Well, I'm not in CA anymore, but I think you knew that. But still working with the same team. Go figure. After my daughter had a car wreck last year, we almost put her in a 2006 BMW 330i with EVERYTHING - same interior as our green one, but with white exterior. She didn't want it. Why? It was an automatic. :) Good girl. She's now in a 07 Jetta GLI (2.0T with 6 speed). Fast little car! So both wife and daughter are in the VW/Audi camp. I'm still plugging in my Jeep. :) -Paul

It's funny you should ask! Once in band camp, I was walking down a grassy knoll.. oops! Wrong story! When I got into the car biz I started at a domestic store. The one with the shiny black bow on the emblem. Everything you may have heard of in regards to the car biz happened here. Customers would lie to, and customers would lie too! ;) So the store decided to have a "Slasher" sale to drum up some business. They run an ad in the local rag advertising hundreds of new and clean pre-owned vehicles. It read something like this: "Attention Happy Roads! Due to the tremendous response to our new car tent sale, we have hundreds of pre-owned low mileage vehicles we took in on trade.! Honda, Lexus, Acura, Toyota, Nissan, you name it we have it! The deals will be so good you may have to camp out overnight for this even. We have vehicles starting at $299.00* Please stop by our location at 231234 Military Road and fill out a registration form to ensure you get to pick the best of the crop. We'll seee you heeeeere!" Me and a buddy of mine called Buddy read the announcement in disbelief. "Tremendous response to our new car tent sale?" both of us said it in unity,, and laughed. Later that day we were instructed on what to do to prepare for the grand sale. We where supposed to fill out some registration cards which looked like innocent registration cards. Name, number, address, place of employment, monthly income, etc, etc,,,;) The first victim,, I mean customer of the day came in looking for an Acura Legend for $299.00. We told her that car would not be in until Sunday and asked if she had another choice. "Yeah, a Lexus would be fine too." So you can imagine how the rest of the day went. We had hundreds of people come in to "register" to get a chance at that mystical $299.00* vehicle. Next day was a Saturday and I was anxiously waiting for a phone call from someone that wanted to hire me to sell at their dealer group. I had a customer that I was getting nowhere with when the phone rings and the receptionist tells me I have a call. "This is Mack, how can I help?" I asked. "Mack! this is Richi Cardone. How are you?" he asked. "I'm working a deal right now, how about you?" I reply. "How would you like to start working for us monday morning?" he asks. "I would be delighted!!" I respond. I get up and get one of the other salespeople and tell him: "Here you, finish this up will ya?" I tell him. "Where are you going?" he asks. "I'm going to a better dealership and a better product. I can't stand this place anymore with all their lies and deceit. And that's just the customers. Management is a different story." I grabbed my jacket and headed out to my car. Monday morning I called my buddy Buddy to find out how their "Slasher" sale had gone. "Oh man, you should be happy you left this weekend. It's was a total disaster and a madhouse. You know those "registration" forms they made us fill out?" he asks. "Yeah, what about them?" I ask intrigued. "Those were actually mini=credit apps." he says. "Jack was in the back office pulling those people's credit." he tells me. ."No EXCREMENT!" I respond in disbelief. "Yep, that's what he was doing all the time. And that's not all. The best is yet to come" he tells me. "The sale actually began on Sunday. All the people that registered came in and they were given a balloon to tie around their wrist. The balloons were color coded. Green balloon+credit, can buy anything they want. Yellow balloon, So so but still good buyers. And the last one was a red balloon meaning those people had horrible credit, bankruptcy, and lots of late payments" he continued. So you can guess all the saleman were after the customers with green balloons." he finished. "Wow. Unbelievable. So did they sell many cars?" I asked. "Not really, maybe 5 the whole weekend. I had a customer come up to me for help. She had a red balloon and said no one would help her" he replied. "And how about you? did you sell anything?" I asked. "No, I'm doing lot patrol now. Like it better too, and no long hours." The End. :shades: * price is plus tax, title, registration, and $299.00 processing fee. Only one at this price. Highway hijinks
by 210delray on Tue Jan 29 12:15:10 PST 2008
On the way to work a few days ago, I was minding my own business in the right lane of a 4-lane divided highway. I became aware of a bright green late-model Ford Mustang (pre-2005 model) behind me in the left lane slowly catching up. Directly behind the Mustang was a Chevrolet Express cargo van. Then the Mustang suddenly slowed down for no apparent reason. The van driver responded by whipping into the right lane, cutting off a BMW X5, whose driver flashed her high-beams. Then as the van started to pass the Mustang on the right, the Mustang accelerated. I realized now that the Mustang driver had brake-checked the tailgating van. Now the two were in a race of sorts to get ahead of one another with me dead ahead in the right lane. Fortunately, the van backed off and passed me on the left behind the Mustang. Then after passing me, the van driver returned to the right lane and this time was able to go around the Mustang. I caught up to the Mustang at the next red light. The car looked to be in immaculate condition with shiny aluminum wheels. The driver appeared to be around 50 or so, with a beard, and casually dressed. The kicker was the car's vanity plate. It read (I've spelled it out) "one not to push!" So does this guy purposely "camp" in the left lane just to annoy drivers who get on his rear end?

