good deal. If you don't need to deal now it sounds like you could get more in your Lancer GTS by waiting for the 2009 Mitsubishi Lancer GTS. I just know that I love my '08 Lancer GTS just as much now as I did in March of 2007 when I was itching so bad to trade my '01 Sportage 4X4 in. Once I saw this beautiful car's exterior in all of its glorious detail I just set my sights on getting one and I was going to get one, that was all there is to it! I am glad you have been struck by Mitsu Lancer fever lovethelancer. Very cool. Did you know that I rented a plain old white 2004 Mitsubishi Lancer sedan in late 2004? It was an automatic transmission model and I needed it while my Sportage 4X4 got a new alternator. I was actually even impressed by the old-gen Lancer and I did not forget that. Manufacturer's need to keep in mind that when they sell to rental agencies its a great way to spread the word about their brand of cars. Someone like me rents their cars and then remembers that experience for later. I have been a Kia fan for the last 9 years and just got turned on to Mitsubishi about a year ago exactly. One year ago I was reading that autospies piece I linked to in here just recently and globbing on to anything and everything I could find about Mitsubishi. Everything I found was positive and these people and their pride for the Mitsubishi name and brand trademark is truly inspiring. I'll pop a link in here for you to read up on sometime. It is truly interesting. They take their carbuilding seriously, yes, but they take it many steps further. They enter their cars in the Dakar Rally races and they win them. Then they take this build information back to the engineering room and on to the manufacturing floor. That report by Bryan Arnett, Lancer Product Information Officer touches on this Dakar racing heritage and all the other racing history Mitsubishi builds in to their cars. BTW-I took a turn from a frontage road on to a I-10 freeway onramp the other day and accelerated in to the turn in a large manner and freaked my wife out. I mean, we were stretching in to the turn and the Lancer GTS just ate it up and wanted more! You will love how your Lancer GTS handles! One of the early reviews on the 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer GTS says that you will feel like you are driving an expensive European sports sedan costing twice what you'll pay for your Lancer GTS.

that I posted a link to that report. Here it is: http://www.autospies.com/news/Spies-give-you-an-early-preview-of-the-next-Mitsub- - ishi-EVO-12186/ It's worth reading it and enjoying all of the pictures, including the report from the 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer Manager of Product Strategy, Bryan Arnett. Enjoy! :D

"At least one ('Glacier Girl') made it out in pieces and was restored, it was buried under the ice. You can read about the recovery and restoration here:" Interesting. My uncle flew B-17s escorting P-38s about a week later, but he made it across except for weather delays (on the ground, fortunately). W.S. Arnett War Diary

precisely my point, Mr.Bond. You got it...Mitsubishi is a company that has won scads of races with their products and the Lancer goes back to 1973 with its racing heritage. I rented an '04 Lancer in the fall of '04 and thought it was a decent little 4-door sedan to drive. It's this 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer that really has caught my eye. I remember seeing pictures of it months ago...little hints at front views...looked good. But Mitsu has designed the whole car's package to look exceedingly good IMO. Funny, one review lists the taillights as "looked lopsided" or words to that effect. I see them as aesthetically pleasing. This car will sell in good numbers for Mitsubishi. There are literally tons of thought put into the design of this car. It is said to handle very well...some reviews list the 2.0L 4 cyl motor developed with Hyundai and DCX as being "not strong enough to power the car along." I rarely feel the same as magazine writers about an automotive product. I have yet to drive an '08 Mitsu Lancer yet I know it will have enough power for me. I am planning on buying one with a 5-speed manual tranny and that will serve to boost the handsome sedan's performance by default. elgatoloco-check out this link and take the presentation by Bryan Arnett, '08 Lancer Program Manager, in, OK? If you are at all interested in this new car from Mitsubishi, you will be infused with good knowledge from this link. http://www.autospies.com/news/Spies-give-you-an-early-preview-of-the-next-Mitsub- ishi-EVO-12186/
Well...

this 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer weighs around 3,300 lbs. I am used to this weight as I have bought two Kia's in a row. Kia's are notoriously heavy vehicles. With the '08 Lancer Mitsubishi has built a new sporty sedan that is 56% more "torsionally tough" than the outgoing Lancer. Even though the engine has an aluminum block and head Mitsubishi engineers have toughened up the torsional rigidity of the car quite a bit. This adds weight but helps with handling. Early reviews are really pretty positive and test-drivers marvel at how the car holds in curves and steers on center with little steering correction. If you haven't gone to the autospies link that I posted on this thread do go there and read up. There Bryan Arnett, '08 Lancer Program Manager, explains all of the new engineering designed into this great looking new Mitsubishi. I am still waiting for pricing on '08 Lancer models and options. I am guessing that the '08 Lancer GTS I want in 5-speed form and Electric Blue or Rally Red will price out at about $19,295. Or thereabouts. Can't wait to test drive. :D
Mitsubishi has significantly improved their Lancer
by iluvmysephia1 on Wed Feb 14 22:25:02 PST 2007
because of several new key engineering improvements. I'll mention a few of them here. There is increased body rigidity, a new "world" engine developed with DCX and Hyundai, and the MIVEC engine that has variable valve timing. Camshafts will turn at two points for improved efficiency and power, exhaust now travels towards the rear when the last-gen Lancer's exhaust went toward the front of the car(yes, it's true but sounds kind of weird). There is a design change that allows Mitsu engineers to place a straight horizontal cross member up front that improves handling. The engine is mounted tighter and stronger and the motor is lighter, it's all aluminum vs. the old Lancer's iron block. The engine is chain-driven instead of belt-driven to lighten the maintenance load costs as well as using iradium-tipped sparkplugs to space out the plug change intervals significantly. There are disc brakes all around and standard ABS with Electronic Brake Force Distribution and 7 airbags, including a driver's knee airbag and front side bags and side curtain airbags. 7 airbags in all. I will be buying a '08 Lancer with a 5-speed manual transmission. The synchro is now triple in 1st gear, triple in 2nd gear and double in 3rd and 4th gears. It's single synchro in 5th gear and reverse gear. The list goes on and on and on, my friends. Mitsubishi is serious about engineering improvement and it's the slideshow I looked at on autospies(I've already linked it on the 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer thread here on Edmunds)that convinced me for good on the car. The demonstration was given by Bryan Arnett, the Product Manager for the Lancer '08.
