Re: Help with purchase of Ford Focus [mmcm1886]

A well optioned 08 Focus Ses or equivalent, msrp 18500 or so barely has a trade in value (07) used of 11000. (look up a used 07 on kbb.com) This is what your new 08 will be worth in 12 months. A useful target on a loaded one is about 13000+ or less. A base with auto around 11000 or less. 5000+ off msrp has not been uncommon on the Focus in the late summer for the last few years. At these price levels the Focus may be far more attractive than a Hyundai accent, chev Aveo, kia rio, etc, with good mpg, however no hatchback is available. If you can't get near 5000 off msrp ( and you should) the mazda3 s touring value editon sedan and its other models then become far more attractive. The mazda6 i sport value editon 4cyl msrp 21200 is frequently available in the low 16s and is good. Also some have been successful in getting the 09 Hyundai 4cyl sonata (20000 msrp) in the high 15000 range, and the 08 Elantra in the high 12000 range. (usually in CA or NY area). Hyundai has a helluva warranty, these vehicles are higher quality, and should be explored before settling on a Focus unless lots off. good luck --jjf Hello, I want to purchase a 2008 Ford Focus SE with automatic transmission in vermillion red, charcoal black cloth interior with ABS, Sync and Sirius radio. Thanks for the previous information regarding getting email quotes, I plan on following this advice. The standard vehicle price MSRP is $15,585 on this vehicle. The charges for the options that I want in addition are roughly $815 for automatic, $385 for ABS, $395 for Sync, plus $195 for the Sirius. Could anyone give me an idea of what rock bottom price I should be shooting for on this vehicle including dealer fees?

Kia Warranty
by vermillion on Thu Oct 04 07:02:47 PDT 2007
Well, I had to sue Kia for the Warranty. I had 86000 miles on my 04 Sorento when the rear main seal failed, and the crankshaft would no longer align due to elongation. Kia showed at Court, and blamed EVERYTHING on dealer and said Kia never denied Warranty. So now I have to amend lawsuit to add Dealer. Dealer very angry at Kia and said they will go to Court with their witnesses who spoke with Kia when Warranty denied. We'll see what happens next.

I agree with you 100%. I owned a Hyundia once and swore I would never buy another. My gut feeling was not to buy a KIA and I should have listen to my gut. I am going to try and trade this thing in this weekend. Wish me luck, I think I may be stuck with it for a while.

Please note, the Warranty denial is NOT a dealership issue. My dealership thought this should be covered, it was the Kia Factory Rep who denied the Warranty, then refused to take my call. When my Service Manager tried calling him while I was present, the factory rep. wouldn't take his call, nor call him back. I have been told that both Kia and Hyundai (owned by same people) cannot keep up with their 100000 mile warranty, so they have made a blanket decision to deny everything possible. The only recourse is to STOP BUYING THESE VEHICLES.

kia has alot of loop-holes to deny warrenty even if you service the vehicle yourself or have an indepedent do it and keep VERY detailed records kia also seems to be very stingy on "policy warrenty" (bending a little bit) as i read my owners manual i fall into "severe service as well as 99.999% of all in the usa meaning engine oil changes every 3 months or 3,000 miles which ever in first i follow the "sever service" impilcity and service the vehicle myself and have exemplory records to prove it. since i am a reteired mechanic. almost everything the kia dealers has done including simple oil changes they have screwed up !! if they reject a warrenty claim on me i won't stop. i will spend big bucks on a lawsuit if i have to i will notify all the local tv networks and state and local agencys i will be heard around the the usa !!
