2004 Silverado Experience
by white6 on Mon Mar 20 06:54:10 PST 2006
Purchased new in July 2004. Sales price (after all incentives) of $19,000; also received a $500 Lowes Gift Card as small business incentive, so my effective price was $18,500 (before trade and tax). Truck stickered for just under $29,000. Dealer got me a 3.65% loan through Chase. No added on fees of any kind (advertising, title, etc.). Buying experience was one of the best I've ever had. Small town rural dealer (Knipplemier Chevy in Blanchard, OK). 16,000+ miles so far and not a single problem. Upgrades so far: SS grille, roll-up tonneau cover, set of 17-inch Suburban take-off wheels and tires, Predator handheld tuner (87 octane tune mainly to improve tranny performance and correct for speedometer error from larger wheels/tires), and a seat-raising kit. This last thing fixed the only real flaw in my truck; darn seats were too low. Only option we didn't get that I wish we had was power seats so they can be raised. Bought a kit off E-bay that raises the seat about 1-1/2-inches: perfect! Get 18-19 mpg in mixed driving. All in all, very happy with this truck. And the best part? I'll be paying it off this week!
Re: How would the UAW save GM? [clethro]
by rockylee on Sun Mar 19 11:08:46 PST 2006
The UAW couldn't do any worst. #1 The UAW would build high quality cars to preserve the "union craftsmenship" reputation union workers have enjoyed over the years. I know many in this forum think a big international union like the UAW or IUE-CWA, just take members money, negotiate conracts, save fired employees jobs, and that's about it. I growing up got to expierence alot. My grandmother was a IUE union rep for almost 22 years. I went with her to the union halls and got to listen to her talk on the telephone, got to sit in her office and watch union members come to her hall for union meetings, I also got to go on trips with her to other locals. It was a very great expierence, and I treasure it very much to this day. Grandma used to teach classes at Michigan State, she was the first women appointed by former Gov. Blanchard to serve on the boiler board of rules and regulations in the state of Michigan. She also taught diversity classes, sexual harrassment, industrial safety classes, etc, at various locals in the midwest. ;) I just wanted to point out other things unions do to improve conditions that in most cases help employers have a better relationship with its employees, thus it's not all doom and gloom all the time. Bad Idea? Flowmasters for Mustang GT?
by jennymae on Wed Jun 01 17:31:57 PDT 2005
I have a 2000 Mustang GT, and I had got flowmasters put on about a month after getting the car, and all my friends say it was a bad idea because it takes away some of you power. And I can tell a huge difference in the power. Is there a better exhaust that can give you more power, and still make your car sound really good? Thanx!!!

Thrasher CAI
by atbear on Mon Jul 22 23:13:30 PDT 2002
Not sure if you've heard of anybody who has done it, but I installed a Thrasher Cold Air Induction kit on my car today with the 9" cone filter (took about an hour and a half). The Thrasher fits nicely in the Impala (not completely flush, but still is a good fit). I can definately feel the difference. Not necessarily off the line acceleration, but after getting to 2300-2500 RPMs there is no drop off like before, you keep accelerating right on through. This is definately a good mod for the Impala! My exhaust will be next (high flow cat with dual exhaust)... so I'll let you know! I just wanted to let you know about the Thrasher in case I was the first Impala you knew of with it installed. Cross Drilled Rotors
by autobahn95 on Mon Feb 11 19:32:26 PST 2002
Shucknet - you were asking about the cross-drilled and vented rotors that i just bought. I found them at Hutchins Automotive here in Lockport,NY. they were VERY reasonable in price. the rear rotors were 26.95 each, and the fronts were 40.95 each. Not bad considering plain rotors are 19.95 for the fronts and 21.99 each for the rears. Before i buy anything for my Aurora, i do my homework and research my options to make sure i get the best part at a good price. All 4 rotors are directional, and they are also blanchard ground on both friction surfaces, which means they are absolutely the same thickness all the way around. this is great especially in getting rid of small vibrations while driving, along with totally eliminating any pulsation in the brake pedal during braking. they claim that brake rotor temperatures can be reduced by up to 200 degrees when vented and cross-drilled, which will greatly reduce brake-fade under repeated stops. another benefit is that there is virtually no loss in stopping power under wet and rainy driving conditions, where with normal rotors the water could act as a lubricant between the rotors and brake pads. if you post your email address, i have a digital camera and i could send you pictures of the rotors within a few days. if you have any other questions about the rotors, don't hesitate to ask. right now i am trying to match up a good set of brake pads for my Aurora so i can install the entire package once the weather warms up and i start driving the car again.