Hi guys ..Glad to hear from you. You can find Kleen flo ,911 power service at the major truck stops. there is usually a store there that sells it off the shelf. Or even at a tractor trailer parts store. About buying "Premium" I look intentionally for stations that list both regular and "premiumor "Shell- Ultra", I believe it is #2 at citgo is the better fuel.I have had good results from this. When I am going skiing/camping up in Northern Michigan, I usually stop at the B.P ,or Citgo along the hyway I 75. As soon as I see the Green sun sign I turn in .As I know they have a selection usually. Not all have it ,but I figure about 60% do. I have seen it at.. Makinaw just before the Bridge has a huge station there near the University. And I have had good luck in finding those fuels in Birch run,Cadillac, Marquette, and Bessemer as well.along the hyway. Yes I have seen U.L.S.D served at Meijer's .This, I had good results from, that is why I was referring it. Oh Dcxman..make sure your tires are pumped up to 38 psi. This may help a bit. Yes I agree that this may cause most of your mileage woes. I run Sport Kings AT on mine .They are my winter tires. It is not as agressive as yours, but perfect for ice and snow on the hyway.I am averaging 28mpg in the Winter and 34mpg in the summer. Where do you get you 5W40 Rotella,I haven't found 5W40 here at the stores in Windsor.just 15W40. Also DCXman try using the cruise on the hyway. Bring it up to 70mph set the cruise, then press decel till you reach 55-56mph, and achieve 1700-1800 rpm's. I wouldn't worry about someone hitting you from behind,if you have a trailer. What you could do is pass a mack truck on the hyway, pull in front, give your self some distance away from him. then set the cruise as I said. 70- then decel "in cruise" till your at 55,and the rpms settle out at 1700-1800. If your in the trucking lane there isn't any speeders to worry about. Oh what about your Air filter ?? check that to see if she needs changing.. How about trying Lucas formula ? I have had good luck with this. Have you tried changing your fuel filter yet? Also I have just changed my fuel filter. It wasn't so bad as some guys here claim . I disconnected all the lines, and used a rubber oil filter wrench to crack it open, I had my wife hold the new filter as I poured the fuel from the old filter through a funnel to the new one.put some oil on the rubber "O' rings" then spun it on. And primed it with the pump on the side , and used the bleeder valve a couple of times to bleed of the air.I think it took me a 1/2 hr to change. This may help?? I also heard some guys were getting better results from an ECM reflash. Well I wish you luck as I hope the best for everyone here. I have had good results and wanted to pass on the message. Good luck and good riding ! Lightnin..

Absolutely! These long red lights where no traffic is there for the green are just gas wasters - and a nice revenue source when the local PD decides to camp there.
