GM also has the option of locking the gates and hiring all those new 12 million citizens Obama will be swearing in on the 21st of January. UAW or no UAW, GM has problems which have nothing to do with labor issues. All the auto makers are having hard times and this has more to do with economic conditions. However, if the 12 million were to be hired for arguments sake. How many of them would be able to afford GM cars and trucks? How many of those who make sneakers are able to buy a pair of those sneakers? This is the greatest middle class borne of unions in the history of the world. Which in turn has made America the greatest consumer nation in the history of the planet and the envy of every other nation. Certainly your not suggesting that we race to the bottom?

The shareholders are the risk takers and maybe they should be asked to make concessions. I would say they have, seeing their stock go down to about 10 cents on the dollar over the last year. Bankruptcy would probably send it to Zero. Most Union Contracts are for 3 years. That is not until death do us part. I just don't see GM hanging on another 2 years. GM also has the option of locking the gates and hiring all those new 12 million citizens Obama will be swearing in on the 21st of January. Voila' instant cheap labor. That should make you happy. They can move into all the empty homes the UAW workers leave behind. Five families per house. Pay minimum wage and limited benefits.

If you are getting coolant circulating through the rear heater core, you have heat, just no air flow through the heater core. The blend door regulates the amount of air that is diverted through the core. It sounds like the blend door is not in a position to do this job. The actuator motor is self calibrating and will seek the full open and full closed position and electronically record the information and regulate between the two extents in response to the temperature request. It sounds like the motor is not calibrated and is stuck in the wrong position. If you haven't already done it, you need to force the system to reset to correct the problem(learned this from Bill Gates). You can trace the fuses and pull/replace or just disconnect the battery, wait for all capacitive charges to dissipate, and reconnect. This will force a full system reset and the motor might come to life. If the computer was running with a stripped motor, it is "confused" and will have to relearn the new motor. Information on how to check the operation of the motor independent of the automobile controls has been completed and will be posted this weekend on www.heatertreater.net. This will enable you to check the motor when it is disconnected.

The Tollway here has open road tolling which means that if you have an I-Pass (transponder) you don't even go through a tollboth. You can drive from one end to the other and its just like driving on a freeway, no stops. Where tolls are collected there is and area where cash paying customers basically exit to an area off to the side pay their toll and then re-enter the tollway. So where I get on the tollway going to work the entrance ramp feeds right into that area where cash paying travelers have to go through so I have to go through that gate. But in the far left side there is a lane for the I-pass. Well I am in a line of cars that move over to that far left lane for the I-Pass and I am following an Acura. Well the Acura decides to leave that lane and go through one of the manual lanes. So after he leaves the lane I start to close the gap between me and the car infront of me. As I do that the Acura decides to get back into the I-Pass lane and almost clips me. :surprise: Later on a few miles up the road I am in the far left lane following a Mustang. Traffic infront of the Mustang was open and the Mustang was being a LLC. Traffic couldn't go around as traffic was in the right lanes just infront of the Mustang with no real room to pass the Mustang. Well after a very short time the Mustang merges over behind the car in the lane to the right of us and I start to overtake them both. As I am passing the Mustang he starts to merge back into the left lane. :surprise:

sorry they pulled the article for some reason. I'll try to re-post it if I can find it. It was from SF Gate (San Francisco Chronicle's Online News Service) and was entitled "Detroit Must Die". it's rather too large to post in full here.
