Re: Engine/electronic problem [winter2]

Thanks. I was wondering because the place I've been getting fuel is in Garrett County, MD and I work in Frostburg, MD, just across the Garrett-Allegany Co. line. If you've driven across I-68 and know the hills on it, they'll put the test to the CRD. I'll have to re-think my using the Mobil Delvac 1 and maybe see about the other oils.
Re: Battery failure after three weeks vacation [whiteya]

Yvonne: The only time we had this problem was in February. Since then we have not left the wehicle without starting probably for not more than five days.So far no problem. We also have rattle sound from passenger side door and took to the dealer for the fix.He could not fix this problem even after consulting with Honda Co. Honda stated that they are looking into this but vaguely stated this noise is normally expected on rough patches. We responded that this explanation is not acceptable. By the way our Honda Odyssey is fully loaded with DVD player, sunroof etc.We also purchased lifetime rust protection warranty which we later understood the dealer sold. This protection is not provided by Honda but by some other company. This protection requires a circuit which continuously consumes some battery power. The guy who came to jump start our Honda in February told us that this rust protection circuit is the problem. Do you have any circuit for rust protection? Honda states that with modern high technology there are always some parasitic power losses and therefore advise the owners to keep the battery fully charged. The dealer stated that we disconnect the battery negative terminal everytime we go on an extended vacation. We are likely to go on vacation for three weeks and will see if we get the same battery problem. The dealer though states we should remove the battery negative terminal if we go on three weeks vacation but is not willing to put this in writing. He is only willing to state in writing that negative terminal should be removed for extended period of vehicle storage. Regards, Baljit

Re: humming noise - brand new 2006 Honda Odyssey [stn5900]

I drove my Honda 2006 Odyssey on a highway for about two hours. Initially as we got on the highway I heard the humming noise for about 20 minutes at speed of 65-70mph.The noise disappeared after 20 minutes and did not come back for rest of the journey. I did not hear this again during my return journey. I think this noise is characteristic of the wind direction. Regards Baljit Puri
Re: Rattling in the back with right rear wheel over bumps [yeppo]
by baljitpuri on Sat Mar 25 06:16:00 PST 2006
I took my Honda Odyssey 2006 to the dealer to check why I lost power after three weeks vacation. He also checked the rattle from the passenger right side sliding door. He tried to fix the problem. I drove 200 miles and initially I did not hear the rattle. When I got off the interstate highway and drove over a rough patch I did hear this rattle. So it looks this is an inherent defect in practically all Honda Odysseys. Have you experienced problem with power loss after two to three weeks vacation? I also purchased anti rust life time warranty for which the dealer problem special circuit.May be this is the problem. Thanks, Baljit
Battery Power Failure after 3 weeks vacation
by baljitpuri on Sun Mar 12 08:15:16 PST 2006
I had posted my problem with the battery losing power after my 2006 Odyssey was sitting in garage for three weeks. The dealer said it is due to power drawn by high tech.electronics and suggested I remove the negative terminal whenever I go on vacation. This is not a practical solution.I had my vehicle for 24 hours at the dealer and he could not find anything wrong and reiterated that I remove the negative terminal. Moreover, I cannot find my original message on Edmund Forum. Where is this gone? Thanks, Baljit S. Puri
