Re: 2000 LC transmmision dead [caidw]

I'll ask my two favorite Toyota repair shops (Import Masters in Weatherford TX and Excel Auto in Fort Worth TX) for a ballpark idea of what they would charge for a transmission replacement (new and remanufactured options). I'll also ask what they know about chronic transmission failures in 2000 LC. As far as the possibility of repair, a good independent garage would have one or more transmission shops that they trust with their business. I still recommend going to a trusted independent Toyota shop who will then advise you how he'll approach the repair. His trusted shop might be able to diagnose the transmission problem without even removing it from the vehicle. Jeff

Regarding which dealer i went to: I went with Weatherford BMW in Berkley. BMW of San Francisco was in the running to. Both met each others price. We brought in emails of specs and quotes. Both wanted evidence of each others lowest deal. Good luck and plse let me know how it went
Thinking of buying a 97 TLC
by jpbledsoe on Sun Jun 22 15:55:43 PDT 2008
I need a safer vehicle for my wife to shuttle kids to school. I like Toyotas for their relilability and resale. I have an 85 pickup (odo=197k) and a 98 Avalon (odo=100k). I like to keep vehicles for the long haul and I commute to work, thus the low mileage on my pickup. (I've recently started visiting a local salvage yard to minimize costs for some parts on the truck.) I'm an engineer and I take it as a challenge to troubleshoot problems. I'm shopping for a ~ 97 TLC because (correct me if I'm wrong) it's the newest model with the I6 engine. I like the inline engines because I'd expect it's easier to maintain than a V6 or V8. For the 97 TLC I'm seeing prices in the $9,000 range for some 97 TLCs with between 130,000 and 150,000 miles. Some of them are being sold by Toyota dealers. One individual owner wants $15k for a 97 TLC and it's probably in super-mint condition. Some questions about the 97 TLC for those who own a 97 or one of a similar vintage: Is the gas tank located somewhere in the middle like a pickup, i.e., not right in front of the rear bumper like my Avalon's tank? What might I expect, maintenance wise, between 150 and 200 k miles? I've read that the gas mileage runs about 13 to 17 (city to highway). Any ways of improving those numbers by adding performance parts? Thanks, Jeffrey Bledsoe Weatherford TX

Weatherford, Pleasanton, Peter Pan, Fremont BMW all are able to do $800 over invoice. Have spoken to them. I believe there is still room to go down a bit more as I haven't gotten to the final negotiation stage.

For bay area buyer ONLY!! Take over my lease with ONLY 1000 miles on it. The car comes with automatic transmission, sports package, paddle shift, Navigation system, real time traffic information and real leather seat. MSRP for this vehicle is $46775 and I brought it on $44500. The vehicle exterior comes with very RARE Montego Blue with Black leather interior. I purchased this beauty on 09/03/07 at Weatherford BMW Berkeley, yes, you are right, this car is ONLY 1 month old. Monthly payment is $640 and 22 months left on current lease. Mileage allowed is 12K a year. Buyer need to pay $450 for lease transfer fee to BMWFS and of course your credit need to be approved by BMWFS as well. If you interest to take a look this car, please email me at nicky1006 at hotmail. Thanks
DTS 2006 Sensors
by motherbobbi on Fri Oct 26 16:38:59 PDT 2007
We have had 4 or 5 sensors put in the car. They say it is something about how the air flows. Before these sensors go out the car goes crazy. It will say on the read out that all the setting are off. The car has shut down twice, no air, radio, no sound, windows will work at all. It has had 3 radios, I guess you get the picture. Has anyone else had this problem or problems. We are working will GM to have it as a lemon. Our service writer has let GM know about the sensors.
