Re: purchase agreement [wilzap]

I am pleased to say that yesterday I visited my Mazda dealer and came away with a signed purchase agreement. I was also able to test drive a manual NC for the first time. My original test drive was in an automatic because that's all they had on the lot at the time. After the manual test drive and with the re-assuring purchase agreement tucked safely away, I'm as stoked as I've ever been for this car. All my life I've been a big fan of classic roadsters and as a kid I dreamed of owning an MG or Triumph. Practicality and budget has ruled when buying cars up till now so this will be my first drop top. Being from the extremely wet north Oregon coast, a soft top was never an option but when I found the PRHT the whole idea became viable. The fact that the MX-5 NC styling presses my roadster buttons like no other car (I think the NC's styling is near perfect, the Solstice is cool but tries too hard in my opinion)and that it is so highly rated for dependability and consumer satisfaction leaves me with zero reservations about buying it. This is by far the most exciting car I've ever bought.:D Well, two months down and approximately two months to go.......

Hmm. Well now maybe I should just cross my fingers and be thankful if I get the car at all. All this distrust and stress kind of detracts from my daily fantasizing about owning this car. Oh well, might as well keep the faith. :) Thanks for the comments.

Thanks for the reply Wilzap. I'm not really worried about eventually getting the car as I am about the dealer sticking to the price we agreed on once it comes in. Right now all I have is a verbal agreement. I've been trying for almost two months to get the cars specs and the agreed upon price down in a legally binding contract. They know this is the exact car I want and after waiting five months they'll have me right where they want me. I'm really curious as to what the standard procedure is regarding purchase agreements when a deposit is made and a car is ordered. Am I being paranoid or does it sound like I have good reason to be concerned? Thanks again!
purchase agreement
by ufomx5 on Sun Oct 21 01:04:01 PDT 2007
Greetings from Oregon. It looks like I've found the right place because I am in my seventh week of waiting for my '08 sport PRHT in stormy blue mica. My build date is second week of November and my ETA is December to January. I have one question (for now) for all of you who ordered MX-5s. What type of documentation did you get from the dealer when you made your deposit? After negotiating the price with my dealer I placed a deposit, but once I got home I realized that the paperwork I was sent home with was not a legally binding contract with the dealer as to the price we agreed upon. The very next day I requested a purchase agreement and it's been like pulling teeth trying to get one from them ever since. I'm losing patience as I feel like the dealer is deliberately trying to keep me in a legally vulnerable position. Am I over-reacting, or am I getting set up for a screwing once the car arrives? Thanks in advance.

"OnStar" Safe & Sound is standard equipment on the 2005 PHAETON, and includes 30 Free minutes of Hands Free phone service...additional minutes are available thru "OnStar" for various rate pkgs. No special phone is required...everything is built in. Your Blackberry should have a hands free, Bluetooth kit available thru your T-Mobile dealer...I know Cingular has one for my Motorola Razr... Best mats available are from a Brit firm called Cannon...Brand name here is WeatherTech and available at link title Being from the NY/NJ area I understand your situation...For Spring thru Autumn I reco link title They make a great product and created the template for the PHAETON for my 2004...A great throw back look that is nothing but class...I can email you pix of the mats if you like...
