Re: price paid [snap919]

There are a ton of muranos on the lots. The leases offered by nissan require about 3k payments for all their cars. It includes the first payment. The 39 month length is funky because it leaves you without the warranty for 3 monthes. Very convenient if they find a problem when you turn the critter in. I opted for the 36 month deal which probably raised my payments a few bucks but they were VERY accomodating. They want to move cars and my credit rating was comfortably above 820. The taxes were 1900 and with license and fees including the 3000 dollars I was just over 5k down.. The deal they were getting from nissan was good for this month according to the saleman but who knows. With the economy the deals may be better in december or january. I'm not too worried I didn't wait --- if i have to I'll scarf down as many Otis Spunkmeyer $2.00 muffins and guzzle mugs of Starbucks over the next 3 years to make up the difference.[burp] The bottom line on the deal was that I negotiated the price at $29266 which was almost 5k off sticker[34240]. Taxes and license are extra and I chose to pay those outright along with the 3k lease requirement. This was a real deal and the best by a grand of anything else I could find. I didn't have to negotiate much at all once I said over the phone, " Give me the absolute bottom line price to move that murano off your lot today". He came back with the 29266 and it never changed one dollar, even when I switched from buy to lease. I'm over 60 and bought alot of cars and this was one of the best buying experiences I've had. I was respectful and friendly but when dealing I was confident and unemotional because I knew I could handle the finances and could easily walk away. I didn't have to act --- I popped a xanax ---- sweeeeet!!!
Re: Studebaker Avanti [andys120]

The overhang is the long-hood short-deck theory, which Studebaker pretty much pioneered with their Hawk series in '56 and everyone else started doing around the '65 model year. Look at a '64 Pontiac anything...it has a short-hood and long deck! There is a story behind the upright windshield. I heard Otis Romine, a Studebaker truck engineer who pitched in on the Avanti, say at a seminar about 15 years ago, that Studebaker's president, Sherwood Egbert, a 40-something 6'4" ex-Marine, kept knocking his head on the Avanti seating buck every time he came into the engineering studio and insisted on increased headroom...hence the upright windshield. Citibank, or was it Goldman ? escapes me at the moment downgraded GM today to a sell.It was only at 13 but closed down to a new low at 11 1/2. Poor Ford is trading at 5. Reminds me of the Chrysler days. People thought at the time the government was floating them a loan because we couldn't let the third largest automaker go down the tubes. They managed to push it through congress under the guise of national security, they had a division that made assemblies used in tanks. Good management seems to be sadly lacking these days. Bonus trivia to thwart team evil. Level = easy In sitting on a dock of the bay by otis, where did the singer state his home was ? No googling por favor.

Ancient? No we're decrepid. Mr Pitiful was Otis though I prefer Try a Little Tenderness.Otis knew how to build a song with tempo.
