I found it!
by oregonboy on Sat Nov 15 11:17:14 PST 2008
I found it! :) Driving south on I-5 between Eugene and Roseburg Oregon... nightime, moderate-to-light traffic... two lanes (each direction)... 65 mph posted limit, most traffic traveling 70-75. I overtake a group of cars: 4 in the right lane with moderate spacing between, and an orange and white VW microbus in the left lane. The VW is passing the rear-most of the group at a glacial rate. I wait behind in the left lane. Traffic starts to pile up behind me. Eventually, the VW clears the first of the cars in the right-hand group. There is plenty of room to pull over to let traffic by, but it continues, apparently intent on passing the entire group. At this rate it could take hundreds of miles. I give two quick bursts of high-beams... no response. I put on my left blinker an drift two feet to the left, so that the blinker is clearly flashing in the VW's driver's side mirror. A minute later... the VW solders on. I don't think he's gaining on the other cars at all. In fact, he's lost ground and it looks ok to pass on the right... as long as he doesn't speed up to pin me in. I decide to give it a shot, so I signal a right lane change, move over and pass deliberately (as opposed to "with extreme prejudice"). The VW doesn't appear to have changed speed. I signal and move left. I pass the second car of the 4-car group in the right lane and as I approach the third vehicle, a newish white Ford pickup, I notice a decal on the driver's door: "Oregon State Police". I check my speed... under 74 (should be ok). I slide on by, watching in my mirror for a reaction. The OSP pickup signals and pulls into the left lane behind me. to be continued...

No offense, but to me those are like minor annoyances. Like I said it happens everyday across the globe and they dont worry as much. Before you start thinking I understand none of terrorism I too lost a relative in the 9/11, bless him. Hope I dont offend anyone by saying that. Back on cars, my worst experience with the "enviro-pals" was when I drove past Eugene OR, where I was suddenly stopped by people (some in Priuses), only to hear the following lectures: " Do you know how many trees must die for the wood trim in your car? Do you know how much oil we must burn to propel that sedan of yours? Do you know how many cattles must die for your seats? If you do please stop driving it, buy a hybrid and save the planet" I said " One, the wood in the TSX is damn fake. Two, this car has 4-cyl and gets 30mpg. And three, the seats are vynil. So please get off the way so I can drive" "Oh and btw do you happen to be on any carmaker's payroll???" As I drove past them they started shouting boos at me, and every Prius and Escape hybrid drivers in town gave me the finger. Maybe its my words, maybe not, who knows.
Quote for 08 KC SE 4x4 V6 auto w/ VTP

Lithia Nissan of Medford Oregon (Lithia is a pretty large network of dealers). Quote for 08 KC SE 4x4 V6 auto with VTP: $18,709 According to Edmunds: MSRP + destination charge: $25,260 invoice + destination charge: $23,691 Another bit of info: A different dealer rejected my offer that included a $5,000 reduction for a "Nissan-to-dealer incentive for 2008 truck quota" and said "we aren't going to meet the quota." It looks like there may indeed be a $5,000 incentive that some dealers may receive. Happy shopping! -- Paul

After I bought my rig (see above), I helped a buddy buy the same rig (even the same color) except it also has the Tow Package. With the additional info I had from my deal, he was able to get a deal that was about $500 better than mine. Needless to say, I'm gonna expect him to buy me a good dinner! My friend got some additional infor from the dealer and it looks like dealers' actual "net zero" cost is almost $10K off MSRP on the V6's. (Figured as: $2,500 (rebate) + $5,000 (quota incentive) + $500-700 (holdback) + (difference between MSRP and invoice). So, it should be possible to get a deal around $9K off MSRP.
