Sounds delicious [wheelman]

I understand the batteries will be about 1/3rd of the cost of the VOLT. I am sure the electric drive motor will come from China. Does not leave many crumbs for the UAW to munch on. Or as this article along side yours Says: Let the people eat cake WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) -- The most powerful people in the world will dine on roasted rack of lamb, fruitwood-smoked quail and a chanterelle-jussed tomato, fennel and eggplant fondue, while millions of people around the world lose their jobs, their homes and their hopes. President George W. Bush will host 97 other delegates from the Group of 20 nations at a working dinner Friday at the White House. They'll discuss how to coordinate the emergency actions needed to prevent a severe global depression while they sip on three different wines, including a delightful Shafer Cabernet "Hillside Select" 2003. Bush has put himself into a tricky spot with this dinner. On the one hand, you can't invite people over and not feed them. On the other hand, the gourmet dinner being offered to the leaders may not send exactly the right signal to more than 100 million people who've been pushed back into poverty in the past year . Just last week, Bob Zoellick, head of the World Bank, concluded that "as always, it is the poorest and most vulnerable who are the hardest hit." Tonight at the White House, he'll be thinking of those words as he bites into a heavenly pear torte with huckleberry sauce. Here's the menu for Friday's dinner, as released by the White House: * Fruitwood-smoked quail with quince gastrique and quinoa risotto * Landmark Chardonnay "Damaris Reserve" 2006 * Thyme-roasted rack of lamb and a tomato, fennel and eggplant fondue with chanterelle jus * Shafer Cabernet "Hillside Select" 2003 * Lolla rosa, red oak and endive with cider vinaigrette * Baked Vermont brie with walnut crostini * Pear torte with huckleberry sauce * Chandon Étoile Rosé. Bon appetit! -- Rex Nutting, Washington bureau chief End of Story

I don't work for any auto maker. An automaker wouldn't want me. I restore autos. If one is buying a premium vehicle ,one would expect to get a premium interior. That doesn't include recycled wood . Recycled wood is alright on lesser cars. And as far as Ford being green, I don't care if Ford is purple ,orange, red or a combination of. And I really don't care if the car only gets 10 mpg. People who could afford paying for a premium car should be able to afford the fuel and the extra cost of a premium interior using ebony or oak that has a matching grain pattern from a block of wood. In my opinion the engineered wood is just another method of if trying to do things on the cheap. Make it as cheaply as possible and then charge for it as though the option is made from a block of wood that has a matching grain pattern. I don't mean only Ford . Ford gets mentioned only because the MKS is a Ford product and that is what this forum is about. I think that every manufacturer would always try to do things as cheaply as possible and then try to maximize the return on investment from doing such. What I take exception to is doing that on what is supposed to be a premium vehicle. I would expect at least a little craftsmanship on that type a car. One has to ask if Ford couldn't use its engineered genuine wood ,would Ford use any wood at all in this car? Would Ford deemed genuine wood as being too costly? Another thing, what is happening to craftsmanship? If your a furniture maker, or a person who likes to make his own furniture and cabinets ,etc, then you should be concerned also.
WRX 2009 Are In
by nerd1 on Tue Sep 16 13:24:28 PDT 2008
If anyone is in the So Cal area, Irvine Subaru, Long Beach Subaru, Thousand Oaks Subaru, and others have the new 2009 WRX's in. I felt a big difference in power in the 09 WRX. The car kept pulling up to 6000 rpm's. The moon roof and red stitching looks sweet!!! Not a big fan of the rims.
'08 A3 S-Line: My Lease Deal
by fasanfamily on Sun Aug 31 15:24:22 PDT 2008
Thought I'd share my results with the forum since I have been using these boards as a valuable reference over the past 2 months in my research. Just got myself an ‘08 A3 today. Misano Red 2.0 T auto S-tronic S Line with Open Sky System, 18″ wheels and bluetooth. MSRP $33,670. Selling price was $27,299. 36 month lease, 12k/year miles, $1400 due at signing, $450/month after tax. Car is great and it seems like I got a pretty good deal on their last ‘08. Deal was through US Bank, not Audi because supposedly the deal woudn't have been as good through them. The US Bank MF was .002something and residual was in the 40s so no help there but selling price way below invoice helped balance things out. Location is LA area.
Classic Pearl Oak Paint
by rtribble on Sun Jan 13 23:46:11 PST 2008
mackabee you are right that is what it is, however it doesn't look anything like the color shown on the Toyota web sight. On the web sight it looks really red but ours doesn't look that red at all but more of a brownish maroon color with reddish tint. hdfatboy Couldn't sleep so I finnaly got the paperwork out of the car and went over all of it. Advantage Vehicle Service Contract (what I thought was a Toyota bumper to bumper extended warranty) $2,213 Guaranteed Auto Protection Agreement (GAP) $360 Paintless Dent repair $363 Enviro Limited Warranty ( fabric, paint, vinyl,&leather protector) $363 And something called A/T Transfer fee $288 This comes to $3,587 in coverage that is pretty much worthless to me when all I was really interested in was what I thought was a Toyota extended warranty but turned out to be a service contract of some kind. I feel so stupid for signing all these papers without reading them and understanding what the actual cost were going to be for each one of them but he was so good at selling me that I trusted him completly and he made it sound like it wasn't that expensive. When I told him I was only interested in the extended warranty and wanted to wait and think about it he told me that if I didn't take it at the time of the car purchase it would cost $800 more to get the coverage later. I cant believe I was that stupid but I just was'nt thinking clearly at all. Expensive lesson.
