Re: I am getting a trans at 90,000 miles [scaredofmyvan]
by jgenovese on Wed Aug 13 08:57:23 PDT 2008
You are very lucky. I am guessing you went to Norris Ford in Easton?. I drove all the way over there from Annapolis to get a recall service done on my F150 to avoid Koons Ford of Annapolis because they are such liars and cowards. It is too late for them to help me with my Freestar issue but, I must say, that my experience at Norris Ford of Easton was excellent. The contrast between Norris Ford of Easton and Koons Ford of Annapolis was like night and day. I still have to wonder how koons Ford of Annapolis stays in business. Anyway, PLEASE LET US KNOW WHAT THE OUTCOME IS REGARDING WHAT THE ACTUAL DEFECT WAS. This information would really help the rest of us who have been put in harms way by Ford and then totally betrayed and abandoned when our transmissions failed. (That is putting it nicely). My 2008 Azera Mileage
by dcrobbie22041 on Sat Sep 20 21:36:34 PDT 2008
I live in the Washington DC area and have owned my car since July of this year. I average around 16 mpg in the day-to-day stop and go traffic around the suburbs. However, when I get on the highway or open road it goes way up! Two weeks after I bought it, I took a road trip to Tilghman Island, MD. Reset the MPG calculator there and started driving back to Alexandria, VA. On the two lane, open road from Tilghman to Easton, MD, I averaged 30 mpg. Filled up with cheap gas in Easton, MD and drove home. Made it back to DC and then home with an average of about 28 mpg, which is what Hyundai claims the car does. Have had the same/better performance now that the car is broken in. During weeks when I'm doing 50+ percent highway driving, I'm getting about 22 mpg overall. Of course, this varies on whether I'm having a lead-footed day or not; a sprint from Falls Church to Herndon in less than 15 minutes on the Dulles Toll Road does not contribute to good mileage (but was a hellava lot of fun)! Hope this helps. Overall, my Azera gets about the same mileage as the 2001 XG300 I traded in for it, despite the larger engine and heavier car.

yes kriebebw...I am not far from Easton at all. I have driven thru there many times on my way up to the pocono mountains. When I am ready to buy..I am going to give all dealers their last shot and then go with the best deal. If I have to drive to Fitz for that deal..no sweat. Please keep me and others up to date on you deals locally, and non local. 66 ravs on that easton lot seems like a whole lotta inventory to get rid of in that small town. I would certainly drive there also. Where I live, there is lots of money around. Alot of people are well off, and maybe that is why cars sell faster where I am located. I just wish I was one of those people...arghhh. My max on the purchase is 26K OTD. I would love to get the v6 rav limited..but it is a little over my budget. The v6 base will suffice though. Of course by me getting a little less of a Rav model, I am not going to get us much off as I would getting a v6 Limited. But I still expect to make a good deal when the time comes. Right now I am at $2642 under MSRP..but it is basically a little under invoice. I am hoping to get at least $3300 to $3500 under MSRP by the time I am done.

rupter, It appears that you do not live far from me. I would not rule out a trip to Fitzgerald's when you decided it is buying time. I've been keeping an eye on a local dealership's inventory (Milham - Easton, PA) over the last few months. In contrast to your observation, my thoughts are that these vehicles are moving of the lot very slowly. There are presently 66 2008 RAV's still on Milham's lot and now the 2009's will be showing up very soon. I would think these guys are going to have incentive very soon, if not now, to start moving these 2008 models. Two specific stock# vehicles for which I have potential interest have been on the lot since I started looking back in June timeframe. The longer the vehicle sits on the lot...the more money lost by the dealer. I also made a trip to MotorWorld in Wilkes-Barre and did some test drives on the RAV and the Mitsubishi Outlander. Any good or bad vibes on MotorWorld? They did not pressure me at all when I came in for the test drives and I never left my name or contact info. with them. This may be because I was in the 'research stage' of the buying process. My intent is to contact Fitzgerald's and get a delivered price quote on a vehicle. I will use that as a bargaining tool locally and go from there. If the local guys refuse to move on price I will drive to Fitzgerald's to buy...assuming they can get my vehicle of interest.
Mazda3 S Touring Sedan, AT
by isabel70 on Sat Jul 12 16:33:01 PDT 2008
Just signed my paperwork today. Used the edmunds.com emailer and then negotiated with the 2 lowest via email. 2008.5 Mazda3 Sedan Automatic S Touring Moonroof/6CD/mp3 Metro Grey MSRP $21,015 Deal was done in 3 emails and a trip today to sign the paperwork that took about 20 minutes. $19,683 + 6% tax $1190.31, new tags/registration/fees $154.62 = $21,028 OTD. Financing thru my company's credit union for 3.99% x 60 months. Worked with Young VW-Mazda in Easton, PA and was very pleased with their Internet Manager. I gave up on my local dealer (Scott Mazda-Volvo in Allentown, PA) when they tried to play games that I didn't appreciate, ie. "You have to come in to get the best deal, the price is only good today until 4pm, Edmunds' TMV prices are always too low," etc.etc. Even if Scott's was willing to match or beat the deal, I figured I didn't want to reward bad behavior with a sale. I went with Young also because they treated me like a human being and didn't pressure me after I requested the quote. Another dealer literally called me 7 times the first day to 'make sure I'd gotten and understood' his email, then had his manager email. I know I could have held out for lower given the 2009's coming out soon, but I was happy with the price and very happy with the dealer. Thanks for the help, Iz
Deal - 09 Sonata GLS 4 cyl auto w/PEP
by nearphila on Sat Jun 28 08:52:27 PDT 2008
I highly recommend Stateline Hyundai in Phillipsburg, NJ, just across the river from Easton, PA, and yesterday bought an '09 Sonata GLS 4cyl automatic w/PEP (and floor and cargo mats) there. Thanks to those on the forum who alerted me to them! From the first email, when they provided a detailed quote with all the numbers, to the sale yesterday, they handled it like a car sale should be handled. Including a test drive, they had me in and out of there yesterday in no more than 45 minutes. All numbers were exactly as set forth in their email - no surprises. It is an hour away from me, but they beat my local dealers by at least $800 and had the Slateblue color we wanted, so it was well worth the trip up there. Here are the numbers: 20,900 MSRP 20,230 Invoice (1,900) Discount (1,500) Rebate 1,010 PA tax 6% (no tax on rebate or discount) 135 PA tag 199 Doc fee 18,174 Out the door price Additionally, they provided a $100 gas card as indicated on their website. I'll gladly provide the "no pressure" and very good salesman's name and info if you email me (I would get a referral fee if you buy there).
