Re: Aftermarket Stereo/Speakers [masantafe]

I would probably recommend against Circuit City since they just filed for bankruptcy, although that may not mean anything. Best Buy overall has a good reputation as far as big box stores go - their installers can be as good as anybody. Krank It Up in Medford seems to have a good reputation, though I have no personal experience with them (I'm in Colorado). Do yourself a favor - Google "car stereo" and "Boston" and see who looks like a good bet.
Quote for 08 KC SE 4x4 V6 auto w/ VTP

Lithia Nissan of Medford Oregon (Lithia is a pretty large network of dealers). Quote for 08 KC SE 4x4 V6 auto with VTP: $18,709 According to Edmunds: MSRP + destination charge: $25,260 invoice + destination charge: $23,691 Another bit of info: A different dealer rejected my offer that included a $5,000 reduction for a "Nissan-to-dealer incentive for 2008 truck quota" and said "we aren't going to meet the quota." It looks like there may indeed be a $5,000 incentive that some dealers may receive. Happy shopping! -- Paul

2008 KC SE 4x4 V6 auto with VTP for $17,221 OTD.
by picante on Wed Aug 20 16:40:54 PDT 2008
Just purchased 2008 KC SE 4x4 V6 auto (red) with VTP for $17,221 OTD. From: Lithia Nissan of Medford Oregon. According to Edmunds: MSRP + destination charge: $25,260 invoice + destination charge: $23,691 (Seeing, moparbad's last post, I may have left some money on the table. But I'm still pleased to have gotten this rig for the price.) For those who might be interested, I used an e-mail variation of the standard "Fax" offer approach (see below). Note that I committed to the deposit upon acceptance of the offer and indicated in my cover e-mail that this offer would be presented to another dealer if not accepted by the expiration time. I got an e-mail back with a PDF of a dealership sales agreement to sign, and a follow-up phone call to verify that it was OK to charge the credit card. So far, the process has been completely painless. -- Paul Here's how I presented the offer in a PDF attachment via e-mail: *** THIS OFFER EXPIRES AT 5:00 P.M., AUGUST 20, 2008. *** PURCHASE OFFER August 20, 2008 This is an offer to purchase a new, 2008 Nissan Frontier SE for the CASH DELIVERED PRICE (including all charges and fees except the Oregon license fee) of $17,221. ======== 2008 Nissan Frontier SE, Extended Cab V6 4x4 automatic (Red) Stock #: XXXX, VIN: XXXX -- $21,729 F01 SE Value Truck Package -- 1,182 Destination charge -- 780 Total invoice: -- 23,691 Reductions Factory customer rebate -- ($2,500) Nissan-to-dealer incentive; 2008 truck quota -- (5,000) Dealer holdback -- (470) Total reductions -- ($7,970) Net -- 15,721 Direct profit -- 1,500 CASH DELIVERED PRICE -- $17,221 I’m prepared to take delivery immediately. To accept this offer, please reply by e-mail to xxxxx@xxxxx.com no later than 5:00 P.M., AUGUST 20, 2008. This offer is void after that time. Re: 2 weeks with a Euro 2.4D [volvomax]

The V70 is the ideal platform for a diesel. It's laid back touring performance would be perfectly complemented by a small, torquey, economical powerplant. I'm 3 days into our 2-week family vacation from Seattle to San Diego. So far I'm averaging 30 MPG with a fully loaded (people & cargo) V70 2.4. I get more economy on the interstate but passing slow traffic in the Siskyous, a detour to the Oregon Caves, and San Francisco city traffic has brought my mileage down a few MPG. I stopped at a Volvo dealer in Medford for an oil/filter change and service was terrific. They knew I'm from out of town and will likely never return, yet they bent over backwards to fit me in and get me back on the road with little delay. I checked out the new V70 while I was there and, though it's very nice, it has nothing to offer that would tempt me to trade in my '04.

All I can tell you is to avoid Medford Toyota. They like to charge for things they didn't do.
