OK, Archie and Edith didn't have a rig...

but did Meathead and Ms.Struthers go car-less, too? If so, they are all shining examples of city-types that could survive fairly well without driving automobiles. Hey, Seattle-area people out there, I want to run this by you. I was at my Pocatello, ID, library the other night reading the Seattle Post-Intelligencer, and I saw an article about an underground tunnel being dug to make way for light underground rail. Ya gotta be kiddin' me? I leave my fair city for a couple of years and you guys are all about building a light rail system to circumvent the huge volume of Seattle traffic and try to get to your jobs in under two hours? Wow. I thought Tim Eyman and the like had stopped that project cold. The tunnel was underneath the Rainier Valley area(just SE of downtown a smidge), I believe. Do add some more, fintail and any other Seattle area residents. For some reason it's not making the newspapers in eastern Idaho. ;) Oh, 87 unleaded was up to $2.59/gal today in Pocatello, ID. This was at the Phillips 666 station, which is only a Griffey Jr.'s throw from my house in the north end of town. :)
Nissan Interiors

I completely agree with all your posts regarding the interiors of the Murano / Altima. I don't understand why they can't just spend an extra $200 JUST to make the BUTTONS presentable. My examples would be the control buttons on the Murano steering wheel, (which stare at you the whole time you are in the car) and the window and mirror control buttons on the Altima. They just say "cheap". The buttons on my $29 Alarm clock look way better. And the size of the door-side arm rest on the Altima ?! You would have to be a Sally Struther's Kid to use that thing. They could easily pass that cost on and it would go far to match their fantastic exterior designs. And Ultima, I appreciate what the after market leather can do for the Altima, but what can you do with the rest ? (Actually, I was looking at the SL) Also, I'm your dad's age, what does your dad drive ? More power to you though, when I was your age I was driving a Cavalier Hatchback, far from the cool look of the Altima.
AutoWeek blurb...
by burnsmr4 on Tue May 15 11:05:40 PDT 2001
Did anyone catch the AutoWeek blurb regarding the Mercury Cougar from about two weeks ago? I think someone mentioned it. It was sad -- something about the "New Edge" design that everyone forgot. I expect to see the Mercury Marauder in the same column in a year. Something akin to "the oversexed Mercury Marquis that everyone forgot." Oddly enough, the annual new car issue of AutoWeek claimed that the Marauder would fill a void left in the hearts of fans of the late Chevrolet Impala SS. Uh-huh. Whatever. [Mercury marketing stiff hyping the Marauder.] "Team, the new Marauder is going to be a marketing coup for our division. GM screwed over some of its best customers when it killed the Chevy Impala SS. We're gonna steal that market right out from under them with this badass Marquis." [Impudent young Mercury marketing intern, with business school degree NOT signed by Sally Struthers, interjects.] "Uh -- why redesign a car associated retirees for the sole purpose of capturing a miniscule redneck market segment that's more than likely been re-brainwashed into buying the Chevy Monte Carlo in the first place? Shouldn't we be marketing the new Moutaineer and revamping the Cougar? Hello?!" [Crickets fill the resulting odd, uncomfortable silence.]
