It is American. The caption to the picture is as follows "Chrysler auto assembly workers leave the plant after their shift ends at the Chrysler Warren Truck Assembly in Warren, Michigan October 14, 2008." http://news.yahoo.com/nphotos/Chrysler-auto-assembly-Warren2C-Michigan-Chrysler-- Warren-Truck-Assembly/photo//081117/photos_ts/2008_11_17t010453_450x322_us_autos- _bailout_opinions//s:/nm/20081117/us_nm/us_autos_bailout_opinions;_ylt=AiC84v6v4- 9ie7OGc6pTW4tcXIr0F#photoViewer=/081117/photos_ts/2008_11_17t010453_450x322_us_a- utos_bailout_opinions

Well on the other hand you have to give credit where credit is due and President Clinton quietly locked down (to ensure the) USA pre eminence and dominance as the world's coal exporter! ;) He did this at the beginning of his 8 year presidency, So this has been going on for at least 16 years!!! Who are the major customers? aka the Kyoto signers? :P Warren Buffet ( investor that he is) long ago bought BIG stakes in TRAINS (this is all common knowledge). How are trains and coal related? Far and away the BIGGEST train customers are the COAL industries, oil, gas and followed by the commodities such as grains, etc.... If it were left to the "heavier" duty manufacturing (washing machines, etc,) trains would have folded LONG ago. Train companies have long been on the public dole.

The Death of GM...
by lemko on Fri Nov 07 13:15:34 PST 2008
...would literally leave me nothing to which I could look forward. I reminice about my past GM cars, enjoy my present day GM vehicles and look forward to a nice new Buick or Cadillac in the future. I don't really spend my disposable income on anything else but my cars. Without GM, I can have a fortune that would dwarf that of Bill Gates, Warren Buffet, and Ted Turner combined and nothing on which I'd want to spend it. There is absolutely nothing I find desirable about any of the Asian offerings. I can't even consider them automobiles but mere "transportation capsules" with about as much soul as a Maytag washing machine. A Maytag or a Toyota may be a well-made appliance and reliable as tomorrow's sunrise, but they've got all the personality of a paper plate. The European offerings are the other extreme. They're like having a wild night in Vegas with a hot showgirl, but waking up the next morning with an extreme hangover in a trashed hotel room, an empty wallet, maxed-out credit cards, a painful new tattoo, an unusual rash you can't explain, and a new bride with an agenda all her own without any regard to your physical, emotional, or financial well-being. GM cars are a nice center-ground between these two extremes.

Toyota earnings are dropping like an anchor too. Fast dropping earnings is the general rule today in the auto industry independent of the car company. Warren Buffett bought GS too early? Yup Warren Buffet is not perfect: Remember he's the same guy who recently bought a Cadillac DTS.
