Make hole to pass skis from trunk into rear seat?

The Honda Civic EX 2009 has a 60/40 split rear seat, but even 40% is too large to waste on the rear seat. That civic also has a rear arm-rest/cup holder than can be lowered. In previous cars, I've seen that they have a flap-door in the rear, which if opened, allows for long items to be stowed in the trunk and have them stick out into the rear seat. This allows the seat-back to be kept upright, and just have skis stick out through the hole in the center. I was wondering if I can cut open a flap in that rear-armrest backing, and get access to trunk that way! Can use velcro to make the flap be close-able. Any reasons why this would not work?

Similar yes, same no. I have seen and researched both. I don't need to maximize cargo space, I have a truck, I need passenger space. Those "hundred pound seats" are more comfortable than the stow and go seats. I am looking for a lease not a purchase. Chrysler doesn't lease their minivans.

FYI on the Routan, in case you haven't heard, it's a Chrysler Town & Country with Volkswagen badging. It shares nearly everything including some sheet metal, doors and roof. It's even built in the same plant in Ontario as the Chrysler vans. The only major difference is that the Routan doesn't have the Chrysler's Stow N' Go seating so if you needed to maximize cargo space you'd have to manually lift the hundred pound middle row seats out of the van. Sure there are subtle differences in the two. But I'd go with the Chrysler. The Chrysler Town & Country I mean, not the Chrysler Routan.
Lazy Disco Retractor

I recently purchased a 1998 Land Rover Discovery. I have found that the drivers' belt retractor is a bit lazy. When I release the buckle, the retractor does not pull the belt back to the stowed position. Any other Discovery owners experience this? Just trying to figure out if this is worth replacing.

Thanks for your help I am located in Northern NJ and in the market for a Touring w/leather and stow & go. Not ready to pull the trigger as I am in an 05 touring with about 33k on it, however I could be swayed if the right deal comes along thnks again
