Mileage drop on 2nd tank
by motorcity6 on Sun Aug 31 06:17:05 PDT 2008
Mileage went from 21.55 to 20.38, running a/c with sunroof open in 90+ weather..and stoplight starts a little more spunky.. Topped off tank with 9.66 gals. of E-10, too lazy to go to my pure gas station for stations in southern Fla will soon be out of gas due to the Hurricane Gustav..Premium E-10 was 3.769... Has anyone tried a Fuel reformulator called "ETHOS" for the earth---greenie outfit out of British Columbia??? I think AL Gore is a silent partner!!!! They sell windmills, and solar panels.. Love Global Warming!!!!! It brings out the whackos....

Granted I don't watch much TV, but all the network TV I watch is US feed so that I can get HD. Usually I pick up the Detroit stations so as to time shift (I'm Pacific) - lets us watch our primetime programmes while dinner is cooking or as after dinner viewing. I still haven't seen a Flex ad.

He is a capitalist and does what he believes in. He has built many of the NG stations on the West Coast. He is in the process of building the largest Wind Farm on the planet. So yes he is putting his money to making what he believes in happen. He formed Pickens Fuel Corp. in 1997 and began touting natural gas as the best vehicular fuel alternative because it's a domestic resource that, among many advantages, is clean (Natural Gas Vehicles or NGVs emit up to 30% less pollution than gasoline or diesel vehicles) and reduces foreign oil consumption. Reincorporated as Clean Energy in 2001, the company now owns and operates natural gas fueling stations from British Columbia to the Mexican border. Wind Farm venture: On May 15, 2008, Pickens' Mesa Power announced that it had placed a first order for 667 1.5-megawatt turbines from General Electric. The turbines will be delivered in 2010 and 2011.

>At least I didn't say Columbia. Actually it's Colombia. I did that intentionally as a play on the ease of mispelling it. I'm not up on S. American geography anymore. A few stations are at $3.65 and $3.7X, but most were still at $3.999. A few have broken the price ranks and dropped to $3.95.
Good to see everyone getting lively again.

Was worried everyone would still be in a "too much turkey stupor". This site is nothing if not entertaining. It's great when people emphasize the subtle point I was making without even trying. Let me make it obvious. Every CUV is really just an AWD wagon with some minivan interior ergonomics sprinkled in. There is nothing more to the species. It's a marketing term hatched to fool those people who wouldn't be caught dead in a wagon or "the mv-word which must not be spoken". Just in case, we'll add some bulgy sheet metal styling to disguise the truth. It's cool with me if you prefer the SUV styling and it's perfectly okay to make vehicle purchase decisions for any emotional reason you choose. Looks, image, cachet, sense of luxury, sporty handling - whatever. Thankfully, many members here have the insight to know why they made their choice. On the other hand, the "My vehicle is a CUV so it's better than your station-wagon or minivan" is patently ridiculous and merely identifies you as a marketing hacks dream.

Nope, they changed a few other things too. Changed the engine mounts, put more of that internal deadening material in the frame, tweaked the suspension. Added power rear hatch, power fold rear seats, VSC, and a new AWD system. Certainly not a new vehicle, but would definately qualify as a mid-cycle redesign. Sorry if that news bothers your narrow view. I test drove both the FS and TX, and the smoothness and NVH was clearly improved. I honestly don't know why sales are so poor. We prefer its look, to the dozens of variations on the same bulgy sheet metal look and don't need an AWD station wagon to try to pretend it's something else. It was our front-runner but fell behind as other manufacturers offered much bigger incentives to address the Can/US pricing discrepencies.
