Re: Toyota

I work for Hino in Marion AR. and we have started hearing whispers about an engine plant, either in Marion or Forrest City AR. There is room at the Marion site but air issues from being located next to Memphis. If Toyota does go deisel, it would surprise me if the engine came from anywhere but Hino. As far as the poster complaining of bad Toyota gas mileage, it's a fact. They have been forced to redo EPA stickers to reflect real world conditions. There is still a lot of old stuff on the net, go look at the stickers on the cars. My paycheck comes from Toyota (we are a dedicated Tundra parts plant) and I just bought a new Pontiac, didn't make me a big hit with the Japanese supporters at our plant, but a Scion TC that only claims 27 HWY. wasn't going to cut it. BTW, our supporters swear the FJ Cruiser was a Hino design and Toyota took it.
08 Accord EX-L V6 no Nav
by billtetz on Thu Mar 06 13:28:16 PST 2008
After initially getting quotes via internet from 21 central Florida dealers (plus quotes for the Nissan Altima & Hyundai Azera, before deciding on the Accord), I continued to work with 9 or 10 closest to my home in Marion County. From that smaller number I asked for out-the-door quotes, so as to eliminate them adding "protection packages" & the like, as most were doing, to their initial quotes. I finally got what seems like an extremely good (& if one believes some of the other dealers, money-losing) quote from one within 40 minutes of my home, as follows: car $25,113 dealer fee 299 tax 1551 tag & gov fees 237 Total $27,200 I'll actually be transferring a tag, so the total'll be more like $27,100. This seems like a heckuva deal, as the car's invoice, including destination fee, is $26,051. So I'm getting the car at $938 under invoice, or $639 under if you include the dealer fee as part of the car's price. Either way it seems like a great deal (my next best OTD quote was $421 more), so I put down $500 on my credit card to reserve it. It's supposed to be manufactured in a couple of weeks, available to me the last week of March. I only wanted the car in bold beige metallic, & only 2 of the dealers I communicated with had the EX-L V6 in that color in stock.
Re: Why the Cowboys lost. [madmanmoo]

One would think that with 2 weeks to prepare the Cowboys would have been a lot sharper. But, as mac pointed out, their play the past month since clinching has steadily declined. May have been a case of the "BIG HEAD" syndrome. Dallas and the rest of the world sure love their Cowboys. They probably started believing everything they read about how great they were. And as Rocky noted, it wasn't all Romo's fault. This was a total team defeat. Offense, defense, special teams... coaching... they all kind of sucked. I thought Marion Barber ran the ball pretty well (missed a couple blocks though) considering he wasn't given much. I think he'll be a free agent, hope the Cowboys can sign him as I think he's a top notch running back.

Hey ccompson, too funny that you were looking for my Acura at Acura-Columbus.....it's actually on a used car lot in Urbana, Ohio.....ever heard of it? ;) Even though Acura-Columbus is literally 6 minutes from our house, they weren't willing to give us the best deal on our MDX so we ended up buying it at Mathews Acura in Marion, Ohio back in late November. That dealer quoted us 6400 at that time but quote was only good for 30 days. We bought a GMC Acadia at a dealership in Urbana and that was the dealer that we ended up trading the Acura RL to. We seem to like taking drives out in the country to these small town dealers!

Got a quote today of $20,900 plus tax out the door. Includes all fees, destination charges, docs etc. I don't live in MS so I wouldn't pay tax on the car at the dealership. Only when I register the car in my home state where the tax rate is 3% of new autos. With that figured in total cost is $21527 Invoice on the car is $19813.00 Quote from Pat Peck Honda Gulfport, MS.
