Re: Leaking Map Lights [lhoare]

So we went back to good old Tarbox Jeep in North Kingstown RI on Saturday of this past weekend due to LEAKING MAP LIGHTS...AGAIN!! This is the 4th time they have leaked, on top of all the other issues that we have had. I called Chrysler, as they told me to if we had the issue again. After speaking with someone in India who wanted to tell me I had free road side assistance for 10 minutes, I asked to be escalated to Corporate. The customer service was less than helpful. They said they would put a note and escalate it but I had to bring it in for them to fix it. Now, I am not a mechanic or a design engineer, but I am thinking that if it could be fixed, it would be by now. So, we drove 120 miles home from New Hamshire to bring the car in on Saturday morning. (I wish I got paid for all the time, gas and energy I had to put into this), I overhear the service manager when he comes in say that "this car is just ONE BIG PROBLEM"...no kidding!! So, they look at the Compass and they can't "recreate" the symptoms by throwing buckets of water on it, but they do see the water in the map lights. The Service Manager tells me that they are not going to attempt to fix it but that he has placed a call to his DM and will call me on Monday. Well, it's Monday and I still haven't heard from him. It's raining again in RI, so we haven't drove it for fear of the waterfall in the car. Oh yah, and I haven't heard from him yet! If they do not offer to replace it...with a different model of course, then we are going to file a Lemon Law claim. Just to recap these are the issues we have had: Car purchase 2/2007 Sunroof Seal not properly "sealed" - June 2007 Leaking Map Lights - February 4, 2008 Leaking Map Lights - February 13, 2008 Windshield Wipers replaced - February 2008 Leaking Map Lights - March 2008 Cut Rear Washer fluid line (Service caused Issue) - March 08 Grease Stained Headliner (Service caused Issue) - March 08 Positive Battery Lead not connected to battery (Service caused Issue) - March 08 Windshield Wipers replaced - March 08 Leaking Map Lights - August 2008 You be the judge.
Legacy GT LTD 5-speed for $24,884
by beefheart on Fri May 06 12:10:46 PDT 2005
I just bought a new 2005 silver Legacy GT LTD 5-speed from Pilgrim Subaru in North Kingstown, RI. The car is brand new, not a demo. Here are the numbers: Total MSRP: $29,220 Sale Price: $24,884 (includes destination charge and all fees) Deposit: $500 Trade In: $4,000 Financed: $20,384 for 48 months @ 2.9% (dealer financing) Taxes & Reg.: $1,491 (paid separately) I e-mailed the dealer on Sunday night with a quote request for this car. On Monday morning, I received a response that they could sell me the car for $24,884 including the destination charge and all fees. I went down the next day and bought it. Not only did I get a great sale price, but the dealer was also able to get me the 2.9% financing, and I got a reasonable amount for my trade in. The whole transaction was smooth and stress free, and the dealership had a nice laid back atmosphere. I'll evaluate the car once the engine is broken in and I can play with it, but I love it so far.
Re: 06 Jetta TDI? [cdstraw]

The VW dealer doesn't know their product. I work for a large VW/BMW/Mazda/Jeep dealer in RI and we have gotten word that the TDI's are about 6 months out. The only thing VW has discontinued for sure is the Jetta wagon in this market.
Re: Jetta TDI, Civic Hybrid, or Prius? [prospectus]

Hi- Just my 2 cents as a VW salesman. Consider how long you plan to keep the car. If you're the type to drive them into the ground, I've seen plenty of TDI's around with 250-300K on them. My concerns with the Hybrid technology are that eventually the battery packs need replacement. When is a big question mark, but it will cost thousands. Regardless of any poor quality claims others make, the TDI is a bullet proof and proven engine.

Not a firm ETA, but TDI's are expected Late May, early June on the new model. You're right.. I only have 1 TDI Jetta left on my lot and two TDI Golf's.
