2008 Prius Lease - Fair?
by 08prius on Thu Dec 13 18:34:44 PST 2007
Hi, I'm looking to lease a 2008 Prius Pkg 2 in SoCal. They offered $356 (+tax)/month for 36 months. 12K a year mileage and $640 drive-off. Is this fair? If not, how do I negotiate a better deal? I asked about a monthly payment of $336 (+tax) and sales person said -"not possible" I'm going in tomorrow as I've only dealt with this sales person via email/phone. I haven't told the salesperson i have a car I want to trade-in (worth about $500 trade-in). Do I try to use this as part of the drive-off or is there anyway I can use this to lower monthly payment. I'm not sure if this is a good deal or it just sounds good to me given I went to Miller Toyota in Culver City and they wanted $2000 down and $369/month for a 59 month lease (they were CRAZY)! Thanks!
Purchasing a 08 Honda Accord Coupe EX-L V6 AT w/ Navi

So my lease on my Acura was up, and after such a positive experience with the vehicle, I decided to stay within Honda. I hired a broker (who charges nothing) and also did some shopping on my own. I kept most of my contacting through email and phone and here are my results. Buena Park Honda $27,900.00 Hollywood Honda $28,341.00 Honda of Pasadena $28,598.00 Long Beach Honda $28,906.00 Goudy Honda $28,998.00 Colonial Honda $28,998.00 Honda of Santa Monica $29,700.00 CS Auto Broker (My Broker) $30,042.00 Airport Marina Honda $30,645.00 Culver City Miller Honda $30,676.00 Norm Reeves Superstore $31,180.00 Miller Honda Van Nuys $32,145.00 These were the final prices I got after haggling and going back and forth between various dealers. I wanted silver and trying to locate the car was hard. Out of these dealers, only 3 had one in stock. Buena Park, who was asking for 27,900 had only a black one. I called Pasadena Honda (Eddy Lin) with a written quote from Buena Park, and he threw in the wheel locks and lowered their price before TTL to $28,236.00. Out the door after TTL, it was a little under $31,000. After qualifying for 3.9% APR, I chose to pay off the car in 48 months with $5000.00 down. My monthly payments came out to roughly $580.
Re: Scared by Outlander problems [thomasw98]

I have the Nav on my 07 Outlander XLS and I like it. It announces freeway names but not individual street names. So it announces "Exit south on I-5 in 0.5 miles." If your route has an upcoming turn, the street name is highlighted in a large green box with information on how far away it is... "Turn left on Culver in 1.2 miles" etc. For me it is very easy to see and use. The paint thing is not a universal problem. My paint looks great after more than a year of driving, including a trip to the snow last winter. But any car can be damaged in harsh conditions, get behind a rock truck for just a few seconds and everything gets wiped out, including the windshield. If I lived in areas with salt and rocks then I would install mud flaps. If your'e in SoCal I'd be happy to show you my Outlander and all of its cool functions.
Re: VW Passat Turbo Cool Down and Warm Up Needed? [shipo]
by awaretek on Wed Dec 12 07:28:37 PST 2007
I think the Passat 2.0T will really shine on the highway (expressway). However, on a day to day basis, most of my driving will be in town. I will be living in Culver City, right in the middle of the LA area, near LAX , Santa Monica etc. Thus, I will do lot of stop and go driving. And, on the freeways in LA area, one can sit in "parking lots" for long times. Which raises a questioN: is there anything to worry about with the 2.0T engine in such deriving? Is A Turbo more susceptible to over heating when sitting in stalled traffic for long periods of time? I really would like to know. As you can probably tell, I really wan to buy the Passat. But it never occurred to me until I read this forum that a turbo (which I have neveu round) was quite different and requires different handling. Is a turbo especially susceptible to over heating stalled traffic, city driving stop and go etc? Ron Ron

The dealership in Culver City had some. It seems like there are quite a few left. Check around in the Southern California area...
