.5k under msrp. so to jjf, how do i go about getting a truck, msrp of 37,550, red tag plus 6500 rebate on it now puts it at 28,133. how can i get it for 10k off?!? its just frustrating to me. thank you for your help! i know all about dealer holdback and everything. i know when gm says ok red tag on there vehicles, that the dealerships get an additional incentive to sell. and they still simply wont budge.

Yeah I heard about it. My wifes family is all over Seattle and they knew I worked for Huling. They called to ask me if I knew AG Dillard. I did! I worked with him for a month at Bill Pierre before I took the job at Huling. He came in to Huling about two months after I moved back to Minneapols. As the F&I manager I worked pertty close with the guys at the "Auto Loan Store" - we shared the same building. Steve Huling was a really good guy, it's sh*tty that that happend to his group. The worst part was that my very good friend, Leslie who I worked with in Minneaoplis, set up the interview to get AG the job at Huling. Leslie was the CAC rep and met AG when he went down to some group Yakima. She saw the numbers he was doing and thought he would be a good fit at Huling. She didn't know about his dark-side. The drugs and gambling. Thanks to AG, he set the reputation of every carsalesman back about 30 years.

Mitsubishi i-MIEV price quote for one bought in the U.S. erroneously at around $38,000. I have a hard time believing Mitsubishi will actually try and even ask $28,000 for it's new international all-EV. Now it seems quite possible. Although I do like the idea of one of these, I need a longer range per charge-up than 100 miles. And I will pay $20,000 for one, maybe a titch more, but not $28,000 and certainly not $38,000. Yikes and spikes! Who here thinks Uncle Sam will throw in $8,000-$18,000 of incentive cash for us to buy one of these groundbreakers? And reduce our dependence on foreign oil, eh? On the lowered hydro levels, I recall when we were in Pierre, SD, in 2005, Lake Oahe's levels were continuously dropping. This is a huge lake, a Pierre boating and fishing favorite at the north edge of the city. Its boat ramps were no longer taking you out to deep enough water to drop your boat in. 30% hydro generated production is not far off from the truth as far as this lake anyway.

PIerre - way back in March I posted about running out of gaz with my 08 Prius - this being the first time in my life - anyway I did about 47 miles after the blinking started before the motor stopped - I was on the QEW close to Niagara - going 110Km/H. when oops the big red light turned on - so with the electric motor - I did about 1-2 km and was watching my battery. I decided to stop because the book clearly says don't empty your battery. Everytime - my light started blinking in the past I would go maybe 10-20 miles and tank up and I also saw that I had lots of gaz left - like I could still do at least 100KM and more. Anyway - I now know when it blinks - I find a gaz station. I still love our 2 Prius's (05-08) and I placed an order to get a new 08 for my wife and will have an 05 to sell in September - any buyers around?
Finding a dealer for X-plan
by papalima on Fri Jun 20 00:26:00 PDT 2008
Man, I've had a bit of a struggle finding a dealer who was willing to sell a 2009 on the X-plan price. Finally got one that said they would; going to do the paperwork on Saturday. Hopefully. Things change and if they screw me over I can tell you I'll be one PO'd guy, driving over 60 miles to get the shaft. Until I know for sure either way I won't post the dealer name... ;) But I definitely will tell you that Bill Pierre Ford, on Lake City Way in Seattle, is a bunch of jerks. I went in there because they said they could handle a FEH on the X-plan. Three hours (a looong talk about the rig, a decent test drive, and then some waiting around) later they not only said that they wouldn't do the X-plan, but they pretended they were offering me a great deal on a 2008 FEH... with a second sticker that added NINE THOUSAND DOLLARS to the MSRP. Yep, 9 grand. On a 2008, which I was clear I didn't want, in Kiwi Green, which I was clear I didn't want, instead of the X-plan which I was clear I was looking for. Jerks. Don't use them if you're in the Seattle area!
