" The British sense of humor is unequalled. Thanks J.I'd like to see these in the states as well rather than the trendy but impractical fuel cell, Perhaps a little under $46,000 though. Ok , quite abit under. The dollar exchange rate is killing us, probably why they stuck to Europe.

Honda Diesel Accord @ 51 mpg is coming
by hebrewhammer on Mon Jul 28 22:58:49 PDT 2008
It's on its way to the United States. Honda reliability with 51 mpg diesel engine - oh, and it's rumored to be a mere $850 more than the gasoline Accord. Competition is gooooood. :shades: http://www.mirror.co.uk/advice/motoring/hammond/2008/07/18/honda-accord-controll- - ing-a-jumbo-jet-would-be-easier-89520-20652973/ Also, they plan on selling as many as people will buy, and with Honda's legendary production capabilities, that should mean NO supply issues. :D
MY 2 cents.

A lot of the FLAK here seems to be concerned more with the 55 number than with the concept of a national speed limit. First, I think 55 is too low. But I think 75 is too high. Somewhere between 60 to 70 is limit of most cars ability to push air out of the way without increasing fuel consumption exponentially. I would be in favor of a national 65 MPH speed limit. Second, there is FLAK from people who point out the absurdity of rural interstate speeds at low speeds. This clearly shows how badly the US needs mass transit. In a recent episode of Top Gear, they went to Japan and Clarkson in a Nissan GT-R raced Mays and Hammond using public transit including the bullet train accross Japan. To make it competitive, Mays and Hammond had to travel twice the distance and may 4 different train switches. Clarkson won by about a minute. There definately needs to be regional rail in the US and better mass transit. Third, This I think should be done yesterday, a national law should be passed required every heavy truck to have an electronic speed limiter of 68 mph. High speed trucks are an absolute menace to the rest of us. Last week I was directly behind a tractor trailer doing over 70 mph when he had a blow out. I thought I was going to take the tire right through the windshield but some fluke of aerodynamics caused it to go right around me. Forth, Unless you are doing a trip of over a 100 miles, the time saved by going 75 instead of 65 is barely measurable. In fact in my 50 mile commute of mixed interstate and semi-divided with lights I constantly see someone I blew by on the interstate catch up with me because I get stuck at lights. Mark
