Re: Catalytic Converter Issue [dmforce]
by steinba1 on Tue Nov 18 07:35:08 PST 2008
Sorry for the delayed response, I have been waiting for a call from a Regional Service Representative. Which I just received. Nissan USA will not be providing me any financial assistance for the Cat Converter problem. Their stance is that if it is past 80k miles it is no longer their problem. I can not convey my level of frustration. If this was a unique/isolated situation I would have no problem with the decision, but given the fact that the issue is widespread for a lot of Altimas I feel that this is very poor customer service. I would not recommend the Nissan Altima to anyone with the slightest interest of any model or year.

Having it on some dealer network intranet means nothing until units are actually built It does if it's an ORDER GUIDE. They are ordered before they get built..... Of course not, because the reason is so they can look at sales for the sedan and decide if it's profitable to build the 5-door, and they don't want to tell anyone that. It is very profitable to build both versions. What evidence do you have to the support your claim? Apparently the info provided to me by Mazda is not good enough for you. In today's global economy you just have to drop the low volume stuff to stay profitable For domestics maybe, not Asian brands. Mazda just shelled out $500 million to buy their company back from Ford. Mazda is not hurting for cash. Remember, they are going to turn a big profit this year, despite the down market.
Need Advice

Hi Car_man, I am new to this forum and to leases. I am looking to lease a new G35x or 7 sedan, and I am not sure if I should go for an 08 or 09. My hope is to get one with premium, navigation and with wood. What can I expect to pay on a 3 yr lease with 12k miles a year. I live in MA and there is a lot of 08's and no sign of 09's so I am not sure to try and get a good deal on an 08 or wait. Any advice would be appreciated and sorry if I have not provided enough info to answer the questions. Anyone in MA who knows of a good dealer or deal they got on 08 would be helpful too. I am a complete novice and could use all the help I can get. Much appreciated,
Re: Texas Lease - 2008 G35 RWD [cadenhead]

You're very welcome, cadenhead. Unfortunately, I am not aware of any resource that provides accurate information on manufacturers' lease programs to the general public. Yes, Infiniti Financial Services' lease program varies by trim level, term, and mileage allowance. Adding the $595 acquisition fee into this car's capitalized cost would raise its monthly payment from $455 per month to $472 per month. You can use the formula that it outlined in the following article to play around with the payments yourself if you want: Calculate Your Own Lease Payment. Re: Price for ES 350 2008 [nalinirph]

No problem you are very welcome. Edmunds has some good information on buying an extended warranty (See Tips & Advice) . If you plan on keeping the car beyond the extended warranty that Lexus offers 4yrs/50,000 miles then an extended warranty would be a good option. I imagine you could negotiate the extended warranty price, but oftentimes they are offered by third parties (through the dealer) so there may not be any wiggle room there. Also Lexus has a high reliability rate, so consider that against cost. You may want to opt for an after market warranty policy which would be cheaper than the dealer plan, and if you are fortunate enough to have GEICO as your insurance provider, then you can purchase their Mechanical Breakdown Insurance which covers everything an extended warranty covers for about $64/year. This price is so much cheaper than any dealer plan. Check with your insurance provider even if you don't have GEICO, they may offer it and it will probably be much cheaper than the dealer plan. Also another good option is GAP insurance. This insurance would pay the difference in the event your car is totaled and your insurance company does not cover what you 'owe' on the car, which is often the case with even high end cars. GAP would make up the difference meaning you would walk away debt free. Dealer plans are expensive, check with your insurance provider, they will be much cheaper.
Re: 2009 Civic EX Manual Transmission - finally got One [takeitec143]
by sparkland on Mon Nov 17 18:11:54 PST 2008
Takeittec143, Looks like you got a good deal on the car, however when reading down the list of charges, the warranty cost seems a little steep. If you would have purchased the Honda Care Warranty from an online dealer such as Saccucci or Bernardi Honda the cost for a plan covering 7 yrs and 80,000 miles would ONLY have been $575 with zero deductible. That would have been less than the amount you would still pay even with half of the warranty refunded. You could also purchase a plan for 8 yrs and 100,000 miles for $805. If it were me, I would cancel the present extended warranty--they will credit your account--not give you cash back and purchase from one of the two aforementioned online providers. You can make 12 equal monthly payments if you prefer. Please be assured I am not trying to stir up trouble, just save you a little money. I bought a Civic and a Ridgeline last year and purchased the Honda Care warranty for both of them over the internet. Brad