The truth about the PT, from real owners
by wannabeeditor on Fri Mar 02 10:07:55 PST 2007
2003 PT Cruiser - A very satisfied owner... What can I say about the PT: In short this is a very good car overall. My wife and I had our eyes on these way back in '99 but we wanted to wait a few years before picking one up. We're especially glad we did as the prices did come down a bit from the early models. Plus the four star crash test ratings are significantly better than the earlier models two star ratings. We bought ours for about $16,700 out the door (thanks to a $2500 rebate and my Chrysler supplier discount code) when it stickered at $19,200! Thanks to Brian Bemis Autoworld for locating just the color and options we wanted at no charge. We purchased the base model PT (which came with many standard options) in light almond pearl metallic with the taupe/ivory interior. It's a very nice looking vehicle inside and out, classy even. Ours was only equipped with two extra options; cruise control & tinted glass. Upon owning this car for about 4 years I have some thoughts and opinions to share with you all. And to note we have had NO repairs of any kind on this vehicle, and no unscheduled service stops. Pros: Nice view out the front windshield. Not a "commanding" view but a bit higher than most normal cars. Excellent brakes, this thing stops extremely well even with the front disc/rear drum set up. The stock 195/60/R15 Goodyear Eagle RS-A tires have lasted a fairly long time. Now with 27000 miles we still have pretty ample tread depth. The vehicle has been driven about 60%/40% city/highway miles in it's four years with us here in north central Illinois. These tires provide very good grip in nearly all weather conditions and the vehicle handles particularly well for something of its shape, weight, and size. It hugs the curves well on off ramps and loves to eat up 40-45 MPH curves with the cruise set at 55-60. The handling gives you a lot of confidence in the platform. Steering feel & effort is very good with a nice on center position. It takes very little correction to keep the PT in your lane. I do not share other reviewer’s opinions of the turning circle, it's pretty normal as there aren't many cars made that can do a u-turn on a side street without having to three-point it eventually. The cruise control is very intuitive and the placement on the steering wheel at the 4 o'clock position is nearly ideal for adjustments. The engine is well suited at 150 HP to motivate our 4 speed auto PT just fine, low R.P.M. torque is pretty standard for a 4 cylinder car. Even the engine at idle sounds a bit retro which is nifty, but takes on a smooth feel/sound at speed. If you're looking to be speedy upgrade to the 180 HP mid-turbo version, or go nuts with the 210 HP version, but expect a bit more harshness and vibrations under boost from the turbo engines. Ours does very well around town, and I must say this...for a car of this weight when you punch the throttle at about 35-40 M.P.H. this thing goes like nearly nothing I've ever owned....your doing 70-80 in what seems like less than four seconds and the thrust brings a smile to your face. Seriously, try it its fun. I never have trouble passing anyone on two lane roads...ever. And to note I've previously owned two Rx-7's ('85 GSL SE & '88 Turbo) so I think I'm an ample judge of acceleration. We've loaded everything from 8ft step ladders, to weekly groceries, to camping gear, to sheets of styrofoam insulation, to our 32" flat screen TV in our PT. It holds pretty much everything we need it to. It's not a family car though, don't be fooled. The seats are simple to fold and remove, but the 60% side takes some muscle to heft in and out of the car. The multi-position shelf is a nice feature and something every suv/car/minivan should offer. Beware though it has only a 50 pound weight limit. We like to put our 22lb bag of cat food on it up high and it won't squash the groceries below it. Nice tie-downs and hooks all over the place. Plus a convenient "pocket" for a chamois bottle or jumper cables and gloves on the drivers side cargo sill. The standard single CD player and six speaker stereo system have very good sound quality....even when played fairly loud. I've previously had 200 watt eclipse matched component speakers and Ford JBL speaker systems, this is nearly on a par with the Eclipse system, however it can't play nearly as loud. The D-pillar speakers are a bit weak though when played separately from the dash and doors (they could be upgraded a bit) but you can't tell when they're all played in unison. Pop in the Eagles Hell Freezes over CD and play track 6, Hotel California, and wait for the smile to break...you'll see. HVAC works well and is easy to use. The dash center mounted window controls take a bit of getting used to but once you're there you're fine, you don't have to take your eyes off the road to control the windows at all. Love, love, love the gauges in this car. White faced with black numbers and orange pointers during the day, black faced with bluish-green numbers and reddish-orange pointers at night. Easy to read and see all the time. The PT has a nice low fuel indicator/chime which tells you at 2.2 gallons remaining and then flashes repeatedly and chimes again when you're down to approx. 1 gallon. Passenger under seat drawer is perfect for gloves, radar detectors, some maps, or small umbrellas. It holds CD's too for long trips but we like the CD wallets best and put them in the cavernous door pockets. Fit and finish is good and the push button door entry is a nice throwback, and beats the hell out of pull up clunky handles. The doors close (with a nice soft thud) and open easily and the sill is wide but not too wide giving you a good place to knock off snow before settling in. The center console and three cup holders work well to hold most any type of drink you need. We never have to worry about a sharp turn or hard braking spilling a drink. Another nice feature is the pen only spot. It's a small cut-out next to the kleenex box nook that neatly holds one or two pens. Cons: Rear windshield wiper doesn't have an ample spring to keep the blade in contact with the window, it needs to be pushed against the glass about once a week in order to wipe the entire glass area properly. This might be an "ours only" issue but it begs mentioning. Rear brakes squeak (started after about 20K miles) after the car has been sitting for more than say an over night. However they do it in just a work day's time on really moist or rainy days. After a few stops though it goes away. I might need to get the brakes checked, but typically rear brakes last longer than that before needing service. Mileage, yes this ones all over the internet. We were a bit disappointed with this too. However the sticker on the window of ours said 20 city/25 highway and that's pretty much what you get. Why are we surprised then? I now commute with it about 400 miles a week to work with about 74% highway an
