Re: T6 AWD Transmissions [badtrany]
by jcorsillo on Mon Sep 15 08:24:06 PDT 2008
Our dealer in Westport got Volvo to pick up the cost of the Transmission, but I'm still out $1800 to pay for the installation. I spoke to Volvo headquarters and they refused to do anything else. By the way, the total cost to replace the transmission was quoated as $4200, so $6000 seems like highway robbery.

If you are willing to travel into CT. Try Lexus of Westport. The offer that was made to me was invoice plus $299 doc fee. The have plenty of inventory (on IS250s at least) and are very motivated. I have a contact I dealt with and I could email you the deal I was offered, email is in my profile. My wife and I opted for the G35X, although if we...I mean she wanted the IS I would not have been disappointed. Mike

Hello, The Infiniti dealer in West haven is who we were working with and may ultimately still lease from. The East Haven Lexus dealership, I know very well. Their internet manager is spot on, gives you quotes with all the details. Most often times he's the lowest or there about. They often don't have the exact vehicle you're looking for and sell their cars before they hit their lot. The IS250 awd we were quoted was roughly $1400 out of pocket $470 per month CT tax included. MSRP was $39,990 (ish) This was from Lexus of Westport. They are often much more aggressive than other Lexus dealers and they do have plenty of stock and are motivated, I believe they're #2 in CT (not saying much since maybe only 3 or 4 dealers total). My email, is in my profile and I'd provide you with my contact and the deal we were offered at Lexus of Westport. The salesperson was extremely professional and the deal they put together was the best we received from several dealerships in CT and NY. If the Lexus is the vehicle my wife wanted we'd be picking it up tomorrow from Westport with no regrets. As far as picking the G35X (eventually), for us the main difference is the additional rear seat room. The car also has 50% more HP than the IS with about the same gas mileage, the amenities about equal as well (Nav in the Lexus has it's advantages though, I miss saying "I'm hungry" and having my choice of restaurants. I actually think the G is the better of the two cars for the few reasons stated above. I do however think the fit and finish overall, but primarily the interior is better in the Lexus. Infiniti is not yet at the Lexus level, however the EX35 closed the gap IMHO. My wife's comments often frame things in ways that make me laugh but then I can see her point. She thinks these are two completely different vehicles, and said, "The IS is for young rich kids like what the Civic is for not so rich kids." I've also owned two Lexus to date so maybe the been there done that mentality plays a part in it. Mike
Not able to negotiate?!
by newtoprius on Sun Dec 02 16:33:58 PST 2007
Hello - I would like to lease an '08 Prius (Standard with package #3 plus leather). I have been to two dealerships in Connecticut where I live (Danbury and Westport). Due to extremely high demand, neither has ever or is willing to negotiate. I see on this forum that many of you have been able to haggle in other parts of the country. Am I being given the runaround or what? Thanks in advance for your advice...
Boston ES350 Purcchase price paid this week
by dinoeck on Sat Nov 17 13:03:42 PST 2007
OK folks, I found this forum invaluable to establish "real world" pricing this week when I bought my black/black ES350... So here are my final details: 2008 ES 350 with a premium package + Full size spare Rear seat air bags HID lighting Heated & ventilated front seats Bluetooth Cargo net & Mat 6 CD audio Sticker was $38,502. Paid $33,739 + $259 doc fee + TTL Purchased from Herb Chambers Lexus. Shopped Ira Lexus, Lexus of Northboro, Lexus of Watertown and Lexus of Westport, CT (Via Costco purchase program). The internet saleswoman at Herb Chambers basically said "call me last and I will take $500 off your lowest price" -- which she did. I can tell you this: Watertown, Westport and Northboro TOLD me to buy from Herb Chambers at that price. They ALL said "that price is less than what we pay for the cars, you found yourself a great deal". At that point I guess I figured I had hit rock bottom (3 dealers opting out from a "I will drive there and buy now" phone call!). So far, the car is flawless (oops, hope I don't jinx myself) and I have been amazed at the gas mileage (~28mpg for real-world not-all-highway driving) Good luck to the rest of you! Dino
