Re: Some ugly pictures under a cloudy sky [anthonyp]

Hola, Tony. It is 5:30 over here. (95% of the Spanish territory is western to the Greenwich Meridian, but we keep the Europe Central Time for practical reasons.) I am stretching my brain. Today is a polling day, so I will go to vote and afterwards… Saludos, Jose

Re: '01 MONTERO SPORT - RADIO [sexyvy]
by bamacountry on Thu Jan 25 06:51:18 PST 2007
I know this is an old message, however, I purchased a 1999 Montero Sport Limited with 120K miles on it. I had it servicd Plugs only, to a tune of $500 bucks, two weeks later the belts started squealing loudly, I took it back to my mechanic, which I should have done in the first plac e and had all the drive belts, timing belt and water pump replaced, the new pump was $180. Anyway, the total cost of labor & parts was $684.72. I think this was a fair price considering I had initially tried to replace the belts myself and as usual, got frustrated. It was woth every penny to me. I then picked up my sport and noticed that the radio did not work, had to have the code, I done as the above poster did, somewhat, I pulled the cup holders out half way, gently pried the plate up from the radio, using a flashlight, the serial numbers were revealed, Yeehaa! What was better was the service manager at the Mitsubishi dealer in Jackson, Ms gave me the code after giving him the serial #, where the guy in Meridian Ms, more or less said if I would bring it in that they could do it for $80. Anyway, I now have my sound, fully serviced ride and ready to go. Good Luck.

You may know this or not, but a lot of so called "judgment or use of the wide discretion" within parameters to do law enforcement actions, is triggered a lot by body language. Schema has a lot to do with it also. So you might inadvertently have "that body language" Keep in mind one of the tenants of community policing is contact at a low level BEFORE /a crime is committed not after. If you want or need these types of policies to be reversed in your community, as a community member, voter, you need to let your municipality know and vigorously. So for example, the "FAST and Furious" problem is an issue in these connecting municipalities. Oaktown as you know already know has almost nightly rubber peeling parties and street racing activity. Keep in mind that when a baseball player hits .400, which is HUGE, that means he has failed utterly 6/10 times. I have gone on a few ride alongs, in one city that you mentioned, actually. In one incident, we got on NB highway 880 and passed a front bumper in the left shoulder meridian. To my eye, yup debris there, but just another: wonder why that is there question. Upshot NO big deal. So we lined up to join a stop at a gas station on a possible DUI. (don't know the codes, I am a "civilian") And you will never guess the bumper on the highway seemed to be the same color as the car that was stopped and was coincidently missing a ..... bumper!!!??? So we got out to recon the scene. How many cars were there, at least 4. I actually went up to the person who was the driver. I have to say to look at her, talk to her, even smell her, etc., I would NOT make out her to be under the influence. Yet she failed the sobriety test. So hey no big deal, Just another Friday might DUI stop. But how the bumper got to be in the left meridian was she had hit, (rear ended )the car in front of her and took off running (hit and run). The victim got the license plate and make of the fleeing car. We got the call through 911 and that of course as you probably know goes through the CHP at some remote location. We put 1 plus one together and .... So how many of these would you have gotten right if one happened on the scene? I missed that she was three sheets to the wind. Another involved weapons. I am combat trained, but truly that was 31-33 years ago. In the context of the ride along I had ZERO expectation of backing up an officer. So again I am in the front passenger seat of the patrol cruiser and as you know the shot gun is mounted in a bracket. We stop a guy for not stopping for a red light before making a right hand turn. The officer I am riding with approaches his passengers side as I open the patrol cars passenger door. The guy literally LEAPS out of the car. In a split second it looks to me like he has a firearm. With no looking, no training, no nada, I had that Remington 870 shot gun out and pointed in his direction covering the officers flank. Turns out he was one of those "armed" guards. He did get the ticket for blowing the red light.
Survey
by jaymagic on Fri Jan 05 23:23:01 PST 2007
Just got an email survey for the next Hyundai, V8, rear wheel drive, and much larger than Azera. They had some decent pictures of it with the survey. The survey asked what I thought of various names(9)for the new model. About $35K to $38K according to the survey. My favorites were Toscana and Geneva. My least fav's were Echelon and Meridian. Equus was not an option.
Thud Update
by ol07 on Mon Nov 13 15:48:35 PST 2006
So....I took the car back to the dealer today and as expected the service department "could not duplicate the noise". This isn't "my" dealer just the one I bought the car at. They claim to have driven the car 3 times and not heard a thing. As soon as I got in the car and put in drive THUD (3 times before I was off the lot)! So I will just make the hour drive north to Rick Justice Meridian. The service manager there said to call him a day in advance and he would take a ride with me to figure out what is going on. I've noticed that the thud is more pronounced when turning and moving at a slow speed (e.g. pulling into a parking space). It was so loud today when I was parking that I thought I hit something. I must say that the service department here is subpar. I didn't even know where to go to give them my keys. There was no service counter or anything! For the past 4 years I have been going to Rick Justice(phenomenal service dept) eventhough I moved an hour away 3 years ago! After I bought a new car 2 weeks ago I thought it was pointless to drive an hour out of my way just to have it serviced. Looks like I will be making that hour drive for all needed service from now on.
