09 Touring
by dpatduke on Thu Oct 23 06:42:19 PDT 2008
A dealer in the Raleigh-Durham, NC area has offered me the following deal on an 09 Touring (no PAX). $36,702 + 3% tax + 472 fee for an out the door price of $38,276. How does that sound? I wonder if Honda will kick in incentives next month and whether it's worth waiting for a few weeks. Thanks.

$3.89 RUG 10/04/08. Some stations did not have any gasoline at all for a day or two. At my local BP station there was only Regular and no other grades.
A big run...
by drem on Sun Sep 28 18:26:58 PDT 2008
It's been a while since I have posted. My 1999 Camry is still posting lower than normal mileages. Long runs at 72mph w/CC used to give a solid 36-37 mpg, but now the mileages range all over from 32.5 to 35mpg on the same trips I have always been taking. My mechanic can't locate an obvious cause, but I am not going to start replacing computers, O2 sensors, etc. without good cause. I thought it might be varying ethanol concentrations, but I took my 2004 Camry on the same trips twice and the mpg's on those two trips were 35.3 and 35.7 (normal)so it's not obvious that the fuel is the main culprit. This weekend I took a round trip from Durham to Columbia and back in the 2004. I pumped the tires to 35psi and set the CC at 66 mph. (There was a little 60-65mph around the beltline). 323 miles up and 325 miles back with one cold start and a small side trip to the mall. 648 miles overall on one one tank and consumed 15.50 gallons filler cap to filler cap at the same pump. Overall mpg was 41.8. The low fuel light never came on... This is my third long run with the 2004 at 66 mph now. My mileages were 40.0, 40.4 and 41.8. Interestingly, the two lower runs were on the 'open' road with little traffic. This weekends run was with plenty of traffic. Was the higher mpg due to a lot of being sucked along by all the rest of the cars that were going 10mph faster than me? Maybe... Drem

Here's my mileage info... I'm a few days short of 1 month ownership. I have one of the demo cars. My typical drive is a 25-29mile 1way commute depending on which path I take. the longer has about 12 miles of highway. Otherwise I vary between 25mph and 45mph typically with hills. I'm fortunate I don't have very many stops on my commute which helps the mpg. My typ is 40/60 highway/local but my local is backroads and small towns west of boston (495 to sNH area). My first full tank was ~43mpg (some extra local errands) 2nd full tank was ~47mpg (had some extra highway with trip to Durham). I'm working on >48 halfway through my 3rd tank. Based on the first 2 tanks the trip computer is high by ~5% so this is a guess based on what I saw with the first 2 fill-ups. I'm hoping for 700 miles on this fill... I'm noticing that the car is sort of immune to highs. The low torque helps to keep the mpg from dropping like I would see in my minivan. As you might guess, I'm very happy with what I'm seeing so far. :-) j

This was at Sport Durst (Millennium Automotive Group) Durham, NC. I guess the lesson I learned: get a written quote (just dont trust all auto dealers).
