Backy-- If the ESC package is that important to you, have you ever thought about going to California or another west coast market with lower prices and greater choice? It would be a three or four day drive back, but it could get you the car you want at a big discount. I know there's a database that sweeps newspaper ads for the lowest posted prices in the country. If you were going to pay over book for a used car, why not pay under for a new one? I picked the local dealer, even though I could have gotten a base car cheaper elsewhere in St. Louis. Kind of regret it now that I see what tires are going to cost for replacement and frankly the car (low mileage) hasn't been back to the dealer in the almost two years I've owned it.

2008 T & C -- Several questions....
by mssooz on Fri Apr 11 12:37:50 PDT 2008
My hubby and I and our expanding family are getting ready to purchase a 2008 T & C Limited any minute now. We've been given a F & F discount code. Another friend has asked a Chrysler employee to sign us up for the Employee Discount. He has my information and I'm waiting on the email but now I see that the Employee Discount has been discontinued. Darn the luck. So I guess I'm expecting 1% below invoice. Can you please confirm that the dealer will show me the invoice and the PP (preferred pricing) will be listed in plain old black and white for me? I understand that I can take a $1500 rebate instead of great financing (check around -- you can get great financing at a local credit union). I called the rebate center and found out about an additional $1000 rebate if you already own a Chrysler product. I asked the rep how you prove that you own a Chrysler product if you don't drive it there. She said that you have to provide the last 8 digits of a VIN and that they might ask you to show a registration or something. Well, until very recently, I owned a Jeep and I have a large file of service records, extended warranty information, etc. on it and could easily provide the last 8 digits of a VIN to save an additional $1,000. But if they're going to grill me and force me to sign over the rights to my next born, I'm not going to push the issue of trying to save an additional $1,000. Can anyone tell me based on their real life recent buying experience, what you had to provide in order to get the $1,000 rebate for owning a Chrysler product? Also, I'm pricing the new van with the M package and a moonroof. I'm told that the L package is cheaper and that I can get a moonroof with that, but the www.chrysler.com website won't let me. Any answers to any of my questions would be greatly appreciated. Personal email is mssooz@swbell.net Suzi
08 civic coupe LX automatic problems?
by tysalpha on Wed Mar 26 18:24:00 PDT 2008
When the wipers are on intermittent mode, you will hear a faint click when they begin and end one cycle. It's a relay switch closing and opening the electrical circuit. If the click is at different times (mid-wipe), or if sounds more continuous -- like a broken switch that can't decide if it wants to be on or off -- then it could be a problem with the relay switch or the intermittent frequency dial. Regarding the brake pedal shake -- I wonder if this is your ABS activating. This is the first lightweight, small car I've driven and I notice the ABS activates much more easily than on a heavier car -- especially when breaking and leading into a turn.

Agree about running the A/C in winter. In fact, I would recommend using the A/C at least once a week, provided it's above about 40F outside. I've had no worries with my 07 Civic so far, but in my previous car I forgot this routine one winter (when the car was about 4 years old), and the A/C was completely ruined afterwards.
