Easley, SC Car Consumer Discussions

Update by curte on Tue Jul 14 09:33:21 PDT 2009

Just wanted to give an update...I was able to get the following on July 2nd...been out of town. Picked up the car that night and then headed out for the beach a few days later - btw, my wife loves her new pilot and it did very well on our 5hr ride with a 9-month old and 7-yr old. 2010 Pilot Touring 2WD with RES and NAV Price with premium running boards with lights and cross bars installed = $36,398 Tax, tag and dealer fees $624 for a total of $37,022 OTD I was a bit reluctant with this deal - it was the first pure internet/email car shopping experience for me. I was worried that the numbers would be different once I showed up in person at the dealership. I recommend Hendrick Honda of Easley, SC. The numbers were exactly the same as presented during the negotiations. Also, they found the color and had the car ready for delivery in about 24 hrs.

Re: Prices paid when using 36 mo 0 percent financing? [redberry] by Eno on Wed Nov 26 08:06:04 PST 2008

I just purchased a 2009 Mazda5 Sport, no options at all in Easley, SC for $18,477 inc tax, title, tags. When I mentioned I wanted the 0% financing for 36 months they said that would increase the sales price so I said forget it. I plan on paying off by the end of March or April 2009 so the 0% financing wasn't important to me. I don't recall how much 0% financing would have increased the price. I traded in a 2002 Saturn L-100 with 61.5K miles on it for $3800. I felt like I got took a bit there. I felt $4K was more appropriate but they said they go by Black Book Values, not Blue Book, Edmunds or NADA...it always seems to be some one else they base their offer on. Fortunately their final offer on the Mazda5 was a couple hundred dollars lower than what I thought they would settle on so I figured the lower Mazda5 offer made up for the trade-in offer. I also put down $4500 and will be clamping down on all expenses until I get it paid off. Not going out to eat gives the wife an incentive to agree to hurry up and pay it off so we can resume that activity again. I did a lot of searching and I think getting a Mazda5 out the door for $17K might be optimistic unless they come up with some rebates next month but given the sales for the Mazda5 are on of the few vehicles that have increased I don't think there is much of a chance of rebates being offered for the 5. Good luck

I hate that you are having problems with your 350. My 250 continues to give me great service. I took it to the dealer saturday for its 30000 mile service and then the wife and I headed up the blue ridge parkway toward mt mitchell to see the fall colors. 290 mile trip averaged 15.5 mpg. Back in august we took the camper down to the outer banks. If I held it down between 60 and 65 I got about 10 mpg. However on one stretch lets say I was in a hurry to get the beach. Averaging about 80 to 85 mph mileage dropped to about 7mpg. Camper weighs about 9000 lbs empty is 35 feet long and 11 1/2 feet high. I easley had another 2000 lbs in cargo and passengers. At 85 mph truck had power to spare. Needless to say I'm still very happy with mine. I still average around 14 mpg in my day to day driving. I hope you can get the problems with your truck resolved. You might try to have the dealer re flash the main computer. It controls the fuel and air ratios and that has a lot to do with power and mileage. Good Luck

In the same article a plus for those that brew their own biodiesel.. Raleigh, N.C. — People who make their own bio-diesel are now exempt from the state motor fuels tax. Governor Easley signed the bill into law Friday. The move saves the home brewer of alternative fuel about $2,500. State law defines biodiesel as "any fuel or mixture of fuels made from agricultural products or animal fats.” Taking it easy on alternative-fuel users is one more squeeze on road-building money, however. Gasoline revenues have declined as incentives increased and auto companies built more efficient cars.
