no title: by kens on Mon Aug 05 12:59:18 PDT 2002; Teresa -- You bet. I miss living in the East Bay too. I used to live in El Cerrito and I'm now in San Mateo. Lots of great places to eat on Shattuck Ave including Chez Panisse! Kate -- Zachary's is good too, but it's Chicago-style deep dish pizza, which I personally don't care for. Their "thin crust" is better, but it's still a little heavy for me. Cheeseboard Pizza is a lot more simple. You've got to try it once. Mike -- I know, I know. As a native New Yorker, I still feel the best pizza in the world comes from the Big Apple. There's nothing that beats a hot slice fresh out of the oven! I'll tell you what -- FedEx me a couple of pepperoni slices and I'll send you some Cheeseboard Pizza. ;-) Ken

no title: by kens on Sat Apr 28 12:13:09 PDT 2001; bit: When I vacationed in Yosemite a few years ago, I had brought a pizza from the Cheesboard (excellent bread/cheese shop on Shattuck in Berkeley) for dinner that night. I realized that the pizza smell had saturated the inside of my Forester after the 4 hour drive. Worried about the bears, I rolled down all my windows and drove around for a good 20 minutes to air it out. Graham: Glad to know no one was injured. You may want to have the bumper checked out. There is a piece of energy absorbing foam (much like a bike helmet) all inside the bumper. Once that's been squashed, it looses it's effectiveness. Ken

Dealer in Berkeley: by m3838 on Tue May 16 03:36:16 PDT 2000; Hi. Well, when we were ready for test drive, fleet manager asked us to file the papers first and then to look at the car and drive it. If we will not like it - we will toss the papers. He didn't play any tricks - it was Mother's day and I arrived late at the lot. We (silly) agreed and when we were shown the car - we were a bit disappointed. There were some minor problems with it. The guy wanted to go home and started to pressing us a little. He didn't mention that garage was just across the street, so we could roam the lot and pick the car ourselves. He was just calling there and the car was delivered. Well, we bought it. My whife didn't like it, my home folks didn't like it etc., so when I came back to the dealer (to bring the keys from my trade-in and pink slip), I asked this silly question: "if it is possible to switch cars, because i accidentally dropped by the garage and saw white CE that I liked. Off course the manager said "no", I was not leaving, he explained it to me a couple of times, I explained to him why I didn't pick the other one the day before and finally he allowed to do that! Amazing! So now I have white CE that suits us perfectly! Soo, my great thanks and highest rankings to Berkeley Toyota's manager Tim, who showed real respect for the customer in very tough situation. His advice at the end was: NEVER sign anything sight unseen, even on Mother's day, and even at his own dealership. Berkeley Toyota, at 2400 Shattuck Ave, Berkeley, CA.
