The night before I left the US I was reading a story about the drug cartels waging war against each other in the city that I was going to. The thought of canceling my trip did cross my mind but only momentarily. The border between EL Paso and Juarez Mex, is probably the most dangerous piece of real estate right now. The Mexican government sent 2000 army troops to quell the violence. The day before I left there were three bank robberies. The previous days there were a few murders and muggings, and other crimes. The times I did leave my aunt's house I kept my eyes wide open. The reason for my trip was to sprinkle my Mom's ashes in the town she was born in which is about three hours from Juarez. On the way there we were stopped at a check point and it was early in the morning and we had just left a small restaurant after getting some gorditas and burritos. We were all eating when we came to the check point and they just smiled and let us through. :) On the way back we stopped at another check point that was manned by soldiers in uniform and with guns and rifles in hand. They ordered us off the vehicle to search it. While waiting for the search to be over I perused the bulletin board they had that said. "Sorry to inconvenience you but this is why we are doing it" and it had an arrow pointing to lots of pictures of people they caught smuggling drugs. The funny thing is they took the pictures of the offenders holding a brick or two of whatever illegal substance they were trying to smuggle. More than likely cocaine. Colombia has put a lot of their drug kingpins in jail or they have been killed so the Mexico drug cartels are taking over the distribution of cocaine but only one wants to take control by killing the other off. Not a good place to visit right now. The caribbean coast is a different story. Playa del Carmen, Cozumel, Cancun are beautiful places to visit and have a great time without having to worry about crime. Mack

"A trip to Mexico is a reward??? I think I'd take the cash option on that one." There's no cash option. And I would have loved to go. We haven't had a vacation to speak of since I came down with cancer. The last three years have been nothing but pure hell with bits of heaven sprinkled in. The trip is to Playa Del Carmen in the Yucatan peninsula in between Cancun and Cozumel. I've been to Cancun and Cozumel back in 1999 on a cruise I won and had a great time. This trip is an "all inclusive" so everything is paid for at the resort. When the contest began I told my wife to get the passports ready and pack a light bag. I was number uno, the big cheese, el chingon, the big kahuna, for the three months of the contest and when the winner's list came out my name was not on it! WTF! pardon my french but I was very upset. Every one I asked just passed the buck. So I missed the trip by .25% even though I outsold the one that took my place by 12 cars and they don't get surveys. :confuse: Anyway, enough venting. I'm leaving in about an hour and a half to Waldorf MD to visit Mack Jr. Mrs. Mack Jr. and Mackabeeto
Looks like everyone is out partying on Friday night!

I had another rough day today. I'll digress. Since 1999 my store has had a cruise contest and I won my share. This year they decided to try something different. An all inclusive week at the Maya Riviera in Playa del Carmen Mexico. The contest ran for three months and the whole auto group was involved. There were 15 trips awarded to sales and we were broken up into three groups with group a fighting for 6 trips, group b for 5 trips, and group c for 4 trips. The groupings were based on the previous year sales so I ended up in group c. Prior to my health issues I was always in the top 20 in the company, not the top 20%. The constest includes the Honda, Isuzu, Volkswagen, Hyundai, BMW, Porsche, Audi, Jaguar, Mini and Toyota stores. To make a long story longer, I was numero uno in my group going into the last month of the competition. I was really excited and motivated to win since I have not taken Mrs. Mackabee on a vacation in quite a while. Last month was the last month of the competition and I ended the month with flying colors and in the number one spot for my group. Well lo and behold, I see the results for the company wide trips which included GM's, SM's, Service writers, etc..etc. and in the sales consultant my name is nowhere to be found. I look at the list twice and start asking my GSM what happened? He says he'll check into it. I walk out of the office and mention it to a colleague and he's dumdfounded but says: "CSI?" and then it starts to sink in. #$%@^*(() Remember the guy that gave me a 51 on a survey?? Well thanks a lot. It just cost me a trip to Mexico. I was so disappointed I called my wife and told her about it. She told me not to worry about it. That in her heart I was still a winner. God I love that woman. :shades: Mackabee

What year is your NOX, mine is an 06 model. I have not noticed the smell only a thumping sound. Sorry that you have to go through all this, I hop you get it fixed.

Next you might complain about the volume control of the guidance voice. Actually, I was thinking about that yesterday when I read that. How is it controlled? My StreetPilot has a handy thumb wheel to turn "Carmen" (my friend named the female voice in my GPS Carmen Garmin) louder or softer.

Hi Bridget, I have already tried emailing you twice, and I'm not sure if I got thru or not, I will try one more time. Perhaps you could email me, alucino@yahoo.com, or at work carmen@brandkitchens.com, I would be very grateful if I can talk to someone about whether or not, when and how to join the lawsuit. I have already filed a complaint with NHTSA like many of you before me. thanks?
