news on this little Pininfarina-Bollore B0. It is definitely coming to the U.S. and will directly compete with Mitsubishi's i-MIEV. This is exciting news! Whoo-hoooo! Pininfarina and Bollore have partnered up to build an electric car that will go into production and be available in the U.S. in late 2010. The vehicle is called the B0 and it made its debut at the Paris Motor Show this week. The car is an automatic hatchback four-seater with four doors. Its powered by an electric motor and a lithium polymer battery that’s made by Bollore. This car can travel 153 miles on a full charge and it has a top speed of 80-mph. The car can go from 0-37-mph in 6.3 seconds. But a really cool feature the vehicle has are the solar panels on its roof and hood that help recharge and keep the car’s power. Pininfarina states that the battery has a lifespan of 125,000 miles and doesnlt need any maintenance. Pricing info hasn’t been released yet but as soon as we know we’ll pass the info on to you. http://www.dubdaily.com/?p=4914 This one actually sounds more like what I want in an all-electric car. The solar panels are very smart, and we both live in such sunny areas. Especially me! :shades:

a viable alternative to the Chevy Volt. This car is called the Pininfarina-Bollore B0. Have you heard of it yet? I am truly interested in this car, as well as Mitsubishi's i-MIEV for my next rig. Pininfarina B0 is a 4-person 4-door compact electric car, with a maximum speed (electronically limited) of 130 km / h. Batteries last for up to 250 km and located at the bottom of the platform between the two axles, lowering the center of gravity machine. Roof and hood have solar cells that will supply energy to electrical equipment. Next week, car will be presented to the French president Nicolas Sarkozy, who is a personal friend of Bolore. Sales of new models will begin in mid-2009. Planned output is 10 thousand units per year. This is an Italian bird. Exporting to the U.S. does not seem to be firmly in their radar yet, though they have mentioned it. If Pininfarina-Bollore would export this car to the U.S. and price it for around $19,995, and we could use our $7,500 Obama rebates on it I'd cling to it like a warm, raspberry donut and a tall mug of Taster's Choice with Hazelnut creamer and 4 scoops of sugar. What'd'ya think, San Diego dude? Hey, I just found some more juicy news on this little pup. Pininfarina and Bollore have partnered up to build an electric car that will go into production and be available in the U.S. in late 2010. Pricing info hasn’t been released yet but as soon as we know we’ll pass the info on to you. http://www.dubdaily.com/?p=4914 Very, very cool news. So, there you have it. This little pup is being built to compete with Mitsubishi's i-MIEV directly. Right down to the same availability time in the U.S., late 2010. Actually, I am not certain that Mitsubishi is saying "late" 2010, just that they are saying "2010" for the i-MIEV. These are the two finalists vying for my potential purchase in 2010. I would probably get a decent trade-in value on my '08 Lancer GTS, or, just keep the '08 Lancer GTS for trips to Tucson, Phoenix, and on. If these cars are the right price I will lobby to my wife as one proposal to keep the '08 Mitsubishi Lancer GTS and buy an i-MIEV or B0. But if they get over $20,000 it will need to be a direct trade-in for an i-MIEV or B0. Exciting news-Pininfarina is going to export the little B0 to the U.S.! Whoo-hoo! :shades:

