Re: low boost code do to resonator problem [fyngrynd]
by dogvan on Sun Nov 16 09:08:09 PST 2008
My turbo resonator failed on July 26, 2008 (2006 Sprinter with 7300 miles) en route to ONT from NJ on a Sunday afternoon. Flemington NJ Dodge dealership was useless as was Chrysler 800#. ;) Thankfully, Kingston ONT dealership was terrific, identified the problem quickly, fit me into their schedule on Mon am and made a same-day repair under warranty. I post my story so others will be better informed and perhaps can pressure Dodge for better service and better trained techs.

Thanks Brian. I'm very happy to report that my Kingston 4GB thumb drive DOES plug into the Fit's USB drive and the music DOES play!! I also use Express Rip. :) Thanks again, Don p.s. How does one tell Express Rip to include the meta data?
Re: Insurance and Business Rebate [harleys]

To answer a few questions - no idea what Sep rebates are - but I'd expect with oil falling and supply dwindling as the factories have been closed, these rebates will start to fade. The one thing working in your favor is a 2008 is really a used car at this point by model year terms, so that should help. Our dealer was in Kingston. Not sure I can post name, but you can figure it out. As for the business discount, yes, it will show your DBA on the title, registration and the insurance card must match your DBA name precisely. But for a sole proprietorship, there is no extra paperwork or hassle. If you do this, you want to tell your insurance this is something like a 10% part time business. Our insurer had no issues with this - they said 20% was their limit. (I told them exactly what I was doing in terms of scoring an extra discount - they enjoyed the story...) And call it something that has you driving only around your own house - like a farm. I'm not surprised Allstate would try to make some more money off it - they are overpriced to start with IMHO :-) Finally, check Mass. prices. Had we gone there, we may have saved another $1K based on what I saw online, but not sure they will sell to NY resident and provide the Mass. rebates. Good luck and let us know how you make out!
Re: poor gas mileage [greatcars]

I recently drove across Canada from Kingston Ontario to Vancouver BC in a brand new Tucson GL 4cyl auto 2wd. The vehicle was found to be very comfortable (great seats), quiet, has good driving dynamics & excellent brakes. I found 4 things that I disliked -- just-adequate power, racous engine at full throttle, slightly odd accelerator position & poor fuel economy. The vehicle load was 450 - 500 lbs including passengers & we cruised at the highest tolerable speed that policing would ignore (10 - 20 kph above the posted limit). We did not drive with economy as a priority, but neither did we try to beat the hell out of the car. We simply drove as circumstances required to get "there" from "here". The absolute best milage we noted was right on 25 MPG (Imp gal. --- about 21 MPG US gal), with 22 - 23 being more common & less than 20 as we ground our way through the rockies. My Chrysler 300C is better than that & my 3.2 L Chrysler Concord is a bunch better!! We didn't notice any particular improvement in performance or economy as the trip progressed over the 5000 km total, so I'm not convinced that break-in is an issue. There is ample cruise power at any sane speed, but passing on 2-lane roads requires planning & care. While it climbed the mountains without becoming a mobile road block (1 vehicle passed us in the Kootenay Pass), it sure worked hard at continuous full throttle in 3rd gear for many km in the passes. We were able to maintain at least 80 kph (50 mph) in all passes, except for 2 brief drops back to 70 kph at the 2 steepest points in the mountains. I came away from the trip with considerable respect for the beast & I am considering buying a 6 cyl Tucson to replace my Concord which is nearing the end of its economically viable life. However, with gasoline at >$1.30/L I might buy a used 300C for the same price -- it's cheaper to run than the Tucson.
2009 Matrix XR with automatic, (how much $ in Ontario for a fair deal?)
by ironline on Thu Jul 10 11:19:31 PDT 2008
I reside in the Kingston Ontario area and would like to purchase a 2009 Matrix XR with an automatic transmission. This would be a cash deal also. How much would a fair price be to pay?

Supply and demand doesn't cause $16 jumps in a few days. Hype does There was a guy on the NPR marketplace show this afternoon that said exactly that. JOHN KINGSTON: You don't move up $14 a barrel just on fundamentals when fundamentals haven't changed in 48 hours. But clearly there's been such a walloping of the dollar today. That is what's driving this over the last few days. Because there is really nothing else in the market right now that would indicate that there's a reason why oil should resume its growth. Full story there The Federal Reserve Board's recent effort to talk up the value of the dollar was drowned out yesterday when the president of the European Central Bank dropped a big hint that he'll raise interest rates to fight inflation. Fed watcher David Jones: DAVID JONES: That, of course, caused the dollar to fall, the euro to increase. And once again, the traders in a knee jerk way sold or shorted the dollar and bought crude oil. Basically to sum up the dollar getting walloped some questionable at best calls by analysts, and a few genuine concerns of supply stock piles are making oil go wonky.
