Re: Precision Grey [traindriver]

Thank you for your comment, I also hate grey tone cars for the same reason as yours, especially silver (no life to that color at all especially boring when bought with black seats). For some reason when I was on the dealer lot the day I got my car, Precision Grey looked especially nice, it had depth and gloss, and continues to catch my eye especially when just washed and waxed. I am more of a gold tone customer but they did away with sunlit sand, coral sand, pebble beach, and spirited bronze so precision grey it is. In checking inventory in 5 dealerships near my zip code, I found that the 24 cars available were available only in some shade of black/grey (from white, silver, precision grey, slate, and black, they are all some shade of black in my opinion). To add insult to injury all the cars had charcoal (black in my book) interiors, it was like going to a funeral home and picking out a coffin, just not good. The blue is a carry over from last year. Tuscan Sun is a new better looking, deeper, and darker version of last years Sonoma Sunset. The the new green color is called Mystic Jade. So in reality only 3 colors are non-shade-of-black, not much variety in a flagship vehicle. The interesting thing about precision grey is that most often it looks like a darker color than it is especially in the shade, very nice.

Asking prices are the manifestation of an American's First Amendment Rights. :P I guess if someone gold-plated a 122S wagon and Elvis died in it and it was the first Volvo to hit the beaches at Normandy, it might be worth $12,500, but otherwise, that's a mighty stretch. Overdrive IS worth something, maybe $1,500 or so. The most slicked-up 122S would have a totally restored body and interior and undercarriage of course, a B20 fuel injected engine with hot-rod parts from IPD for engine and suspension, fancy wheels, vintage AC installed, etc. etc. In that config, I suppose a real Volvo nut might pay.....oh.....$8,000 for one?? Hard to say what a one-time sale on a full-bore custom is worth.
If you believe the GW hysteria SELL, SELL, SELL

It looks like Donald Trump is a believer in GW. Get out while the getting is good... Wednesday, July 16, 2008 PALM BEACH — The Donald's deal is done. Real estate mogul Donald Trump on Tuesday closed the sale of a Palm Beach mansion to a Russian billionaire for the blockbuster price of $95 million. "I love breaking records," Trump said Wednesday, "and this is a record." It's believed to be the most expensive house ever sold in the United States. "At the same time, I believe the buyer made an absolutely fantastic deal, and time will prove this right," Trump said. The house, located at 515 N. County Road, was sold to an entity known as County Road Property LLC. Russian fertilizer billionaire Dmitry Rybolovlev last month acknowledged he is the buyer of the Trump property. Trump called the deal a $100 million sale, but the deed lists the price as $95 million, said Robert Brody, a West Palm Beach lawyer representing the buyer. Sources say Trump paid all closing costs and brokerage commissions, including $665,000 in documentary stamps. Brody declined to discuss closing costs payments. Trump's Palm Beach attorney, Paul Rampell, declined to comment. The sale marks a triumphant end to a bid by Trump to turn a troubled but prime piece of Palm Beach land into gold. Trump scooped up the home, the former Abe Gosman estate, for $41.35 million in 2004 as part of the health-care magnate's bankruptcy filing. Although Trump performed a renovation of the property, the 6-acre property's real appeal is its 475 feet of unobstructed oceanfront. The final price ended up lower than Trump's initial asking price of $125 million, and a hair under initial reports of a $100 million contract sales price. The house's final sales price was adjusted downward from $100 million during last-minute negotiations, sources said. But the deal still is a victory for Trump and for the Palm Beach mansion market, which continues to prove resilient despite the crisis striking the real estate market throughout the country. Trump can gloat when the Russian Billionaire is under water....
misheard lyrics anyone?

My local Top 40 station has Sting in the rotation lately and I finally got around to looking up the lyrics to the song (Fields Of Gold) they've been playing. Had trouble finding "on the fields of Bali lyrics" with my search engine. I guess Bali has more beaches than fields.... "You'll remember me when the west wind moves Upon the fields of barley You'll forget the sun in his jealous sky As we walk in the fields of gold"

VITRO: If your product has only a "15-20 year viable lifespan" ....let's be sensible here....GM, Ford or Chrysler,. Toyota or whomever would JUMP at the opportunity to use your product with the mileage increase claims you make...They would give you MILLIONS for a product like yours (IF IT WORKED!!!)... Why don't you contact Consumers Report and let them "road test" your product??????? I simply cannot believe that if you are sitting on a gold mine that you haven't offered it to GM, FORD or again, whomever!!!! And please...don't tell me they wouldn't purchase it!!!!!

I have just traded my pathfinder for a Rogue (Black SL/2wd). I love the Rogue. Drives and runs and rides great. The engine is silkey smooth and I like the CVT tranny. It has plenty of power for my driving style. I am leaving on a 5000 mile trip out west in March. I plan on doing some gold prospecting and light off roading. I'll post a report when I return.
