Ok guys i made the deal last night as i had to get the Van. The Ball Honda dealer in national City got me the deal for 29400(including destination and pro pack). the OTD after taxes and fees was $32000. The ystill have hte nibus gray and slate green with Olive interiors. Please talk to the internet sales manager before going (Paul Najor). They promised me $29300 and when i went there they started saying it did not include desination and propack. I said the price that i was quoted was including every thing. I told them i have an other dealer offering me the same price and if i am not going to get the deal i am going to walk and i said i was willing to pay $29400(THe other dealers who offered me $29300 do not have the colors i need so i was willing to pay a $100 more). If you want it for $29300 you can try Fueller Honda in Chula Vista. Do not go to DCH , mission valley, Pacific Honda or Tipton these dealers are not willing to sell it below $30000)
$2000 over MSRP in east San Diego County, CA
by brianflys on Mon Sep 01 00:34:12 PDT 2008
Test drove a black automatic '09 Fit Sport this afternoon at a dealer in east San Diego County, CA (Tipton Honda). This one was on the lot, unsold. The vehicle had a supplemental dealer sticker with mats, wheel locks, rear deck liner, plus a $2000 additional markup. Definite upgrade from the '08 I testdrove in early summer, but I can wait for the frenzy to pass. The dealer staff were polite when I said I was not interested at all in paying over MSRP. They said the best they could do is maybe $1K over right now. Gave my contact info and told them to call me when they had my model and color, with no markup or extra add-ons. I guess if you are seriously hot to get a black auto Sport and are willing to pay a big premium to be the first on your block to have one, give them a call.

No, the arrogance was my local dealer Tipton Honda. They would not let people test drive their Accord Hybrid. Their attitude was it is a Honda that should be good enough. My reaction. It is just another car. Nothing special. I tell you what I can order a new Mercedes any way I want it. Save enough money to fly over to Germany have a vacation. And have it delivered to my home. That is the kind of service I expect from any car company. You can rationalize having a couple different options with a take or leave it sales pitch. You would not sell a car to me. If I want leather and no NAV or sunroof, I will have it or go elsewhere. Too many car companies to accept that kind of crap from any of them.

When I looked at the first Accord hybrid at Tipton Honda in San Diego it was listed at $35,000. $32k MSRP with a $3000 add=on just because. They were not allowing any test drives. It sat for at least 2 weeks unsold. If they do the same with the diesel models they may flop like their hybrids. I would expect about a $2k premium for diesel. That should give plenty room for profit.

I used to test drive a lot of different cars when I lived in Anchorage. I wanted to test drive the new Honda Accord Hybrid when it came out. Tipton Honda near me had one sitting on the lot for 10 days before I got in to try it. They were not letting anyone test drive it. They wanted $3000 over MSRP. Now they cannot give those POC away. The same story on the Ody Touring. No test drives because it was the only one they got. All it did was reconfirm my distaste for anything Honda. At least the GM dealers offer a test drive even if they do go along.
