Re: Let's inject... [grbeck]

But if the government really wants to save GM, it should turn it over to a foreign company - preferably Toyota - and give said company carte blanche to make the changes necessary to right the ship. Would that need a chapter 11? Have to imagine that the corporate culture of a Toyota, Honda or Nissan is very different from GM. The GM workforce, without a union, and first level supervision maybe could be trained into that culture. Top and middle management would have to be replaced similar to a new U.S. President's administration such as what Obama and Emanuel are now doing. Obama is bringing in his people, but of course retaining apolitical career government employees and grunts. Is there any way that elements of top/middle management at Toyota, Honda and Nissan could be induced to join a Phoenix GM? What a challenge. This would be like a head coach of a Super Bowl Team leaving it and taking over the worst team in the NFL with aspiration to build it into a Super Bowl contender.
Transmission coolant leak
by larsb on Tue Nov 18 07:53:33 PST 2008
I just had a tranny coolant leak in my 2007 TCH with 37,800 miles on it. Was getting warning messages: Check Hybrid System and Check VSC System on the dash display. Dealer in Mesa AZ says it's the first one they've seen, so the repair may take a couple of days. Covered under the powertrain warranty, so it won't cost me a penny. I'll let people know how it turns out.
Suggestions of dealers in Phoenix-Yuma, Arizona
by 2newshoes on Tue Nov 18 07:27:21 PST 2008
Dear Friends, Within a couple of weeks I want to buy a Fit in Phoenix or Yuma, Arizona. Can anyone recommend a decent dealer in either of these areas or other suggestions? (Or warnings about dealers I should stay away from?) Thanks all, 2NS

Hating a car I would other wise love! Most horrible noise!
by deth on Tue Nov 18 04:56:26 PST 2008
I was in total lust with my car when I got it, until the break sqeak started!! 2008 HHR w/under 4000 miles on it. When I slow to stop, rather than "hard stop" my brakes squeak so bad that I cringe. It's embarassing and ear peircing. I've taken it in and was told it's the ceramic brake pad surface becoming slick because of how I slow to stop. Well I live in downtown Phoenix, AZ and drive mostly city streets. There's alot of slowing to stop. They suggested that when I'm in a parking lot, do a bunch of hard stopping to roughen up the pad. This hasn't worked. I'm so annoyed. I've called and emailed GM. This is supposed to be a "lifetime" brake pad according the the service guys. Frankly I'd rather pay money for new pads every few years to not be constantly embarrassed and sounding like my brakes need replacing.
Real time MPG
by dlake1 on Mon Nov 17 23:28:45 PST 2008
I am thinking about buying a 2006 - 2008 TL. My wife's Lexus 350ES has real time mpg readout in instrument cluster. I test drove a 2008 TL yesterday, and could only seem to get AVG mpg. Does TL have real time mpg readout? Even my old Eddie Bauer ford explorer had it. Surely TL would? I like the burled walnut interior better in the 2006. The trim in the 2008 is... well not as appealing to me. But it's hard to find a 2006 with navi in Phoenix.
