Toyota policy gets more and more frustrating
by daleyplanit on Wed Nov 12 08:43:54 PST 2008
Septebmer 22 - Lia Toyota, Colonie, NY " Your truck is not safe to drive. You can't keep your truck here uness you pay $35 per day. You have to drive it home or pay to have it towed. You get no loaner. Call 1-800-Go-Toyota." Toyota corporate offers me $1000 less than KBB value to buy my truck back. I can't get enymore from them. I ask toyota for money to tow it back to the dealer if i need to for the buyback - they decline my request. October 22; Toyota Care Customer support techs Autumn Branch and Joey Lopez "So long as we can load it on a truck, we can tow it from your house." I ask for this in writing, they decline my request. I 'unregister the truck, take the plates off and take the insurance off. November 12- Toyota ISG rep calls about my check "You must have the truck at the dealership to collect payment. We do not provide towing and will not come to your house." Now I have to pay to tow it back to the dealership. This is outrageous. Excuse me but this is complete bull$hit. If Toyota would but things in writing, or give me the same story twice in a row this would not happen. I am so angry right now I could explode.

Chkman and theiglu You both mentioned cases of getting a loaner for 2001 model year failures. Is this up to the dealership to decide? I don't understand why I was declined the option. My dealership (Lia Toyota in Colonie NY) refused my requests I'll call out the Toyota care representatives I've spoken to - Joey Lopez and Autumn Branch - both told me that there was no way I could get a loaner or be reimbursed for one. WTF is going on here? I've been out of a car for 60 days!!!!

Yes. The VW/Audi team seems to be the most successful during this dismal period. OK enough is enough with all this VW/Audi Kool Aid! First and foremost BMW and MB are very dependent on the US market for sales while Audi isn't. And as you know the USA is currently suffering one of its worst auto declines in history. So the fact that Audi has better margins and sales growth when compared to MB and BMW is not astounding at all when you consider the main reason: Audi's miniscule sales in the USA. So you may ask hold it ----Audi sales have not declined in the USA as much as sales for MB and BMW or Lexus? My answer to that is that is because their largerst volume bread and butter car the Audi A4 just had a major redesign. Audi sales this year is stagnant which is a far cry from the twenty percent increase in sales BMW experienced when they introduced the new 3 series e90. Also Realty compared the BMW B7 with the Audi R8? That comparison makes no sense whatsoever since both cars are incomparable to begin with. How about the Audi R8 versus the Nissan GT-r? In that comparison the Audi R8 is a overpriced wimp. What about VW? Interior fit and finish is supreme and the best when compared to Honda or Toyota. BUT I woud always prefer to buy a comparable Honda or Toyota because VW seems to make cars as if they are inventing something brand new. Despite decades and decades of making cars VW has the same level of bugs and defects as new untested products of a new innovative nanotechnology company. At least Honda and Toyota spent their decades improving the quality and reliability of their cars versus VW which still has to figure out the radical notion of quality control. The day when a reliable VW is built will be the day when there will be a cure for cancer and human space colonies will exist in different galaxies.

Just paid list price at Colonial VW in Trevose PA. Just across the river northern philly suburb. Was on the list since August...wagon came in in the colors I wanted, but with the sunroof. Oh well... 2500 above MSRP? In this economy? Was in and out in 2 hours, they took my Caddy Seville in trade. 200 miles on it since yesterday when I picked up. With cruise control on, on the NJ turnpike between exit 9 and 7A...was returning a constant 50 MPG at 65/70 MPH. Oh, yeah, the dealer delivered with a full tank. I have just a little under 3/4 right now. You can do better.

Nice write-up. I just picked up my 6s Grand Touring w/ Moonroof/Bose package, black/black, this evening. I traded my BMW on this Mazda. I agree, it's not a BMW as far as handling, but for a front wheel drive car it's not bad. Nose heavy, as is inherent with any front-wheel drive car, but acceptable. Torque steer in minimal. I got it at Colonial Mazda in Indiana, PA at $100 over invoice. They used KBB good condition for the BMW. Most dealers in my area want to jump on "auction" value right away. My local dealer wanted $3,555 more than Colonial. That's worth a 45 mile drive! A lot of gizmos and gadgets on this car. It may take me a while to find them all. That owners manual is thick. :) I agree about the tires. They could be immensely better. :lemon:
