First Three Month's of Ownership
by highlander7 on Sat Aug 16 18:58:47 PDT 2008
Have owned the Platinum going on 3 month’s and have not been disappointed. My wife appreciates the ride and comfort of this truck vs. her RX-330 or my former 4-Runner that this truck replaced. 2958 miles of everyday driving, occasional trips to the Jersey shore and for the past two weeks, vacationing in the mountains of New Hampshire. Trip from Southern New Jersey to New Hampshire: Our overall average fuel mileage to and from New Hampshire was 16.8 mpg driving 1392 miles on this trip. This includes two rides up Mt Washington, bumper to bumper traffic jams in North Conway, NH, winding mountains roads, 75 – 80 mph driving on the NY State Thruway and NJ Turnpike. Actual mileage on trip back to Southern Jersey was 18.9. After the Sequoia is broken in this may improve a little. And driving at 65 – 70 would no doubt help, maybe increase to about 20-21 on non-stop interstate driving. With gas prices in our area for Sunoco at $3.47, the discount stations at $3.42, and falling fast, it is easing the pain of the $4.00 plus prices of a few weeks ago. If this price drop continues, maybe these big trucks will start selling again? Does not matter to us, we bought when gas prices were high because we need this type vehicle and believe it is the best vs. the competition. No real complaints at all. Dynamic Laser Cruise is probably the one option I should have considered, for highway driving it is very helpful. And rain sensitive wipers and more positions for the passenger seat would improve the Platinum. Other than these items, this is an amazing truck. My 2002 and 2004 4-Runner’s were great vehicles, still are. The Sequoia, for us, is perfect! For the folks considering this truck: The discounts and 0% financing may not be available much longer so if you are seriously considering, this may be the time to purchase. And these incentives (just a guess) may only apply to the 2008 inventory so if you are looking for a particular model and color options, these very well may become more limited as it gets closer to the 2009 model change. Doubt there will be any change.
Real world MPG

Just drove from Providence, RI to North Conway, NH, and back in a 2007 Sport AT and averaged 38.5+ MPG. This is with the A/C on. I usually drive 70-80 mph, and I'm not afraid to go past 3000 RPM when needed. On top of that, the car was loaded up with camping gear. Amazing! (I just wish it had more oomph between 2nd and 3rd gear, but the paddle shifters help a lot.)

I am about to begin shopping for an EX-L in the New Orleans area. Does anyone have any recent experience with prices and at which dealerships in this area? I also travel to Baton Rouge and Alexandria, LA and Conway, AR often and could purchase there if the price was better. Any recommendations or experience to share? Thanks, GHR

I think the estimate for the Phoenix SUV is around 60K. Here is an email I got from Phoenix Motorcars just recently: Thank you very much for registering your name on the Phoenix Motorcars electric vehicle waitlist. We have received an enormous amount of interest from prospective customers like you this past year. And, with your encouragement and support, we have developed a best-in-class, electric vehicle that offers drivers the following performance benefits: · 100+ mile range; · Speeds of 95 m.p.h. carrying four passengers and a full payload; · 0 to 60 mph in 10 seconds; · Long life lithium titanate battery; · 10 minute recharge capability (using a 480V charger); and · Availability in both SUT and SUV configurations. Please note that we are also working with a leading vehicle customizer, Darkside Motoring™, to create a limited edition vehicle to celebrate our launch. In fact, you may have already seen our Red & Black Darkside show car. Likewise, our 2008 limited edition model will offer a premium paint, interior and wheel package. As you may have already heard, we will be delivering our first production vehicles to customers this year. Accordingly, we would like to offer you the opportunity to pre-order a Phoenix Motorcars’ electric vehicle. If you are interested in placing an order, please sign and return the form below. A Phoenix Motorcars Sales Representative will then contact you to discuss the necessary details. Please note that pre-orders we will require a down-payment (25% for standard delivery, 100% for priority delivery), which shall be fully refundable up to 60 days prior to the delivery date. For those of you who simply wish to remain on the waitlist, no action is needed at this time. We will keep you posted on our production plans, and look forward to working with you. We would like to thank you once again for your continued support. Please do not hesitate to contact Robyn Conway at (909) 987-0815 if you have any questions. While I was driving to Myrtle Beach on vacation last week I was in a small town called Conway in SC. I was at a stop light and noticed a small hand painted sign to my left. It said Fresh Vegetables Too Blocks It instantly reminded me of the grammar police here at Edmunds :D I asked my wife, "How in the hell do they turn fresh vegetables into blocks?" :D
Northern California Purchase -- Odyssey EXL with DVD (no Nav)
by jabber888 on Mon Jun 11 21:21:25 PDT 2007
Have been checking out this forum for the last month. Thanks to the threads, I think I got a fair deal though many members probably did better. I just wanted to make sure that I wasn't taken to the cleaners. Unfortunately, I missed the Memorial Day Sales and cannot wait for any July 4th specials. I would have like to wait till end of model year to see if I could get an even better deal or to actually wait for the 08's. (Bluetooth and MP3 jack would be nice!) But I had to have the van this week. Below is the breakdown. EXL with RES (No Nav) Nimbus Gray with Olive Leather Interior. $28,895.81 selling price which includes the destination charge. $2388.44 Sales Tax (CA Tax of about 8.25%) $55 Doc Prep Fee $8.75 CA Tire Fee $10 CA County Fee $242 New Veh Lic Fee The carpet mats which are included Full Tank of Gas (I think everyone gets this.) Included Honda Original Cargo Tray Included Honda Original Weather Mats for 3 rows $31,600 OTD Took the 2.9% - 36 months for the entire $31,600. $918 a month. Total 3 year interest would add up to $1440. No pre-payment penalty after $75 of interest paid. No trade in. Purchased at Anderson Honda, Palo Alto, CA Assisted by Salesman Conway Chan. Only had to deal with their salesmanship tactics a few times. Experience with the staff was professional and courteous. I did not purchase the extended warranty at time of veh purchase. I'm thinking of calling the finance guy the next couple of days and offering $1,000 for 8 yrs/100,000, no deductible, with cash back. Not sure if they will bit...
