fluid changing
by agill on Sun Nov 16 14:01:13 PST 2008
Your owners manual should recommend all the millage's you need to swap out fluids. Just remember off-road usage shortens the life of all your fluids and should be replaced more often. The differential also have breather tube that if come disconnected can allow water and dirt to get into diff housing. If you are fording waterway or submerging deep water or even blasting through little mud puddles all of this increases the possibility of water entering into places you do not want. I personally change my engine oil every 2500-3000 miles. I live in a very dry and sandy area.
Re: Floor Mats again [poocat]

Update on performance of Weathertech Floor LINERS: I went to FL the last 3 weeks. Spend a lot of time in the car as we drover theire and several visits to the sandy beach. So update on the sand test gets an "A". Each time I went to the beach I was able to pull the mats out and just dump out any collected sand then light dust off with 2 paper towels. This allowed me to eliminate any sand, and I noticed when I pulled the liners the sand stayed collected in the liners, as opposed to blowing off into the carpet. I recreated the Chicago snow test since I did not monitor what actually took place when we had snow. I just know we did not get snow on the carpet so I assume the mats collected the water and evaporated. To recreate the test I took 3 cups of water and dumped it onto the drivers side mat only. All the water stayed in the liner, then to my surprise the water did trickle out of the car in almost a magical way. The liners do in fact have a channel that directs the water out of the liner and over the plastic edge at door entry point. It appeared magical because it almost looked like the water was climbing uphill. I did see the clean water I put channel over the plastic honda edge, but I will say it used maybe a 1 inch width to channel water out and it did not back into the carpet. I decided to close the door after 1 cup flowed out and noticed it still channeled out of the car. I did notice approx 1 cup stayed in, which I suspect is a volumen that is managiable where gravity will take over. I did not want my wife to freak on this so I pulled the mat out to dump out the 1 cup and kind of clean it up. I noticed no water under the mat so the test kept all water in the tray as designed. In short very very satisfied with the LINER concept.

Sandy, Turn the knob all the way red, turn the fan on full, and kick the rpm up a few times. That should warm your car real quick. A.
Re: 2008 SR5 V6 2WD with EVP1 (SR5 value package) in Atlanta [harshveda]
by dumeelp on Sat Nov 01 06:32:26 PDT 2008
The dealer is Sandy Springs Toyota. Email me at dumeel.pandian@yahoo.com and I will provide the contact sales person name and number. He was very helpful in the whole process. As I said in the previous posting, it is a 2008 4Runner Sr5 V6 2WD with Sr5 Value package ( that has upgraded wheels, steering wheel control, moonroof, etc). It is kind of the basic set of options... Re: awd comparison between rav4 and crv [saramaddie]
by kurtamaxxxguy on Thu Oct 30 06:52:08 PDT 2008
Subaru did a comparison of AWD in 2006 and 2007, and the CRV's system, which has not changed much since then, was very weak at handling bad traction situations. When Toyota tested their RAV4 in Australia in 2006, the RAV4, asked to climb a sandy hill, simply parked itself. However, you can control Toyota differential locking and get 4WD up to around 25 mph, at which point it disengages and goes back to its mostly FWD-biased system. Audi , Land Rover, and VW use a Haldex system that is mostly FWD unless slippage is detected, at which point power goes to rear wheels. LR also has AWD presets to change the responsiveness and distribution of power. You can see more examples on Youtube. However, no AWD system will work if all your tires are on glare ice or otherwise no traction surfaces. There are Youtube videos showing Subaru Outbacks merrily sliding along Portland OR roads and crashing into other cars.
Re: Genesis Comments [marvinlee1]

Hey Marvin, try Lithia Hyundai in Renton Washington. They are approx 167 miles from you and show to have a white on black premium plus package 3.8 V6. And sandy, to answer your question, yes the shipments from Hyundai have slowed somewhat. The first allocation that I have seen with Genesi on it came out late last week. That means that dealers are operating on the initial orders that they placed back in April and May. If your dealers didn't order very many, or if the Genesis has been a good seller in your area, then things will continue to be a bit thin for another couple of weeks.