Back on track. Its been busy, hellish, and as I predicted I survived the layoff. 23 others weren't so lucky though, but they fired less people than I thought. Whoa TM what happened to you that you had to stay in hospital??? :surprise: My thought on all this BMW thing: Well, guys. Its all back to one word: greed. Yes even BMW gets infected by the GMC-virus (thats "Greed for More Consumers" btw). H, why should BMW kill the 7? True the Bangle-7 is more a Lexus than BMW, but the pre 2002 7series is actually nimble and great to drive. Thats the one they need to restore, even the styling remains one of the best looking BMW ever imo. A boulevard cruiser it may be, but at least according to mags the 6 is still relatively fun to drive, though below BMW's usual standard. Also, there's always a huge market for big spenders and value shoppers (me) as the resale plummets pretty badly for a BMW. The X6 otoh makes less sense, combining SUV's tall stance and coupe's impracticality. Weird.... the X1 seems a better contender, but the styling? Eww..... x7? Huh? There's an x7? The X3 imo is the worst BMW ever. Combine odd face only a mother could love, cheap interior, lousy ride, unsupportive seats (backseat = park bench), and minimal features, and you get the x3. A flop that sells, only to show us that many BMW customers are as brain dead as Paris Hilton. bmlexus, a small update from my contact: 2009 models will get the new turbo. I received infos that by January BMW may replace the 6-cyl with the new turbo 3.0 making about 320 hp, dubbed 4.0i. Theyre still debating when or if the engine's gonna make it to US now or next fall. Upcoming 7 gets the 740i elsewhere, US will have to wait for final decision. There are only 2 downsides so far, the new turbo is more expensive and is expected to raise price by about a grand or more, and second fuel economy is predicted to suffer by about 6 to 7 percent. The CS is dead, 8-series a no go. If economy don't go better ways the x6 will become a one generation only. I'll keep ya posted with more. Why so long to wait? Why take so long to test?

>That is the most pathetic and ridiculous thing I've heard in a long time. To feel a sense of "pride" because you're carrying a paper bag versus plastic?? I guess you don't know "Fashion"......and the women ;) >These people have some serious problems if they are worried about looking like a "classy customer" because they are carrying a paper bag. The people you are describing sound like Paris Hilton wanna-be's. You bet. That is what it is all about. Now tell me...in the same breath why would one "dress" up a car with accessories? People have ego, and pride and would like to show off. They will spend the extra dollar to achieve that. Why would you buy a new car when CPO cars from Hon/Toy/Lex are so good and come with warranty? Ever seen a doctor drive an elantra to work?

"It is a matter of pride to come out of Macys/Nordstrom with their paper bag. It shows that you are a classy customer as opposed to a clearance shopper." That is the most pathetic and ridiculous thing I've heard in a long time. To feel a sense of "pride" because you're carrying a paper bag versus plastic?? These people have some serious problems if they are worried about looking like a "classy customer" because they are carrying a paper bag. The people you are describing sound like Paris Hilton wanna-be's. Here in the Midwest, people apparently don't feel the same sense of "pride," self worth, or status as a "class customer" that comes with a paper bag. Because at the Macy's here, ALL purchases come in a plastic bag!
The 2010 BMW X1
by tagman on Thu Nov 06 01:05:15 PST 2008
The next couple of years will be very busy for BMW as it launches a handful of new models including new versions of current top sellers and some models we’ve never seen before. The new X1, revealed in these latest spy shots and computer generated renderings, falls into the latter category, taking the carmaker into the compact SUV market currently dominated by the likes of the Toyota RAV4 and Honda CR-V. This rendering shows the BMW designers will stick closely to the lines of the Concept X1 showcased at last month's Paris Motor Show. This latest set of spy images, meanwhile, are the most revealing yet of the upcoming X1 - the latest prototypes shedding the heavy camo gear seen on previous test cars in favor of more revealing covering. We also get a chance to look inside the interior for the first time. The automatic transmission and predominant mph markings on the speedometer suggest this is likely a U.S. spec car being tested. As the renderings show, the X1 will also share a bit of the X6 crossover's updated styling, though avoids the awkward stance and front end of the larger vehicle. The new X1’s running gear is based on the 1-series compact car but its ride height will be taller and BMW’s X-drive AWD system will also feature. Engine options will range from a 145hp 1.8L four-cylinder petrol engine to a range topping 3L diesel. Transmissions will include a conventional six-speed manual as well an optional six-speed self shifter. Expect to see elements from the CS concept car make it onto the new X1 including an enlarged grille, wrap around headlights and an aggressive bumper. Production is expected to top the 100,000 mark and will start at a BMW plant in Leipzig by the middle of next year. The X1 will be priced higher than the 1-series, likely starting close to the $30,000 mark. Much of the car’s components will also be shared with an upcoming SUV model from Mini to save on development costs, although the BMW model is expected to be significantly larger than the Mini. link title TM
