Re: EX-L initial quotes coming in (all OTD) with huge variation [cargirl9]

reiterate that you need an OTD price in writing, vertification that they have the vehicle in stock *in writing* and that as soon as you get that you will call with a deposit. and that you and dh will be in asap......you're sure you'll find everything exactly as promised in writing, but if there are any unfortunate miscommunications, you will walk to the next guy....sorry to be so harsh but we've had some bad experiences etc etc. do they also know that you're willing to go out of town for it? are you? your hassle sounds like the nonsense i got from the nissan dealerships. i couldn't get one to give me a hard number. one keeps writing me 'i've tried to contact you but have been unsuccessful. please let me know if you've received my quote'. i keep writing back, 'i never received a quote from you, i received a request to come test drive the Quest. I don't want to test drive one. I want to buy one. To do that, I need an OTD quote with every number down to the penny so I can have the $$ in hand to execute the deal quickly. Let me know when you're interested in selling me a car." Three emails like that and still 'have you received my quote? when can you come in so we can talk about your trade? OH MY MAUDE!!! WHAT TRADE. I DON"T HAVE A TRADE. LOL. Crazy. I'd say it flat out.....give us a firm out the door quote accounting for *everything*. confirm that you have the vehicle in stock and we'll be there by close of business. if it's as promised in writing, we close the deal. if it's not, we walk. look forward to meeting you so soon. :) k

I have to confess that when I see a highly engineered car that is capable of amazing speeds and cornering, being driven like a golf cart on a winding path at a retirement home, it gives me chest pains. It's not like I expect them to take every corner in a four-wheel drift, but yes, watching them putter along like Aunt Maude in her Roadmaster is just bizarre... :confuse:

I think the ES is going to be a little busy for Maude. Read on (from autoblog): Lexus cars are regarded as some of the safest on the road, however a new lawsuit against the company could tarnish this reputation. A class action brought about by a Florida law firm alleges that the Lexus ES350 is fitted with a faulty front passenger airbag sensor that could prevent the airbag from triggering in the event of a collision. The suit goes on to explain that the defective vehicles are fitted with a weight sensor that gauges the weight of the person in the front passenger seat, but that these sensors have been found to be faulty. One representative claims that he tested multiple ES350 vehicles and found them to be defective, as did other customers from across the country. Worse, it claims Toyota was warned about these issues and failed to correct them. The owners want Toyota to recall and repurchase all ES350s, refunds for those that leased the cars, each car to be refitted with a working airbag system, and compensation for any loss of value and costs owners incurred during this process. We'll be watching this one closely BTW, sisters, triplets, they're STILL siblings. When you hike their skirts you still see :surprise: :surprise: :surprise: (OK, that's just wrong, I know)

they are not radically diffent. They are all soft riding family cars built for highway cruising. As usual you fail to actually explain the basis for your statement. Then again, if you did that it would cut down on your posts drastically. Care to explain why the toyota cars are so much more different than the epsilon cars by GM? Well, I don't want to put words in Loren's mouth, but maybe here's a similar analogy...the GM epsilon cars are kind of like identical triplets, all wearing different dresses. Whereas the Toyotas are just sisters...there's a family resemblance but it's not as noticeable. The Camry's the shorter, chunkier sister with kind of a swollen nose. The Avalon is the taller sister. And the ES300 is the sister whose built like a linebacker and has been approached by Hollywood to star as the lead role in an upcoming movie rendition of "Maude" :P
Re: $4 a gallon is cheap in contrast to Brazil [ponderpoint]

I say bring the prices up to record highs and get some of these crybabies in their barges an "international" reality check! I agree. I don't know who is responsible for teaching this mindset that cheap, plentiful gas is an American birthright. The higher the price goes the sooner we'll develop alternatives. Unfortunately we typically only react to a crisis. We're not at the crisis point yet but we do need to be taking action. That being the case the price of gasoline needs to keep going up, way up. When I make comments like this I am almost always attacked with the same argument. "What about the poor, don't you care about the poor"? If you've ever watched "The Simpson's" it has that same mindless quality as when Maude Flanders would shriek, "will someone please think about the children". Funny thing is these people almost all drive full sized trucks or SUVS, make a decent living and normally could give a rat's ass about the poor.

Even if its your death? Or your kids? I love it when someone references kids. Since we were talking about Homer Simpson it reminds me of Maude Flanders who used to always shriek at town meetings, "will someone please think about the children". The cynicism is classic.
