New CX-9 Owner
by jb03 on Thu Dec 13 12:27:19 PST 2007
It's been quite awhile since I last posted in the forums. I recently traded the wife's 2000 MPV for a new 2008 CX-9 GT FWD. I am very impressed thus far with the refinement of the CX-9 including the ride, power, and interior ammenities. Info on purchase is as follows: 2008 CX-9 GT FWD Stormy Blue Mica w/Sand Leather Int RSES BSMS Wheel Locks MSRP: $36,816 Price: $34,441 (about $500 over invoice) OTD (TTL): $37,420 (incl tax @ 7.75%, title and registration, and $25 doc fee) Purchase was made at John Hine in San Diego. $500 over invoice was quoted via internet by several other dealers in the area as well. Not as good as some are getting ($500 below invoice in the SF area seems to set the bar for best deal yet), but the vehicle was equipped exactly as I wanted. I'm satisfied with my purchase overall. The dealer experience was fairly painless except for the haggle over my trade. Regards, JB

cont'd from previous post... Does this mean that after I give my cheque to the dealer that the deal “is subject to change”. This process needs to change. Once a car is on the list it should stay on the list, or people that purchased based on this error should be given an exemption. o Last week many people were granted and issued letters of amnesty. They were told that if they purchased their vehicles prior to November 1st, that it would be ok to proceed. These letters were given only to SUV, Van and Truck buyers, passenger vehicles (or the more popular – lower cost saving cars were not to be granted amnesty). This is very upsetting for those poor folks with these vehicles sitting idle in their driveways. It is a good example of the “flip-flopping” going on in Transport Canada today. As well, the working couple, with three kids in daycare, struggling to make ends meet is not allowed to purchase an economical, environmentally friendly passenger car. They could save 5 or 6 thousand dollars. This is just not fair! o I am personally aware of individuals that purchased the same model as I, more than a week after my purchase, and they were fully approved and are now driving in the streets of Quebec with their Quebec plates. They have a manufactured date that is after the September 1st immobilizer law was implemented. • I could go on listing many other reasons. The list of injustices is quite long. Right now many people in similar situations are working with me. We will be contacting other people and we will grow this network significantly and continue to protest the manner in which this Conservative Led Government is treating its citizens…. o If I go to Wal-Mart and buy socks for $1.99, and then I find the same socks at Sears for .99, Wal-Mart will refund the difference. In Quebec if I am charged $5.00 for an item that should be $3.00 I an entitled to the item for free. That is the law. Competition and accountability for mistakes. This is the issue. • My friends and I were allowed to bring in an “illegal car” into the country and they are sitting idle in our driveways. Management at Transport Canada and the Automakers treat us like the plague. They are frustrating our families and are making our lives miserable. There is something extremely wrong here!!!. • PLEASE CORRECT THIS INJUSTICE TODAY!!!!!! Nescosmo, We also have a barometric pressure sensor built into the ECU. This compensates altitude changes. Has anyone noticed how "linear" this engine pulls while going up to 10,000 feet? Help on leasing 2007 Mazda 3 s Grand Touring wagon
by proe on Sat Jul 21 13:10:53 PDT 2007
Hi, Guys, I will be leasing my first car to fill the gap until 2010. John Hine at San Diego has Mazda 3 s Grand Touring wagon AT with MCR compass and autodimming mirror and JCP pearl paint in their inventory. The MSRP is $21,840 form Edmunds, and I think that is close to the MSRP form the John Hine (I cannot get to the web page somehow, it must be my 1997 pc is too old for it :-) ). If I can get the selling price down to $20,911 or around that figure (since that is what people at my zip code paid per Edmunds) and I am looking for 3 year lease with 15,000 mile/per year on mileage with excellent credit score (I am debt free), what kind of lease plan would you recommend? By the way, is there a better Mazda 3 wagon to lease besides the one that I am looking for? Since the car is only to fill the gap until 2010, I may need to check my ego to get the payment down as much as possible ;) Also, what are other things about lease that I need to know before I start to negotiate with dealership besides those mentioned in the Edmunds? Thank you so very much,
Walmart

You know, it's funny how everyone bitches about Walmart. I won't as much, because my girlfriend of 4 years is an assistant manager of one in the Dayton area. They pay her very well as a salary worker, and really well for someone fresh out of college, but I never let it slip my mind that they have been extremely wrong in the past, and have lost law suits to prove it. But they do some things very well, and they do learn from mistakes. If you work there, you don't dare do something off the clock that's considered work, because they lost a court case about making employees work off the clock. They don't tolerate any kind of sexual harassment at all, because they've had to go to court and spend millions in cases. But they are also an excellent and juicy target. They're seen as predatory, driving out small town business. I won't deny that, but I can also tell you that many many other stores do this as well. Examples: CVS Pharmacy used to be Revco Pharmacy here, and Revco drove out a local brand of stores called Hooks. Revco was then bought by CVS. Now we only have CVS. We used to have a great small chain of hardware stores here too called Hines Hardware. Family owned, extremely helpful. But Ace Hardware popped up a mile or so down the road. The local Hines closed. Then an Ace popped up 2 miles down the road from another Hines. And so on and so on. Buffalo Wild Wings ran out some small bars and eateries here. None of them are nearly as tempting a target though as Walmart, but they've done equal or more damage to the number of alternatives here. As far as the product goes, all their shirts are made elsewhere, but when I bought some shirts at Kohls the other day, they were all made in Guatemala or Pakistan (a country known to be harboring Bin Laden within their borders). As a nation, we're extremely capable of turning a blind eye to anything inconvient, but then inexplicably torture others. Point... it's easy to jump on the bandwagon. Especially when it's about GM or Walmart.
