Re: 2001 CRV - timing belt? [2001hondacrv]
by mcdermott on Fri Sep 19 16:40:03 PDT 2008
You may be premature on your timing belt service. At www.gates.com it shows the 1997-2001 Honda CRV timing belt due for change at 105,000 miles - a long, long way from your current 66,000 miles. That sound you hear can also stem from a water pump going bad, or a different belt that needs to be replaced. To second a previous responder, you can't see your timing belt because it is under a cover, so why do you suspect it? I would get a second opinion from a professional before letting a Dealer hose me for possibly-unnecessary $800 repair. Think of it, you might take the Dealer's advise, replace the expensive timing belt, then still have the squeek. Regards, Jack

Engine clicking when cold: I have a similar noise in my '95 3.1V6 Grand Am. It is what I would call valve or lifter tap. It is as though one of the hydraulic lifters takes a long, long time to get fully pumped up. Seems to be worse in cold weather (makes sense - oil would be thicker). I wish I had a solution for you. I've tried some oil additives, but nothing seems to help. The good news is that my Grand Am has been doing this for at least 2 years and it hasn't gotten any worse. If you find a solution, please post it here! Clicking when turning: Sounds like a CV joint.

Re: Fitzmall 2008 LE 7-Pass [newmanq]

Hi newmanq, Your quote helped me a lot. Today I purchased my Sienna LE with the same packages at my local dealer darcars . MSRP: $27769.00 My price: $24000 (almost equal to your quote price plus $1800 rebate. Here I chose 60 months with 0% financing rather than the rebate.) add the other costs including maryland tax, tag, processing fee and so the total price comes to $25834.80. I don't feel how good for this deal, as that manager did not argue about this price too much. But I did get a really brand new vehicle, which was actually picked up from Rockville to Frederick for me and even so, there is only 50 miles on it. So totally I think I bought this vehicle in a fair price at the right time . Hope this to help you make a right decision. Ddchemist
Here's my update
by heatherd7476 on Fri Jul 11 07:31:53 PDT 2008
Well, let's see.. In about 2 weeks $3,300.00 later I will have a new transmission. I sent a letter to NHTSA and have not heard from them since. So now all I need to do is figure out how to come up with $3,300.00 to pay for it. Being a single mother of 3 does not help either. So needless to say I am like many other's on here who have personal issues also and are tring to figure out how they are going to get the money. Please keep me inform with any updates   Heather J. Frederick, MD

welcome to our Ford Freestar Fanclub Heather in Frederick! Consider yourself lucky that you got 84K out of yours before it left you stranded. Ours had 45K when it left my wife and 5 out of 6 of our children in the middle of an intersection! we are lucky no one got injured or killed. As for the class action, it is just a matter of time before all of this comes together. I don't expect much over the summer with everyone on vacation, etc,. But stay tuned! It took the Explorer situation a while to get going and look how that turned out. In the meantime, report your failure to NHTSA. One more complaint is one more complaint that they can't ignore and make excuses why they didn't intervene before someone gets killed or injured driving one of these defective vehicles.
